Personally I was hoping today along with the new shirt that other exciting news was going to come out of Molineux. (1 signing at least). Maybe tomorrow?.who knows?.
But just a thought, imagine if we don't sign anyone at all in this window and we start the season terrible. Has jef shi or the board ever witnessed when Wolves fans turn?. Not to my knowledge,i think they would be in for a very big shock indeed. As Wolves fans can be the worst in the country in voicing there disappointment's in owner's.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reans, Wolves have put a compilation of all Neves's goals on the website and YouTube. I mention it because, it's well worth a watch and if he is staying this may well be a precursor to that, along with Moutinho and maybe MGW we may not need midfield reinforcements after all.
The clickbait seem to think we are now chasing strikers and defenders which would be logical so let's hope we land someone as no one wants the scenario you suggest.

My worst fear Reans,
With all the extreme negativity with no signings you can see why.

But I genuinely feel we will be a lot better this coming season than a lot on social media think.

No one saying one single thing of our good points from last season just understandable frustration of lack of signings.
Each to their own But the more time goes by without signings the more joining the bandwagon of discontent towards our club.
Will refrain from posting as its hard reading disappointed post after disappointed post.
Wolves are supposed to be fun but not a lot of that about.
Not knocking no one respect all posts like I say each to their own.
See ya next season.
Still in my head Neto brace agaisnt Leeds.

Agree Phil. The other thing that gets forgotten is that with younger players they can improve not just over time but during pre season.

Last season we were pretty good defensively. Saiss and Marcal have gone, but Kilman will have improved and Toti is breaking through. Also if we shift to a back two (which is a possibility) then by design you need one less centre back. Boly barely played last season, but we know he's good enough, and we haven't even really seen Mosquera yet.

We could do with a couple of players, but they have to be the right ones. The main concern is the lack of numbers in the goals columns. The assist column is slightly irrelevant as for an assist you need a goal. Signing a proven forward would help, but every team in the league wants one of those. The other thing you can do is convert more set pieces as a goal from a freekick can easily turn 1 point into 3. We could also do with winning more penalties as we didn't win many. A change in system can also help as can putting more bodies in the box. A final option which we didn't do enough of last season is the high press in the opposition half. Press them into mistakes, it pulls players out of position and creates opportunities.

Phil as usual I love your extreme optimism! But imo we need another mature centre back. A young box to box attacking midfield player and an out and out striker then I would agree with you. Which I'd like to be mate, always want to be in the happy camp!

Alex and Phil - oddly whilst I completely agree that we can perform at an acceptable level without any new signings this summer I see us doing it in a different way.
On the downside I don't believe we will be as strong defensively.
Firstly the middle section of the season - when we got virtually all of our points last year - was incredible, well out of kilter with normal and thus unrepeatable.
Is Sa really the best GK in the Prem by a country mile is Saiss one of the best defenders in the league - statistically he was!
But mainly because Saiss has left the club, sadly I think Boly is pretty much done and Moutinho (with Neves) surely won't be able to cover the defence and control the game to the extent they did last year as he is yet anothe year past his prime. The return of Otto and RAN's development offset this a bit but not enough
However!
Going forwards however we will be much much better.
Neto replaces Trincao! That alone is a massive change and should see us far more incisive.
Also Podence and Traore will both be fit and raring to go and hopefully - and this part is hope I agree - Jimenez will be more effective with better support from Neto et al.
Clearly it is not an ideal situation but a fully fit and motivated front lne of Neto, Jimenez and Traore is as good as it gets outside of the top 3 or 4 sides and thus I think our GF improvment will more than offset our GA decline!
Thoughts?

Imagine if we don’t sign anyone and start the season really well, will the fans still be disappointed. I remember last season there were people saying the players aren’t good enough and we will get relegated, well I think those players improved and we had a relatively good season. I’m keen to see the young players get a chance, after all what’s the point in signing them in the first place if they won’t be playing in the first team. I don’t understand the school boy mentality of needing to spend loads and sign players just so they can tell their friends we signed someone. Personally I hate the amount of money in football so it’s nice to see my team not spending and still competing. Would it be nice to be a top 6 club? Of course but glory hunters can go support Man Utd I’m happy with the ride wolves are on.

My biggest worry is that we continue the form that was demonstrated through the last 15 or so matches of last season.
If we do then it is going to be a difficult season for all our fans.

I had a dream, last night,we win league by six point,Jimenez, golden boot, beaten in FA cup final 2-1 by man utd ?????

Winton - I totally understand your fears - that was not just relegation form but cast adrift relegation form. However it was not that surprising. We have a tiny squad with v little quality outside the first 11 - who are v good but largely ageing.
Consequently they simply run out of steam. A couple of injuries and we are down to the bones relying on inexperienced kids or players who are clearly not good enough - Trincao, Fabio or Hwang?
However after a long rest, (and this season we get a break again for the world cup), the first 11 should be back to form and may even be able to go longer - despite being a year older!
Not optimsitic but realistic.
Without any significant investment in the first 11 for the 3rd season in a row we are starting to creak but this year we should still be fine.

TFIOG - I think it's a fair point that if we score more we will most likely concede more. It's always a difficult thing to balance. With what we currently have I think we should finish around 10th again next season. A couple of additions, provided they work out could see us get a couple of places higher.

If last seasons form continues into the first 10 games next season then it's obvious the manager would be gone and it's anyone's guess what happens afterwards to the form of the team.

Pre seasons can make a big difference to players. We may get to see the Hwang from his first 5 games under us. We may see the one who finished last season. He may be played in a different position.

Whether anyone comes in or not there are a lot of unknowns. Either way I'm looking forward to next season and hopefully seeing a couple of the prospects like Chiquinho and Cundle develop.

Goatmark we start every season with some preaching relegation. Some people just have a glass half full approach, others appear on here at this time of the year just to be controversial to get a reaction.
Yes, 2-3 suitable signings would be appreciated I'm sure, as the squad is thin right now, unless they plan to flood the bench with younger players, which I think would be a mistake.
The only people who really know how good these players are the ones paid to manage/work with them, so personally I plan to wait and see what the team looks like at the end of the window before jumping to any conclusions.

09 Jul 2022 13:31:47
Alex you see how I see it.

All good and valid views by all.

Fingers crossed we all get what we want out of the wolves.

09 Jul 2022 13:54:02
Alex - all good points and agree.
Would hope for a repeat of 10th {and agree that either appropriate additions or a recovery from Jimenez could see us a bit higher} but fear that with a number of sides improving whilst, subject to the additions or Jimenez's recovery, we are at the very best standing still it will probably be slightly below that 13?
After Seville I was looking at Arsenal, Spurs, Leicester and Man U etc to see what they were doing and if we could compete and get ahead of them now i'm looking at Leeds, Everton, Southampton etc to see if we can stay ahead of them.
Guess its a bit sad I just fear that the opportunity to be a top 6 side has been lost - no given away - and may well not come again in my lifetime.
But Goatmark after more than 50 years of following Wolves, including attending with literally a few thousand in those dark dark days in Div 4 like you i'm stuck with the team for good or bad

With due and deference respect to all above my (and I think a lot of posters too) real gripes are at the misleading comments regards recruitment. We've got money for the right player in January, Bruno lays out what he wants in new players pre window, now with the clickbaits and rumours to names going going to other teams it seems we are in financial crisis. Neves is still here, traore as gone no where, MGW nowhere (yet?). So we're holding out for the right prices and not simply cashing in. I'm bemused with fabios loan, and indeed somewhat with sandersons. Injury or suspensions and age may force the youngsters into action. Cundle as shown capability, but maybe its abit early for full blown action. With that in mind it would be nice to bolster the squad. The team as it would stand at present should be a safe mid top table, maybe pressing more if it can click in front of goal. And there it is, are we saving cash by cutting wages and not selling or buying? Are we holding for big money income from sales and last minute youngster introduction/purchases. Is bruno happy with what he's got? Who knows, but happy or sad whatever the situation I am and always will be wolves and follow every game with a will to win. Can't wait for the preseason friendlies on wolvestv when perhaps things will become a little clearer? My (not itk) opinion is that we'll see some surprise arrival. COYW
