Welcome to the site Wolvo1963. I don't think Lopetegui is out of his depth. He is a vastly experienced manager with a trusted backroom team. The issue is that he is currently working with players who are either not good enough or not playing to their potential. He has brought in 6 players so far bur others need to be moved on. The majority of the players were here under Nuno and Lage so you have to ask, is it the coaches who are failing because they're not good enough or the players not good enough or caring enough or something in between.

I think it might be that lope as arrived in the English prem at the wrong time in the wrong position and maybe underestimated the basic English game when faced with a relegation battle. Do you play your way out or defend first and foremost? Welcome wolvo1963 by the way, and good valid points jas.

Welcome onboard Wolvo1963. I must admit even before JL joined us I did wonder if he was the right sort for a relegation scrap in the Prem.
I did feel, however, that he would of elevated us away from that risk by now. He still might, but I think it will be a close run thing.

Yes agree longmynd but so so much depend on other results now. West ham didn't help yesterday, we can only hope for spurs to start helping by winning tonight. Brighton and vile tomorrow and either Leeds/forest draw or forest win maybe? Then kick start again by beating Chelsea, Brentford won't be easy, man u who knows but the big ones will be Leicester and Everton. We can only hope it clicks together.

JL tactics and squad selection has been bizarre at times and there hasn't been a settled team selection since he arrived so some players are probably left as confused as the fans.
Select the best players in their best positions and make sure they know what is expected of them. It's not rocket science.

When we were our best in the premier we played pretty much the same team week in week out.
Injuries we were very fortunate in our 2 best seasons that we didn't have many.
Imo the core of the team has to he playing together week in week out.

No I don't think he is tbh and welcome to the site Wolvo mate, the situation is he has inherited the same players who screwed over Nuno, then went on the screw over Lage, then tried to screw over Davies and now they're trying it with Lope.
Issue is most of the players think they are better than they actually are.
I think we will stay up just about then Lope will clearout this egomaniacs and bring in his own players and next season we will fly.

Afternoon all, been a while. I'm with you there Rated, I'm confident we will survive, but the team we today will be very different next season, I think our biggest problem and one LOP has inherited is the style of players we have, the last couple of games have been too passive in our play, Lemina has been the player who has been taken off, O feel he has been hard done by, as the play has been negative and way too deep, this stops his game breaking up play, too many times we see the midfield coming back level with the defence, it suffocated the play as teams press us higher into our own half, the 2 midfield men need to.be higher up pitch and allow the defence a bit of space to work with the ball, instead of the 10 yard pass to be played straight back again, went we finally do get out across half way, it's either a side ways or backwards ball played, Cuhna when he has the right players behind him will thrive, his movement is too often wasted as the ball is never played into the space, midfield needs to.be more aggressive when on the front foot, maybe Neves missing the next 2 games we will see a more aggressive style when on the attack, I love Neves, but sometimes he slows our play down too much. Nunes needs to step up, he has pace to.burn and is good a driving through the middle, he just needs to use the ball better. I think.bext season we will see what LOP is about. Il.take the 3 points this weekend, flying over with the young lad for game, he's Chelsea, so I'm.out for revenge after our day out at the bridge
