Given that the common belief is that Neves will leave us this summer and Moutinho retiring? l feel far more comfortable knowing that we have an effective midfield core in Nunes, Lamina and Gomes. With Cundle coming along nicely one decent signing would see most midfield bases covered.

Had forgotten about Cundle Winton also we have hodges coming through.
Babacar Traore too.
Looking good in the midfield department.

You are retired a long time and I think Moutinho has at least one more top flight season in him. He's still excellent at controlling games in the last half hour or so.

Keeping Moutinho would hinder progress of younger players, namely Boubacar Traore, Cundle and Hodge. He would definitely get a two year deal back in Portugal. Would also free up significant wage for any new recruit.

I agree oldwulf, but also with you Wolfthistle. I am the only one who now cringes a little, when say 1 up with time running down, to hear mouts name announced to come on? Yes he can take control but he can also slow things down and take whatever impetus we had back to risky cross park and backward balls. Maybe it's just my nerves? But freeing up the wages could give us more?.

I'd take totally the opposite view,Wolfthistle. The presence of such a top, experienced player can surely only help the development of those at the early stages of their career. Not sure why you cringe Abbey. Just look at the impact he had against Liverpool and to a lesser extent Chelsea. I certainly wouldn't start with him anymore but his abiland nous at the culmination games is virtually priceless.
