Total conjecture, as unlike others on here, I don't have a hotline to the Boardroom. But my fourpenny worth Is this: Arsenal looking to resign Ceballos on loan for a year and Aubameyang refusing to sign until they show their intent to invest in the club, probably Thomas Partey, defensive midfielder. Arteta needs to sell to finance the above and ANM was earmarked to be part of that process and probably still is. If we want him a bid north of £20 million would probably secure the move. I think he would be a huge addition to our team.

Agree0 Disagree0

About 10 days ago Arteta was quoted as saying that the board had told him that he had to sell him to help finance his transfers. He doesn't want to sell him that's why he's been playing him so who knows? Could be a good buy but there are plenty more out there. We shall see!

Just seen a report saying Ghoulam from Napoli one of Mended players is likely to join Wolves. Don't see it tbh at 29 doesn't sound like our sort of signing. Mind you at the moment we need someone!

I'm seeing the Arsenal fans saying exactly the same things on forums! Looks like they basically have to choose between selling Martinez and AMN to get the extra money they need. When you actually look at where Arsenal are lacking I think they would be MAD to sell Martinez. Time will tell but I also agree that I think there's still legs in it 👍.

First time posting.

Been scared to as it seems a few people reduce arguments to ad hominem.

I would say people are allowed to voice concern. We have been here before with fans. A select few on bith sides raging. The doom sayers and the happy clappers. The rest of us occupy the sain space of having hope but not thinking Fosun to be intrinsically devine and like Gods.

We need to progress this season and Nuno DID say he wants the squad to be improved. And yes we could sign players but tbh we are in the position of having to replace players just to have a starting team.

We have youngsters, yes. But they cannot play a full season at top level. It would be damaging to their progress. Prem is a different level to youth leagues. The toll on the body is harder and until 21 their bodies are still developing.

I remain hopeful that we will bring in 5 players, as in my opinion that's what we need.

And people need to stop saying about needing another striker. We don't use strikers. We use a CF. That is what Raul is. Its where he plays. There is a difference. Jota is a Forward as well. A striker has a different role. Seriously just google it.

Anyways. These next dozen days will be the test. Jeff has said there won't be changes in how they do business which means they won't go out and overspend. They will probably look to loan before buying unless its someone Nuno personally knows. I think its also a case of the market not being in the best state. If we get players it will be ones that are a steal like Mout, Rui and Neves. And let's face it, we do keep signing these types. So another Boly, another Jonny, Another Mout and an actual left back might see us reach Europe again. Though with a limited squad thanks to FFP.

Not wanting to be a harbinger of doom nor wanting to say I don't have fears. The Doc thing was a big blow given his goal contribution. I don't think it was him wanting to go. I think it was a case of he had to go to free up money. Maybe there is more to the AMN saga. Maybe the £13.5m is to fund an improved offer? I mean who knows. Maybe to fund Messi's wages? We could only dream of seeing him in Old Gold, but it's a fun dream.

Also. Can anyone say how do loans affect FFP? Is that why Jeff prefers them? Or is it just a cautious "try before you buy" deal?

{Ed002's Note - Loans are dealt with on the actual cost basis. Wolves have their punishment and have to abide by it.}

Nice post CodeWolf, and welcome.

codewolf you hit the nail on the head with ad hominem.
We have had 3 wonderful years and I guess fans are scared of that stopping.
The tit4tat on here I guess is just harmless banter.
We all want wolves to carry on the success we have had.
We were up against it the start of last season with extra europa league games and with nuno having a small squad but we did better and exceeded expectations.
Being a mad born and bred wolves fan my thoughts are always positive that we can have another better season and exceed expectations again.
I got no problem if others see different they all want the same as me and every other wolves fan.
12 days to go and then the fun will really start.
Another point with no Europe this season nuno will have more time on the training ground between matches which I think will go in our favour.
Yes new signings are a must and we'll just have to wait and see what unfolds.
FWAW.

Welcome CodeWolf, a good insightful post. I'd disagree on the need for another striker for many reasons. We need cover for Raul, we can't play him to death. Also a second striker would provide competition for Raul. Furthermore, another striker would be an insurance policy against an injury to Raul and/ or a possible capitulation by Wolves if a big tempting bid comes in for him. We saw how the bid from nowhere for Doherty blew us all away. Imagine if it's Raul next?

Yeah I agree Raul needs back up but he isn't a Striker. But Jota is meant to be a forward as well, not a winger.

I agree that we need depth of squad but i'd say we need defenders more. We only have 3 midfielders atm as Saiss is now a defender. Get a CB and it means Saiss and Leander can be back up to both Midfield and Defence.

And Ed, never said they didn't have to abide by rules. Simply asked how loans affect FFP since I am not an expert and don't work in the industry.
