Oliver Skipp wants a move away from Leicester. He doesn't want to play in League 1. They want at least 13-15 mil for him. He could be a steal for Wolves. Middlesborough were interested but did not meet the valuation. He is an amazing player, still 25. A Fosun-like signing?

New know what really pisses me of with Wolves and there signings. Wolves got relagated and 3 teams go up there all spending money but not 1 Wolves player has gone to any off them. Just proves how bad they are and why Wolves are in the situation there in. You could not make it up what an absolute shambles Wolves have become under Fuson.

How many Premier League teams are going to want Jackson Tchatchoua, Sam Johnstone, Jose Sa, Toti Gomes, Marshall Munetsi, Hee-chan Hwang or Tolu Arokodare? One or two of them, naming no names, are absolute f****** gash.

They're the players that I can think of that Wolves should be selling as a matter of urgency.

Either high wages, stinking attitudes, or just plain s*** - or, sadly, all three.

I haven't added Ki-Jana Hoever because he's basically a nominal fee with a sell on percentage.

I don't understand. Are you complaining that we haven't/can't sell players to Championship rivals? Or that we aren't selling to Premier League teams like Gomes and Villa? Why would we want to sell to rivals for the players to then haunt us? Better sell abroad, no?

Unfortunately, still very quiet regarding new signings. I thought we would have used some of the money from the sale of Joao to get at least a couple in.
Are they waiting for more outgoings before making new additions?
Surely we need more additions if we are going to challenge for an immediate return to the PL.
Raul and Trippier should be great additions, not sure about Said (think that his name).


At this stage it seems the same story as last year regarding further signings, last minute with no time to settle into the side, hope I am wrong and a few signings made soon 🤞.
Maybe the new manager is happy with the players we have, wouldn’t have thought so though.

Banksy51, the new manager is expecting more new bodies through the door when, who knows. I think Wolves are trying to clear players out and make space, plus get rid of wages: Tolu, Sa, Johnstone, Munetsi, Hovear, plus others.

Said clearly likes to run with the ball. The issue against Maidehead is the ball was bobbling about all over the place, and Said very quickly went off injured. The "Wolves Way" generally means he'll now be out for at least three months!

Hopefully, next week will see some movement with deadwood leaving and fresh faces coming in.

It does seem like Groundhog Day, I must admit, but the WC and hols thereafter may be holding things up, and if we're going to import from abroad, the readiness and integration for a serious challenge in the Championship is going to be difficult, to say the least.


Dunno what players with that experience will be on the 'available' list here, but optimism reigns.
If everything turns t*ts up, Shi II will have confirmed he can't be believed or trusted, and Fosun, never, ever, again.

I know owners can't buy players, Banksy, but if Fosun aren't helping then nothing has changed, so your last paragraph is probably accurate.
If it means that player sales have to be completed first, why was the club saying they wanted their transfer business concluded early if they knew that couldn't happen, especially if they were planning to change the Coach?

Now Wolves have departed with most of their top earners & cut the wage bill down. They are not going to buy anybody for extortionate wages.
If they can pay pennies they will. This is why I say give the younger ones a chance, bring them in gradually.


At least give them a chance.
There's no guarantee by spending millions we are going up to Premiership 1st attempt. Look at last season.
Wish the Wolves best of luck in new season.

Moby, I half agree with you, but in reality we don't bring many exceptional players through our youth system, apart from a couple of obvious ones. I am not a happy clapper or moaner, as some people put it, for having an opinion, but I would have thought at least 5 gettable players would be being spoken to by now. All I see is "we're looking at" or "interested." If there is any meaningful attack on the Championship this season to go back up, then transfers would be 75% sorted by now, or at least moving on them.

If this is the squad that we're gonna be relying on, then I can see us way behind West Ham, Burnley, Boro, Norwich, & even possibly that lot from North Bham. Pull ya finger out, Wolves, for God's sake.

Yes, we don't expect any miracles. We have given up on those. I am not saying throw all the young ones in at once, but gradually. I ran youth football teams myself, & even the useless ones.
Given encouragement & hope, they achieved confidence & turned out decent players with the right coaching.

Sadly, there will be a dozen or so clubs ahead of Wolves for a player of that calibre. He played over 40 games for AC Milan last year! (Unless, of course, he has fallen off a cliff since last year).
But, if he is half as good as he was, and was obtainable on a free or close to, of course you would sign him and pay £85k a week.


Over a three-year contract, if he is on a free, then it is less than £4m more than Wolves are paying for the totally unproven Rafiki.
However, as I said, I suspect there will be lots of interest in him, and he will go for a not insignificant sum, and thus not to Wolves.

I know we played crap football last season. But by having a team with older players & experience, yes.
But what happens when these older players have had it?
Perhaps play some of the younger ones.
Stay in Championship a couple of seasons.


Build a team from younger players who can play together.
Then keep adding younger players.
This is how Wolves did it years ago.
What's happening at our academy?
Saves paying millions for crap.

I know I've probably got post World Cup blues after watching England commit their usual screw up plus all the other well publicised goings on there, but after watching Wolverhampton Wanderers play a friendly against Maidenhead, is my 60 plus year connection/obsession with the club finally starting to diminish?
I know some will tell me it was a longstanding promise to them, just a friendly, or an opportunity for CP to check out a few youngsters. Whoever was on the pitch, it was a 1-0 victory over a National League South side. Is this really our starting point?
Frankly, we looked distinctly average throughout and apart from a couple of decent moves, certainly didn't dominate the game, pitch or no pitch.

Maybe I'm just concerned that the progressive dumbing down of the club by the owners over the last few years is showing no signs of abating if this is the best we can achieve, even at this stage of the season? 
Sorry to sound negative. No, deflated would be a more accurate description as, so far, I can see nothing to get excited about. I remember us playing Leicester in a friendly the season after they won the title, we won that 1-0 and genuinely felt greater things were ahead and so it transpired, now it's just the opposite feeling. Thanks Fosun.

It's the Racing Santander when Wolves can truly be judged. Possibly the Port Vale game due to players returning late from the World Cup, and (hopefully) new signings coming in.

When Wolves beat Leicester 1-0, that was the final pre season game.

That was Wolves treating that game as a proper match.

I saw a few things that concerned me yesterday, but I'm hoping that by the Blackburn game, Wolves will be in much better shape.

Comparing our 1-0 victory away to non-league Maidenhead with West Ham's 5-0 win at (League One) Stevenage is a depressing comparison even for a friendly. Well, it's at least an improvement on last year's start.

To be honest, I think there was a lot of trial and error testing going on last night, finding the moves and positioning.
The boring back and forth at the start seemed purely to get touches on the ball. Trips was directing a lot, and on one occasion must have busted his gut down the wing, only for, Rodrigo, I think, to play it inside. Trips gave him some words of wisdom after.


I'm not reading too much into that game, a lot of youngsters finding their way, and not representative of the full first XI that'll be.
Wrexham beat Man U 1-0 at Manchester, do we read into that that the Reds will have no chance this year?
It's game by game, different personnel coming in, and CP moulding them into a unit.

Never read too much into a friendly. Especially the first one. Too many changes and experiments, of which not all will pay off. Players not wanting to risk injury, so being more cautious. Players being rusty after a break, and needing minutes back in their legs, and building fitness and match sharpness.

I don't think anything can be judged fairly until at least 5 games into the season.

If something is wrong by then, it's too late. But new manager, relegation hangover, needing to move players on. It's not an easy situation, and this season won't be great. I don't think the club have ever been relegated from the top flight and bounced straight back the following season. This year is unlikely to be any different, but it won't be because we only won 1-0 in a friendly.

I understand all the points made, but why would you play a friendly against a non-league side when surely you need sterner tests even if it is the first one of four. That would not have happened 7 years ago, when the Club still had ambition, but I'll keep my powder dry until we've played all of them or even the first 2/3 in the league.

Long, I think you have a case of post-World Cup blues about the overall state that football is in, as demonstrated by the antics of Argentina, the disruption to the flow by appalling waste of time on so-called entertainment, all to satisfy the money lust of the mob at UEFA.

I sympathise, and so would many others. However, don't let this colour your long support of Wolves. One friendly is not an indication of what is to come. We are all nervous knowing Fosun as we do, but keep the faith, and hope like hell!

Long, we were playing the friendly against Maidenhead, as it was something contractual connected to buying Max Kilman from them. Considering that we stropped up West Ham for 40 mil approx in getting rid of him, we did very well. Maidenhead got a sell-on percentage.

I think Maidenhead wavered something to enable the transfer for us, and we pledged to give them this game. It must have been a big event for them, and brought in a few quid in bar/food program and turnstile, given we took over 1000 fans, plus I dare say they got a cut of TV monies. They made about £4million out of the Kilman deal, apparently.

Maidenhead got short-changed to a certain extent, as they contracted to play the then Premier League Wolves team. Cunha and co have left. It's almost like switch-selling!

Watched the game last night.

* Kieren Tripper was superb. He’s captain and that’s it. Wolves don’t need six captains.
* Tom Edozie played well.
* Tawanda Chirewa played well.
* Mateus Mane will be a key player for Wolves in the Championship.
* Hugo Bueno looked good but he didn’t see much of the ball.
* Nasser Djiga and Yerson Mosquera looked decent and Mosquera was comfortable in the LCB position.
* A couple of other young players looked pretty good.

The pitch looked okay but was awful.

* A non-league player sent Jackson Tchatchoua to a different postcode.


* Toti Gomes looked bloody awful. Championship teams will have him for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
* Wolves desperately need a new goalkeeper.
* Marshall Munetsi looked average at best. He’ll offer very little in the Championship.
* Tommy Doyle is a back-up player. Not enough quality to start games if Wolves want promotion.
* Wolves can’t rely on Raul Jimenez to score the goals. Leon Chiwome had chances, which bodes well.

Wolves looked better than they did during last year's pre-season under Vitor Pereira.

Just wanted to add Sutherland's left footed balls to the box, a sweet foot, and a good back up for Hugo/Wolfe or whoever.

Yes, Ethan Sutherland looked good. Shifted between raw and very classy.

Possible that if Wolves sell one of Wolfe or Bueno, Sutherland might be back up.

However, I hope Wolves don't become too dependent on kids under the guise of giving youth a chance when the reality is Fosun don't want to invest.

Watching yesterday, Tchatchoua and Toti Gomes have nothing to offer.

Neither looked interested imo Hyacinth, and you're right, we can't rely on youngsters. Ok to fill in now and then, but they'd not be up to a full Championship season yet.
