Cesar Peixoto said that they were both back training and could be on the bench for the game on Sunday. He also said Rafiki Said is due to restart training on the grass next week and should be available in the next few weeks.

We may not have the best squad in the league, but as long as we win our games, I don't really care about the likes of West Ham. Yes, the table looks bad at the moment, as West Ham are 6 points ahead of us and have just trounced Wrexham 6-0, but we have played 2 games less.

5 games is too early to write off this team, considering our only loss is to, according to some, the vastly superior team.

BB - The squad is obviously not, but the first 11 probably are not that far away.
The problems are that the first 11 contain at least 2 old boys, unlikely to be able to play week in week out, and, of course, will inevitably suffer injuries/suspensions, and, as stated, the squad/depth is woefully inadequate.
To be honest, though, I am a natural bear, and I thought things would be far worse than they are.
The manager is def getting more out of them offensively, and keeping Andre and Krejci, albeit the latter seemingly not wholly willingly, is a major fillip to the prospects of the team.


The signings of James, Trippier and Raul, acknowledging the latter 2 have question marks over their durability, were also very positive.
Add in the emergence of Djiga and, especially, Lopez, and things are def better than they could have been.

I defo agree, TFG, that things are better than they could have been and also better than some had predicted. However, from what I've seen so far I'm not entirely convinced that we have a defence up to finishing in the auto promo spots, and anything less basically means a lottery come the end of the season. Also, let's be clear here, West Ham's squad at the start of this season really was vastly superior to ours, and the stats show it. They finished on almost double the points we managed last season (and arguably should have stayed up, but that's a debate for Nuno to face). Then there's transfers, West Ham sold players off to the tune of £186m, whilst despite our best efforts to drum up business we mustered a tiny £36m (those are just up front payments and don't take extras into account on both fronts)!
So other clubs judged their one midfielder (Fernandez) to be worth well over double that of our club's best player (Gomes), so let's be realistic here, 'cause the numbers don't lie.
Still, though, I'm not sure where I said I was writing anyone off. I just think the realities of this league are already starting to sink in.

I had one or two just a week or so ago telling me we had the best squad in the league, and it wasn't true then or now!
We have let in some seriously weak goals already, and that needs to stop, and it needs to stop next game. Clean sheets are important in any league, and if we keep defending corners in the way we have then we won't get many this season.
Despite our defensive woes, I worry just as much about our attack. I don't especially rate Piroe, but he already looks like a perfect striker for this league. Meanwhile, we have Armstrong taking rugby conversions in front of open goals!
Like many are saying, I think we have a very big month ahead. Win a few games and build up some steam, and we should start kicking on. Lose most of them or don't turn up against the Baggies, and the wheels might start to come off very quickly! Let's hope Cesar has been working them on the training ground and we finally look capable of defending a corner, because a win and a clean sheet on Sunday would go a long way to getting us all looking up the table again. 👍

BB, I certainly wasn't being critical of your, as always, v sensible post.
You basically make 4/5 points, all of which are fairly obviously true.
WHU squad at the start of the summer was axiomatically far better than Wolves.
After the summer, it is pretty clear that it still is, although, as I have said, Wolves' first 11 is in the conversation.
Their sales were amazingly better than Wolves - just watched a v v ordinary Fernandez - until he was hooked!
If he is worth more than twice Gomes, WHU would not have been relegated!
However, this has been discussed till the cows come home, and sadly the cruel reality is that Wolves simply sell players v v badly, and everyone knows it, so it continues!
Wolves have been v poor defensively - especially on crosses/corners - but it should now improve with Trippier, Krejci and Sa returning to bolster the defence.


Offensively, Wolves can do better - although it hasn't been too bad - and, with James and Raul getting fitter and contributing more, this should also improve.
Finally, of course, it is a big month, and wins are def required to keep Wolves in touch with the league's top sides.

Well now Fosun have sold everything they could so far to rake some of their money back. They're hoping to sell club for 500 million ha ha.
If they get 150 million I would be surprised. At the moment it's a shambles.
Over the past 2 seasons we are like a sinking ship.


Nobody running this club now seems to care. No ambition & who in their right mind would want to play for Wolves the way it is being run at moment.
I would love to see new owners somebody who knows about football
& willing to invest in what once was a great football club.

Take it we're not looking at the table, fixture disruption hasn't helped but by the time we play again we'll be eight points off the top, Everton away is a bit of an inconvenience and already our next home game is going to be the ultimate embarrassment and a stark reminder of where Fosun are taking our Club, the damage they've done ie irreparable, by them anyway.

Other teams haven't improved that much, most Clubs haven't spent a great deal of money, what they have is owners who care and squads of players who want to play for them, players who know they haven't been signed with the sole intention of being sold on asap for profit, Fosun's policy for seven out of their ten years has and is still destroying what is now Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club in name only, they had everything, we trusted in them, some unexplainably still do, the next couple of months could be a real eye opener for a considerable number of fans loyal to the Club.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't 7 teams above us played one more game? And we've only lost 1 competitive game so far.

The transfer policy is questionable, but it's a consequence of self sustainability driven by PSR, and by the owners with their failures to invest in other areas to generate additional revenue to then help with PSR.

This season is difficult. It is partially due to poor recruitment in previous windows and a drop in revenue. The owners are at fault for who they had in place to handle the footballing side of recruitment.

There's a mess that, if it's sorted in 1 summer window, would have been a miracle.

It's easy to say get rid of players, but the reality is no one wants to pay half of them what Wolves do. And you can't recruit more with transfer fees or millions extra on the wage bill without creating a bigger financial mess.

The facts are the owners won't invest and the club owes them a fortune too in loan money. They haven't developed the infrastructure, which is their biggest failing. And they have recruited badly.

Get defence sorted, Wolves will be there. But still worried about letting Lima go on loan; it makes no sense when Trippier is injured.

I know as well as most that fosun haven't been great recently and have admitted being wrong to trust them. But I guess you don't allow people changing their mind, as long as you have someone to argue with and call a happy clapper no doubt.

I didn't say they were anti Fosun, I was questioning if the reason for making false statements was because of an anti Fosun agenda. And asking that question doesn't make me pro Fosun. I was glad to hear there is talk of them selling. I just don't see the point making stuff up to make it seem like we are in a worse state than we are, is it not already bad enough without the added fear mongery?
Personally I think the club did quite well in the recent window.

Keeping many of the players that according to some posters were definitely going to leave. Like the young talent of R Gomes, H Bueno, Mane and Lopez who were all tipped to leave. While also getting rid of player many people said weren't good enough, like other Bueno, Hwang, Wolfe and the two keepers. Does it make up for past mistakes, probably not but at least it's a sign that maybe the club has learnt something.

My opinion on Santi: he wants to leave but nobody put a bid in so he's staying. But CP has left our best Right CH out of the squad. Djiga is alright, but not in the same league as Santi. Then Mosquera injured but a bull in a china shop. But as I see it, Wolves Wolves are worse of the defence after 5 games is shocking.

Me put Santi in the 25 man squad till Jan then see what happens. Him Krejkci to best CH for Wolves, who do you leave out? Toti not a problem. Just my opinion, would make Wolves better.

Sorry, DMac123, but Djiga has pace and strength. Santi has neither of those attributes. Santi's impressive in a sweeper role, but he's not good enough when in a four.

Djiga also has a much higher ceiling than Santi.

A back four with Trippier, Santi Bueno, Krejci and Hugo Bueno would be okay, but I feel that Trippier will prefer Djiga's pace next to him.

Train, it's not all about pace, it's about positioning and control. That's why Wolves have conceded more goals than anybody, bar Burnley. Djiga is alright, but not experienced enough. Mosquera is an absolute nightmare. Santi is the best of the 3, and with Krejci, the best ch pairing in the Champ.

Hi, tfiog. I've been on here before, but I get frustrated and leave for a while. My love for Wolves brings me back. Thanks for your kind words.

I genuinely believe that with the back four, Trippier is the final piece of the jigsaw. He will want/require a fast player next to him. Djiga is perfect.

Mosquera was one of the fastest defenders I've ever seen, but two major injuries have stripped him of his electric pace. However, he is a very important player for Wolves. He can also play three positions: RB, RCB & LCB.

Santiago Bueno was - at times - impressive in a back five playing in the sweeper role, but he's not the right player for a back four, especially in a team that plays such a high line.

Wolves have tried to sell Santi before.

They've even tried to loan him out. You can't drop Djiga to bring Santi in.

I watched West Ham vs Bolton, and there isn't much else to come from the Hammers. What you see now is what you'll get all season.

Middlesbrough lose Will Lankshear and they lose most of their potency. I haven't been overly impressed by Middlesbrough. They simply have an excellent goal scorer.

Southampton have looked okay, but I haven't been blown away.

Three strong sides, but Wolves have room for improvement that those sides don't have.

Quite simply, at times this season - so very early on - Wolves have left me with the Mick McCarthy face from the Charlton game when Sylvan Ebanks-Blake scored That goal!

Djiga has been pretty solid. He is making plays and covering for others. He busts his arse out there. Now that Toti is out of the starting 11, I hope for good. I believe our only defensive weak spot is RB until Trippier returns. I would try Lima in place of Tchat unless Konan can cover.

None of you mention them lot down the road. They've got b******* this season & they'll be up there. I hate them as much as anyone, but if we're not careful, the undateables will do us this time. We're simply not good enough, but we've got better players than most in this league, so who's to blame????.

Me, personally, will wait to see the team sheet for Sheff Utd & then we'll see where the problem is..cus we cannot play & expect anything after that 2nd half showing against Blues.

Just thinking about Jackson. Poor, poor own goal, but with Trippier injured we don’t have anyone else to start. Feel bad for him about all the comments been said about him. The own goal was his and Sa’s fault for not letting him know he was there.



Raul hasn’t been brilliant, as both goals scored by him so far this season have been pens. Play Neave up front with him will work better.

I don't understand why people seem to suddenly think that we can hear everything that is said/shouted on the pitch? Is there some sort of Sky coverage I'm missing out on? Because unless the answer is yes, then I don't especially understand how anyone can say with any certainty that Sa didn't give him a shout. I also don't really understand the premise of that either, so are we saying that goalkeepers now need to scream at defenders to tell them not to pass the ball back at a ridiculous head height? Because if so, then footy has a much bigger problem generally, because I can safely say (without being told by a goalkeeper) that no keeper wants the ball passed back to their face?!
It was a bad mistake, and that's all there is to it.

We move forwards and all that, but this notion that a paid professional keeper has to narrate to a paid professional defender on how they should pass/look up before passing seems somewhat bizarre and ridiculous to be honest. 🤔

Nuno had one season in the Champ. Not sure how that makes him battle-hardened. He also has the luxury of having the best squad in the league, just like he did last time he was here. I don't recall many Wolves fans bemoaning his lack of Champ experience whilst we were smashing the league last time he was in it.

It shouldn't make a difference where a manager has had previous experience; a good manager is a good manager. If Cesar falls into that category is still to be decided, but no one can be certain after just 5 games, especially in a table where we've played one less game than the two clubs leading the way.

Give him a chance to get the players that have been brought in up to speed, then let's see how the performances go from there. Then, if no significant improvements, then have a dig.
