Apparently Celtic and Wolves want to sign on-loan Tommy Doyle from Man City.

Debbie McGee

1.) 06 Aug 2023 09:11:36
I've always said Doyle be better signing than Scott

2.) 06 Aug 2023 09:16:18
Debbie what do u think about Doyle plus what do u think about JL it's been known that he's done this before.i would like to see potter in we need someone who is 100% committed and gets on with the job I no he's done brilliant job but we can't keep going through that manager is thinking of leaving because he can't get what he wants.he knew what was happening when he took the job on .

3.) 06 Aug 2023 09:27:25
Debbie Scott is over priced and not proven at this level.would u like us if we had £25 million to get Scott it be a risk not to take we got some brilliant midfielders Hodge will be priceless in years to come nunes free to play his game now nerves has gone

4.) 06 Aug 2023 09:34:16
Do not believe all that you read, he would have left by now if he was leaving. We all need to see how we start the new season, judging on pre season I believe we will do better than some people think.

5.) 06 Aug 2023 10:32:42
Not too sure why you're firing these questions directly at me, esp when I never mentioned J-LO being replaced.

What I would say is I think if Wolves had £25m to spend on a player, I doubt it would be spent on Scott. And I would agree with you on Hodge, I can see him being utilised more this season.

6.) 06 Aug 2023 10:59:02
Presumably Doyle is English, if City thought he was good enough surely they would hang on to him and use him as a squad player to see out games like they do with Foden who doesn't seem to be a first choice starter.

7.) 06 Aug 2023 11:49:08
Sorry Deb didn't mean to upset u

8.) 06 Aug 2023 12:33:08
What are you lot on about?
£25m for Scott is worthwhile.
He is 19 years old and will probably sign a 5 year deal.
That is dirt cheap for a promising England youngster he could be worth £100m in 3 years time.
He can plan in midfield and further forward similar to Foden and Grealish.
And he has 18 months under his belt at championship level.
Worth every penny with add on imo.
Wolves don't waste time scouting a player like this and for Julen to have spent time on it since November as well shows how highly rated at Wolves Alex Scott is.

9.) 06 Aug 2023 12:40:08
The point here is that Doyle would be a loan and Scott would be a purchase. So essentially it would be the choice of increasing value to an asset for City or increasing the value of our own asset?! I suspect if we are in for Doyle it is a way of improving our options this year as we can't afford Scott. Only issue being that (like most) of our current transfer policy there isn't much long term benefit for us with it though! ?

10.) 06 Aug 2023 13:38:28
They could be looking at both Bullysboy.
A purchase of Scott and loan of Doyle.
Personally I believe that we should sign young players and blood them through like Neto, Fabio Silva, Bueno and RAN.
We have a good season the players values increase again after this year's decrease in value of Raul, Neves, Diego Costa, Traore, Podence, Moutinho and Jonny.
We have to get ahead of the curve. I genuinely believe Silva will come good.
ODCL

11.) 06 Aug 2023 14:18:32
Maybe Mad but we currently have four cms whilst I suspect Scott would be used more as a AMF but (personally) I would not want to see a City loan player taking any minutes away from our own young talent (Hodge or in your scenario Scott). I do wonder if Doyle has been suggested by Hodge as they used to play together ?

12.) 06 Aug 2023 15:50:24
I'm not upset at all, just slightly confused to why questions were being asked of me over something I didn't post about. All good though ?

13.) 06 Aug 2023 16:43:51
100% Bullyboy I think both would play as attacking midfielders.
So either 2 of a midfield 3 or two side forwards in a front 3.
But with our strikers we have options with Cunha, Silva, Sasa and Hwang and Neto.
Also if we play 433 where does Nunes in?
Julen has preferred a 442 formation so where do Scott and doyle fit in then?
Are either of them better than our midfielders Lemina, Gomes, Traore and Hodge?
They will be signed to play similar to Grealish for us in my opinion. That link between Midfield and attack that Jota played beautifully for us.

14.) 06 Aug 2023 17:03:07
Well, you are able to pull a rabbit out of a hat, Debs.

15.) 06 Aug 2023 19:03:22
I agree Mad, for all the talk of how good we were yesterday you are bang on the money with the need for a bit of flexibility within the squad to tweak formations depending on the oppo. I also agree that Scott would be a great investment, I'm trying not to get hopeful but his move to Bournemouth has certainly gone very quiet! ?

16.) 06 Aug 2023 19:53:26
Im really concerned about wolves this year!
Pre season has gone well but feel that we are lacking
When the smaller premier league teams are spending just feel that we are going to be in a relegation fight.

17.) 07 Aug 2023 06:21:53
We already spent a huge amount if not all of our summer budget in January.
Those January signings have had more time at our club than those being signed by others this summer, so in that respect we are one step ahead.

18.) 07 Aug 2023 10:13:55
Very good point well made Phil and they're looking like a very hungry team, I know its only pre season but they've played the best football I've seen for a good while! Not a bad showing against a team that beat West Ham 3-1 and hammered Notts Forest 5-0, I'm not getting carried away but I'm optimistic we've got some great talent in our team and they're playing for each other and enjoying their footie. I'm looking forward to a better season. COYW

19.) 07 Aug 2023 11:31:40
If I'm right, and Debbie will obviously know, didn't reports state earlier that Doyle didn't want to come to us as he'd prefer to stay and prove himself at city. Maybe I dreamt it. Debs?

20.) 07 Aug 2023 21:47:58
Evening all wolf's just watched Larne v Dungannon Ireland league on sky.striker of Larne lowis great striker be worth looking at remember we got Keene .lowis would cost about £200.000

E&S reporting "Hayao Kawabe set for £1.3m move to Standard Liege"

Is it just me or are Wolves clearing the decks?

Debbie McGee

1.) 05 Jul 2023 17:54:09
Well those decks certainly needed clearing, Debs.

2.) 05 Jul 2023 17:56:24
I see Gobby Gabby on Talks**t radio has been slagging us off again. We are in for a gloomy season, says the little t***p. How do these guys get their jobs.

3.) 05 Jul 2023 18:22:29
Two years on loan at grasshoppers, 27 years old, I don't see any point in keeping him out on loan if he isn't going to figure in JL's plans.

4.) 05 Jul 2023 18:42:08
We all said a big clearout is needed now it's happening some are questioning the club they really can not win.
Trust the process Fosun have not let us down yet.

5.) 05 Jul 2023 19:51:28
Can't be many listeners outside the M25 Misterwolf. I gave up years ago because of the clear bias.

6.) 05 Jul 2023 19:52:39
I do agree with your premise Rated, as I always tell peeps on here that you can't judge the window until the day after it closes. But I have to be honest I'm not sure why peeps keep saying 'have Fosun let us down before' cause yes they absolutely have! In fact I would say the 3/4 transfer windows before Lope arrived were am absolute car crash, we ONLY stayed up because we got Lope. So I guess they redeemed themselves but this panic we are all seeing on here is a direct result of some of those decisions this time last year that saw us lose (what is quickly looking like) one of the most exciting homegrown young English prospects (MGW) and swap him for a player that didn't want to be here, didn't want to run and frankly didn't seem to care if he played (Guedes)! If we can even sell Guedes it will be for less than half of what we bought him for and realistically less than a third of MGWs current value!
Please don't take it the wrong way cause I like and agree with your optimism but I suppose all I'm saying is that there's a reason peeps are nervous (and pundits will be tipping us for relegation) and I'm afraid those reasons all point to Jeff's recent history! ??

7.) 05 Jul 2023 20:54:52
I really used to like Talksport but Gabby has ruined it for me now.

8.) 06 Jul 2023 06:22:07
All Gabby talks about is Villa, it's kind of embarrassing. Also, when you hear him talk about quality strikers, you'd swear he was one himself. And that "Godfather" piece is silly.

Gabby is raising his head above the parapet because Villa did have a very good second half of last season. And I think they'll kick on from there.

9.) 06 Jul 2023 10:05:32
The only sensible question Gobby is define a big club based on achievements? Which puts us well and truly in there. Fact.
Standard of Breakfast Talksport has dropped because they cannot get quality pundits.
One final question for GAbby - where do you find Everest? (The infamous quiz question he was asked on Talksport - he said the Alps)
That says it all

10.) 06 Jul 2023 15:45:38
Barton, everyone knows you find Everest in Yellow Pages Under Double Glazing. If their is one so-called pundit I can’t abide it’s big headed Gobby.

20 Jun 2023 09:22:21
E&S reporting Galatasaray are chasing Fabio Silva's signature.

Same article is saying Spurs are after Max Kilmann, "an offer of 30m+ would persuade Wolves"

Debbie McGee

1.) 20 Jun 2023 11:52:38
What we need is someone to buy him, not take him on loan. Easier said than done unless Jeff is prepared to take a massive hit on what was paid.

2.) 20 Jun 2023 13:11:32
Surprised you didn't get ribbed for quoting E+S Debs lol :P
All in good banter though ofcourse.

3.) 20 Jun 2023 13:30:14
If Ajax, Real Madrid, Galatasaray, Roma and AC Milan are after him (if you believe the media), then he must have something about him so surely Lopetegui will want to cast his eye on him first before making a decision.

4.) 20 Jun 2023 13:59:18
It seems Galatasaray is chasing some strikers. Gazzeta says that are in talks with Juventus for Kean.

5.) 20 Jun 2023 14:33:50
If we accept that we currently don't seem to have a fully functioning striker/center forward Fabio should at least be seen as back up for that position.

6.) 20 Jun 2023 18:03:25
I've always rated Fabio,he has great potential. To sell him would be an absolute tragedy.Have him back pre season,if he has the desire and commitment Lopettegi will recognise that and keep him.

7.) 20 Jun 2023 19:39:14
If we can generate cash by selling Fabio (who doesn't want to be here if the reports are correct) and reinvest that cash in a player that does, then do the deal.
This is how we are currently operating.
If we make a loss, then we make a loss. There is no other impact. His purchase price has already been accounted for in the balance sheet of a previous year. His sale will count as income in this financial year.
If he doesn't want to be here then cut him free, I don't care how good he MAY be in the future.

8.) 21 Jun 2023 09:19:43
It's the same old problem same with Guedes sign for big money and get their slice of it and big salary then say I don't want to be here. No good having players in the changing room who could be disruptive and a mood sucker. Only need players who want to be here like Dawson's Lemina etc, ok not the so called superstars but players who will give you full commitment.

18 Jun 2023 13:57:30
E&S have just printed an article saying "Wolves are in talks with Al-Hilal over a deal which would see Ruben Neves move to Saudi Arabia for £47million" (Matt Maher is the author)

Debbie McGee

1.) 18 Jun 2023 14:12:54
If true then clearly it is not about ambition but more about money.

2.) 18 Jun 2023 14:14:55
Good luck to Neves one of the best players to put on a gold shirt and the money if true will come in handy.

3.) 18 Jun 2023 14:15:07
Spanish media reports the same

4.) 18 Jun 2023 14:43:29
Been thinking about this one, I'll be glad if RN doesn't go to Barcelona with a swap deal for Ansu Fati, purely because AF doesn't want to come here. This way (if true) Wolves can get a decent amount of money for RN.

5.) 18 Jun 2023 14:55:47
It’s all over sky to, thought he wanted champions league football

6.) 18 Jun 2023 15:35:00
Same owners as Newcastle I think so won’t be surprised if he ends up there at some point

7.) 18 Jun 2023 15:40:45
Yes, it'll be for the money but I'm just grateful that we won't be playing against him in the Prem. Good luck to him, a couple of years there, then come back to us and then move back to Porto to finish his career, sorted.

8.) 18 Jun 2023 15:42:24
Like all footballers it's all about money. Loyalty and ambition go out the door. In all my years as a fan Ruben is the best I have seen in our gold shirt. Problem is how the money is spent, if recent signings are anything to go by it could be a bumpy ride.

9.) 18 Jun 2023 16:01:38
Well good luck to him and if the opportunity to maximise his earnings has come a few years early so be it.

10.) 18 Jun 2023 16:08:51
Good luck to Ruben, but a what a waste of talent.

11.) 18 Jun 2023 16:26:07
Offer been accepted Debs.

12.) 18 Jun 2023 16:35:48
Perfect for me.
Decent price.
Not have to face him.
Invest wisely with the cash.

13.) 18 Jun 2023 16:42:15
He's just gone down in my books. If he left because we couldn't match his ambition then fair enough but to move simply for the money when he is already a very rich man is another thing entirely. Just proves he doesn't actually want to play at the elite level anymore.

14.) 18 Jun 2023 16:47:10
That's the problem Ray, it's like a golden shot, this may well be the last chance to get this correct. If recent utterances from the club are anything to go by we are looking at purchasing 3 to 6 players in the 8 to 15m range from this sale. Maybe things will start to move but I can't help but feel we will be held to ransom unless the deals have been agreed already and we were waiting for the Ruben sale to generate the cash. Somehow I doubt it.

15.) 18 Jun 2023 16:56:39
Wolves in a no win situation, keep neves then leaves on a free end of next season or take the only concrete offer that has been offered for him, sorry to see him go but on the other hand did we miss him the 2 games he was banned, we won. both, take the cash invest wisely hopefully and move on,

16.) 18 Jun 2023 17:01:27
A good deal all round in my book.
Thank you Ruben for your fantastic effort and commitment to our great club.

17.) 18 Jun 2023 17:11:15
I reckon Wolves should insert a 1st option buy back clause into the sale!

{Ed002's Note - aThat would reduce the fee which is why only a couple of PL clubs take that approach on a regular basis.}

18.) 18 Jun 2023 17:13:45
In many ways a brilliant deal, we get more cash than we would probably have got from a domestic club, we won't have to play against him and he secures his long term future. His ambitions don't worry me, he's a grown man, able to make his own decisions who are we to criticise.
Let used hope we invest wisely.

19.) 18 Jun 2023 17:28:48
Well at least we'll use the money to improve the squad and Nunes will be free of the shackles that seem to hold him back when Neves is on the pitch.

20.) 18 Jun 2023 17:39:20
That's a complete urban myth, Jas. Nunes had no shackles whatsoever with Neves also on the pitch. As if Neves made him pass so sloppily and to drift out of games.

21.) 18 Jun 2023 18:10:22
Take the money and run
Mendes has ruined a legend

22.) 18 Jun 2023 18:27:56
He is big enough to make his own decisions, been a star for Wolves. I hope it all works out for him.

23.) 18 Jun 2023 18:37:52
In fairness to Neves I suspect we are pushing this deal FAR more than he is! He wants to go to Barcelona and if he wanted to could just wind his contract down and sign with them in Jan, but he knows then we wouldn't get any money for him. Don't get me wrong I realise that he wants to leave but we are FAR worse off if that's on a free. Peeps having a go at him need to realise that this is entirely on the club and YET another example of not managing our contracts properly! Good luck to him, sad to see him go and wish it was for a proper club but hey ho. Right let's get that £47m spent now! ?

24.) 18 Jun 2023 18:57:59
They always want more. So would I, I guess.

25.) 18 Jun 2023 19:09:00
If we can get 5 or 6 years out of him and make 30 million in profits ( not sure what kind of sell on clause is in his contract), why not.
He wants more money than Jeff will give him.

26.) 18 Jun 2023 18:51:00
I haven't got a problem with him leaving. I hope we spend the money wisely. My issue is that he clearly said he wanted Champions League football then signs for a club in Saudi Arabia. He could easily just sign a new contract with us if he didn't really want to ply his trade in the European competitions.

27.) 18 Jun 2023 19:01:08
Agreed to some extent Bully's but I suspect that we'd now find ourselves in the Championship if Neves had gone last summer and, let's not forget, it did seem fairly certain that he'd go then.

28.) 18 Jun 2023 19:47:02
I have to agree with BB- it's the club pushing this one, firstly to avoid any problems with FFP, secondly to give JL a chance of bringing in new faces and ensuring he stays.

Tho part of me thinks the announcement is to force the hand of others clubs who may have an interest

29.) 18 Jun 2023 20:41:50
Hope they have someone lined up to replace Ruben. No one there at the moment for to lace his boots . Nice to think Nunes could step up but not got the drive and work rate of Neves. When things are not going well be tends to drift out the game. It will need a good manager to change that mindset.

{Ed002's Note - They have lost out on one target already but have others in mind.}

30.) 18 Jun 2023 21:26:39
I know what ya mean Jas and like you I am genuinely disspointed that he won't actually be bettering himself in real terms. Just not sure it's that simple any more, we couldn't afford to give him a new contract and still sign news players as we are already struggling with FFP. Also like others I wonder if this will be a short term move (1 season) before he returns to Newc (for half the price to help them with FFP no doubt)!

31.) 18 Jun 2023 22:02:51
Al Hilal are same owners as Newcastle so it would not shock me if they loaned him to Newcastle that way they stay in line with FFP and only have to pay his wages :/ if it does happen the way I'm thinking then football will become very boring very quickly why owners want more than 1 club is beyond me.

32.) 19 Jun 2023 05:23:53
Mendes should send Guedes with him.

33.) 19 Jun 2023 07:12:14
That would reduce the overall price Atxabal.

34.) 18 Jun 2023 21:35:30
Also just have to ask Ed who was the one they lost out on? More just to judge how they are thinking of spending the money ?

{Ed002's Note - Branco Van Den Boomen.}

35.) 19 Jun 2023 14:59:20
He's taking one for the team. Maybe in a year, a new coach will be at Barcelona and it will make more sense for him to try to go there.
Meanwhile, he is getting Wolves out of a mess where his value was less because he wasn't able to find a team last summer.
He may be gone from Saudi in January or next summer. Who knows?

36.) 20 Jun 2023 11:57:26
Would you go for a 50%+ drop in wages Handsome? Me neither. He'll take his medicine and review the situation near contact end.

37.) 20 Jun 2023 19:57:46
Maybe he felt Barcelona wasn't offering him what he wanted so he parked is bus in Saudi Arabia until a better offer came around.
If I was already rich and would have to take a 50% pay cut and only make £100,000/week to make my dreams come true, I would consider it.
When you are backed into a corner, sometimes you have to think outside the box.
Barca are probably scratching their heads and wondering what happened.

08 Jun 2023 18:14:48
Spanish media are saying Real Betis have made an approach to sign Adama Traoré.

Debbie McGee

1.) 08 Jun 2023 18:59:49
I think he'll go to Saudi a few teams there interested in him including Nunos team, big money there too.

2.) 08 Jun 2023 20:30:59
Don't you need to be a minimum of 35 Rated?

3.) 10 Jun 2023 12:04:12
Old Wulf I can do 35 x 2 plus I'll do it for 10m will that work!

4.) 12 Jun 2023 09:42:20
Why would he want to go to a backwards league, I thought he wanted to be in a better team. he was offered big money at the wolves. nope I don't think he will leave and I don't think neves will be going either.

5.) 12 Jun 2023 12:25:17
I heard they'd offered Moutinho £50m a season and Adama £30m a season. Rumour is Jimenez is being eyed up too.

Bruno Lage has been sacked by Botafogo (three months in charge).

Debbie McGee

1.) 04 Oct 2023 14:33:20
While they are well ahead of the second place team.

2.) 04 Oct 2023 16:46:15
Botafogo were far more ahead of the second placed team, until they hired Bruno. The gap was shrinking under Bruno, so they took action.

Wolves capture teenager Enso Gonzalez on five-year deal

Debbie McGee

1.) 31 Aug 2023 13:32:33
Yes welcome Enzo, looking forward to seeing you in the pack.

2.) 31 Aug 2023 13:34:56
Seems to be a good piece of business and already talking about him being included in the first team squad, so one for now not the usual one for the future. Let's wish him luck.

3.) 31 Aug 2023 13:38:06
Six year deal for Enso with another year option.

Have any of you checked out Dazzling Dave's YouTube channel? he interviews a Bournemouth YouTuber - the Bournemouth's fans comments are not great. Two comments he constantly repeated "tactically unaware with no identity " and "you might be looking for another manager in four months"

Debbie McGee

1.) 10 Aug 2023 12:24:29
Hi Debbie, really appreciate you sharing.
Not exactly a ringing endorsement!
Interesting reporting that Shi has been out of the country and is not due back until September!
Apparently not personally involved in Lopetegui leaving, or the recruitment process.
Hobbs apparently did it all, which I find intriguing.
Hey ho.here's hoping.

2.) 10 Aug 2023 12:30:50
Sorry but this Bournemouth fan is an absolute numpty! Of course you won't find a fan that wouldn't take Iraola, he's generally regarded as one of the best young managers around right now and hilariously the 'Bournemouth fan' doesn't seem to even know that?!
I am worried by O'Niel and I'm not sure he's the right choice but I also think the guy in this vid would struggle to spell his own name! ?

3.) 10 Aug 2023 12:55:22
Watched this and it confirmed my own thoughts. Less than 40 games experience does not suggest to me that he will be a success at Wolves we will need to be planning now for his replacement or we will be caught flatfooted for the second time this season. Look forward to some diabolical results and a dive down the table.

4.) 10 Aug 2023 13:32:54
Apparently GON is bringing in Shaun Derry who worked with Patrick Veira at Palace. Although I have huge reservations if these guys can do well on the man-management side of things we have some talented players in the team that might excel if they are enjoying their football.
Jury out of course but we’ll support the team as we always do and will.

5.) 10 Aug 2023 14:01:36
Hi, being a little older I am a bit out of touch with this internet "journalism" stuff.
Can someone please answer a couple of questions?

1. Who is "dazzling Dave"?

2. Who is this "Dean Jones" character who seems to know everything?

Sorry if these questions seem daft.

Last, my late wife and I were season ticket holders for 32 years. Often we would visit The Crooked House, it's so sad to see what has happened to such an important historical place. Whatever has occurred, it's very sad. Our history should be preserved.

6.) 10 Aug 2023 15:22:04
Dean Jones I can’t help you with but Dazzling Dave is a big Wolves fan with a good size following. Put Dazzling Dave in search on YouTube. It’s a pretty good site. Regular contributors Manny and Sutty (no, not a forgotten TV double act) are always good for input ?

7.) 10 Aug 2023 15:59:31
Do you think Dazzling Dave is knowledgeable about football?

Only online resource reporting Wolves and breach of FFP is the iNews, while a lot more are carrying the Everton / Forest story.

As for the PL wanting Wolves out, that's 100% toilet water (aimed at whatever "expert" made that comment)

In the championship, and The Saints have bought another forward, if CA is that good why get another forward?

This is the problem with the sale going though so late in the window. There is as of now a day and a half to replace Nunes.

How can all three clubs sue Everton?. In the report it stated the PL wanted to apply the punishment last season, so Everton would've only occupied one relegation place. Or am I being thick?

I feel for the guy, he does put a shift in, but it's increasingly obvious he's not up to scratch.

Wolves took a punt on him and it just hasn't worked out for either party. I'd love to see him resurrect his career with someone else.
