Well let's hope Gary Neville knows what he's on about.
He predicts us to be Midlands top team this coming season.
I think its something worth thinking about.

Whatever Neville sees its something our club is doing.

I'm up for it the start of the season.

I read Traore and most importantly jiminez aswell both pencilled in to return on the 20th of this month.

20th is t too bad Phil. Originally sounded longer.

04 Aug 2022 20:42:15
Hey Phil as ever I'm with you, we've got a good look on paper with the players we've presently got.yes we need something up front and with raul out we're 'light' there at the mo. But we can still score goals as we proved, without jiminez. I'm looking forward to Saturday with confidence and will be behind whoever wears the old gold. I'm frustrated we havnt been able to secure someone but why the gloom over it. That's what gets me down, the negative views the defeatist attitude because we havnt paid silly money out on a name.

Me too,can't wait Phil,lots of strikers being touted,batshuyi,top of list apparently,
Who knows,
All the world's a stage,
And all the footballers merely players
To every wolves player that goes out on the pitch for every game

Phil, I think he's thinking that we have a settled team with some top players, that needs just a little evolution and not a revolution. Or maybe he doesn't want to praise Gerrard too much.
A striker and attacking midfielder {plus Collins and Whang} should do it, for now. Although I suspect we'll loan a striker and use MGW in that MF role, {I think Lage is currently working on the latter}.
As fans we know that even with those additions we would still have a paper thin squad, but at least with a few more options.

Love the positivity. My Leeds mate thinks we will smash them. Let’s hope we do!

Be feeling the nerves this time tomorrow.
Wow its come around quick this week,
Been feeling like a long drawn out close season.

We beat Leeds I don't think we can say we'll be champions league qualifying contenders but we lose I guarantee there will be a post we're going down lol.

All in the fun of the fare.

Read Leeds have some injuries.

I have a feeling that Adama is going to surprise us, and others, at the start of the season. He needs a big six months to prove that he still has a part to play (for whoever that may be) otherwise he will be scrapping around for a job and a much lower wage.
Imagine a fired up Adama with half a dozen goals by October!

04 Aug 2022 23:14:42
Fabio has scored for Anderlect again!

05 Aug 2022 00:51:29
Yeah Stiveswolf. For me Adama has gone under the radar so to speak the last few months. Maybe the Barcelona episode will have given him a different way of thinking seeing that the grass is not always greener type of deal and use this to keep his head down and go for it with use this season.

Just watched the Lage interview, filled me with confidence, glad to see the usual suspects on here brimming with confidence too. Looking forward to seeing the team play, this seasons pl is shaping up to be quite tasty all round. It feels like the club want to get more player in, just hope they can manage it.

05 Aug 2022 02:19:08
StIves- it's a fair point, the only thing I would say is that for some of us it won't be a surprise. Yes Adama struggled for starts before he left but of course he did because we new he wanted to leave! Was Trincao honestly playing any better/creating more chances?! We did the same thing with Jota, phased him out of the team because we new he didn't want to stay. Does anyone actually believe (with everything we've seen since) that Jota wasn't up to a starting place all those games when he wasnt getting in?! I don't blame the gaffers (Nuno or Lage), it's a natural response to play people that want the shirt number. It also works for the club cause you can just say 'it's fine he wasn't even playing for us. But c'mon let's be realistic here, in our current squad even now Adama is one of the most desirable players! Peeps will say then why hasn't anyone come in for him, I'll tell you why cause with his current contract status (which we've handled badly) with every day he's gets £250-500k cheaper!
I know I may be in the minority here but in the current situation the squad is in I'd EVEN go as far to say that him signing a deal would feel like a new signing! Ain't going to happen but I still think he has plenty to give ?

{Ed001's Note - no one is interested in him because he is simply not very good. He has no end product, which is why Barca chose to rehabilitate Dembele, rather than play him.}

05 Aug 2022 03:54:34
Ed- can't argue with the end product stat cause his looks bad but I know what I've seen. I've seen us struggle to break down United for 60 minutes and then go on to win there for the first time in a long time quite simply cause he came on (as he dragged two defenders out of place and made space for Joao)! I've seen him make a City defence look amature in season when they went on to lose very few at home (with the rarest of things, him scoring)! And I've seen countless defences hack him down every five yards because weather he can use the ball or not they still don't want to let him skip past them (Spurs in particular spring to mind)!
Not surprised Barcelona didn't sign him as I said that they wouldn't when he went without a mandatory fee. But we ain't Barcelona and currenlty we have about 15 first team players fit! I understand that you might not rate him (and even accept that his end product is often woeful) BUT be honest Ed if you were playing FB who would you be most nervous to play against Hwang, Trincao or Adama?!
It's all relative with a squad this small I'm afraid! ?

{Ed001's Note - fair point, it is kind of like Everton signing Tarkowski. He isn't very good but compared to Keane and Holgate he is an improvement, so it makes sense. I still wouldn't want him anywhere near the team as he is paid too much for what he does provide and has a horrible attitude. He just doesn't learn. It is so frustrating to watch talent being wasted like that and is not good to have around youngsters coming through. You want them to have examples of players making the absolute most of their talents, rather than ones who are too stupid to use even a 10th of what they have at their disposal. You want players who inspire them. I am assuming that is the policy now anyway, as you have bought so few, to look at what is coming through the academy and try to work them into the squad. If not, I don't understand what is going on right now.}

Totally agree with St Ives and Bully’s Boy and believe we could get a really good season out of Adama rather than see him go to a competitor at a low fee.
Also I strongly disagree with Ed. His professionalism has been praised by all his managers (Pulis, Nuno and Lage) so I’m not sure where this attitude query is coming from. He’s fouled more times than any other player I’ve seen in football and it’s rare for him to get up and retaliate. He’s an exciting player who I have enjoyed immensely and hopefully he can move on to a European club having helped us to qualify for Europe this season ?

{Ed001's Note - his attitude to learning. He simply does the same thing all the time and has regressed rather than improved. I don't care what managers say in public, he is clearly not doing enough to get better.}

05 Aug 2022 13:45:32
Point accepted Ed but I do think there’s a real player there with the talent to be a big star in world football.
It’s his frustration and ours (in my humble opinion) that he hasn’t realised that potential at our club.

{Ed001's Note - I think it is too late for him to ever acheive it. He lacks football intelligence. Supposed to be a lovely lad and well liked, so it is a shame.}

05 Aug 2022 17:04:19
Ed 001 - has he regressed or has the team?
Pre Seville when he was widely lauded as unplayable etc etc he had reasonable statisitcs for a side that was basically very defensive and rarely got players forward to support him. As a percentage of our goals scored his contribution (goals and assists) was surely acceptable at over 25% despite him only playing 29 FTE games out of the 38.
However that was with Doherty, Jimenez and Jota as his closest support.
Over the next two seasons his output has fallen sharply in absolute and relative terms (just over 16% in 20/21 from again 29 FTE and a mere 5% albeit from only 11 FTE games last year) but all of his support was removed and he was forced to play with far far weaker players unable to benefit from his efforts.
Naturally this can be seen by the decline in Wolves goal scoring output and descent down the table.
Like many I'm hopeful that we may see a resuregence this year if we can provide him with a platform for his talents and colleagues capable of benefitting from them.
Ps what part of beatng players at will, drawing free kicks at will, carrying the ball up the pitch at pace and laying on chances, albeit over the last two years they have largely been spurned by his substandard colleagues, would you ask him to curtail?

{Ed001's Note - I saw him as a kid coming through, he is no better, in fact probably worse, than he was then.}
