Everton called to account!
Will it be them in sticky toffee or will be a fudge they end up in!

Whatever it's about time!

Someone's made a mint out of it Ken.

Ken with losses 3 x greater than is allowed in a 3 year period it'll be interesting to see what their defence is. All clubs lost money during Covid but not on that scale, so that won't wash.

Also I've read that they claim their owner is 'good for it' but that's not the point of FFP as we know, the club itself has to be good for it.

Unfortunately the PL has delayed these charges so that the punishment will not impact this season. If it is a points deduction it will be at the beginning of next season, which gives them the opportunity to avoid relegation. The overspend was known a year ago and if the charges had been brought at that time Everton would surely go down with a points deduction. How will the club finishing 18th feel about that?

I suppose it's possible that the charges were delayed by the process of evidence collection to ensure sufficient proof is available to those who adjudicate on these things. A bit like the Man City ones that took 4-5 years to pull together. No point charging someone unless you feel like you have a water tight case against them, I suppose.

Of course, there could be another reason all together but you're right Wimborne whatever the reason for the delay it's going to upset someone. Let's just hope it's not us.

Abbey, like the mint! Though as with most huff and puff regarding this issue in the last couple of years as I suspect toffee will become fudge!

Should Everton avoid the drop this season, I'd imagine should they be found guilty they'd be docked in and around 15 points, if point deduction in the championship is anything to go by.

Let's be honest, Everton will not be demoted by a panel. Even if relegated by normal means they won't have a relegation threatening dedudction in the championship. They're from Liverpool and as in Manchester these things don't happen.

Everton are one of the FA's love children so at most they'll be fined.

26 Mar 2023 17:20:11
I'd imagine there would be more than a fine for Everton, they're well above the threshold of FFP - what example will that set for the rest of the clubs?

It'll be a green light for every club to go above and beyond the limits.

Another scenario is should Everton get relegated this season, they'd be docked points next season and wouldn't come straight back up.

Good comment Debbie, if Everton were to get away without points reduction, then every other club would do the same as them, just hope we get enough points to stay up.
