To save going out of my mind during the international break, and because it's been 55 years since my first game at the Golden Palace, I've picked a best XI, plus 3 subs, from that era 1966-2021! In a 3-4-1-2 formation, HERE GOES : Murray ; Munro Coady Lescott ; Doherty Bailey Hibbitt Otto ; Keane ; Richards Jimenez (Thomas Jota Bull) #Loving my team, Feedback Please. COYW p. s Head Coach:Bruno, No.2:Nuno (literally) FWAW.

Preston great post. My first game is 1967 so basically the same era.
Had a v good lunch so not at my most cogent but here goes.
I am concious of two biases - recency - where the current team is better than all the ones in the past and teenage years bias - the team from when I was in my early teens must be the best as it is in those years we are at our most impressionable.
However as it happens the McGarry team of the early 70s and the current side are indeed even without bias undoubtedly and sadly the best I have seen. This with a nod to John Barnwell and a eyebrow raise to Dave Jones is clearly confirmed by our long sojourn in the lower leagues from the mid 70s to the current resurgence.
Not surprsingly then the majority of my teams will be from those two periods.
i have picked two teams - one the best players to have played for Wolves and one the players to have played the best at Wolves ie the first contains players we sold before their prime or we bought after their prime but their Prime was superb and the second only includes those that performed at the highet level whilst at Wolves.
Clearly there is overlap but the former easily beat the latter
Team A Patricio, Irwin, Munro Lescott, Hughes, Ince, Moutinho, Bailey, Traore, Keane, Jimenez
Team B Murray, Doherty, Munro, Coady, Boly, Parkin, Bailey, Neves, Traore, Richards, Jimenez.
Thousand apologies for the obvious stars I have forgotten but as I said it was a good lunch!

Good picks future! I'd have gone with Phil Parkes in goal, always liked him, many didn't I know! Glad Parkin got in and the late Francis Monro. My bench would have Stevie Kindon, Waggy and the Doog why? Because I loved 'em to bits!

Re:thefutureisgold ; my team was based only what they did at Wolves. Fantastic to see all of your selections, most of which that I didn't pick, were on my short list. Had to leave out some of my all time faves e. g. Curle, Neto, SEB, Doog and Waggy! Thanks all for responding. FWAW.
