Lots of people blaming Sa and Jackson for the own goal. Sa was positioned to receive the ball to sweep. Jackson didn’t look where he was passing the ball. He had 3 opportunities to deal with it before he ‘scored’.

Who passes back to the keeper at head height to the side of him? Unbelievable. Hope Tripps is back after the international break. James has to start. But we need to be better all over the pitch.

Sheffield, I am questioning the manager here. He's stuck by Jackson & let's be honest, he's awful. Mane needs sitting down & a good talking to. Munetsi has to be on the bench, & Armstrong needs to be benched. Raul is no good to us without wingers, & our boss reckons we don't need them.

I sincerely hope the piss we took out of the undateables down the road doesn't come back to haunt us, but I got a horrible feeling it will. Play Mane. Play James. Play Lima instead of Jackson until Trippier is back.

I can't disagree with anything you've said there, Lex. People on here saying Raul is off the pace. As the song goes, give him the ball and he will score. Service is everything for a number 9. I don't think Haaland would score in our team, as there's no service. Front 3, Mane, Raul & R Gomes should be hunting in a pack, with Fer pulling the strings, backed up by JJ. A front 5 that should be devastating to defenses.

imo the team should look like this:

Sa
Trips (captain once fit, until then maybe Konan can't be worse. KC - yes I know he's left footed?)
Djiga
Krejci (captain until Trips is back)
H Bueno
James
Andre
Lopez
Mane (drilled about teamwork)
R Gomes
Raul

That should be a team that can destroy anyone in the Championship.

Toti and JC should have gone to Saudi - too late now! Nowhere near good enough.
Both are disasters with a football.

It's still early days, and CP is still new to the team and league. Get behind the boys, and it will come good. Now Krejci is back and RB gets sorted, the defense will settle.

Sheff Utd next... I'm looking fwd to that one being 'a local'!

In CP we trust. Come on me babbies!

Own goal was just down to awful judgement from Tchatchoua. The guy is a liability, both in defence and going forward.
Sa, I thought, had a good game under the Brun second-half pressure.
Krejci is clearly too good for this side.
The big issue is the defence. 10 goals conceded already!
Time for the manager to step up and sort things out.

How in God's name did Jackson get to be a pro footballer. Christ's sake. 🤛 😫

We'll be okay when Trippier returns.

I highly agree. Best Rb in the champ.

Well Armstrong thinks he's playing rugby; how did he miss & what an own goal.
Well I am flabbergasted.
When we coach players we told them them ball is always played forward, not back & not across pitch in front of your own goal.

Always play forward. What's up with these players.
On this performance, I am dreading the Baggies match.
I know it's early days but unless we improve things quickly.
Middle table finish.

Not sure what coaching badges you have done, but we definitely do not coach players to always play forward. We also do not say never play back or across goal - it's not the 1980s!
Coaching and football have moved on, Moby, and football is played in all directions in order to move the opposition around and find spaces and passing lines!
However, today we had a player who knocked a bouncing ball back towards goal at chest height to a goalkeeper who had come off his line and didn't call.

Also, I'm not understanding why Sa did not just knock the ball away and give away an indirect free kick. Two very poor players!

When passing back, always to the side of the net in case something goes wrong.

443 may not be a bad shout at least for some games. Andre, James and either Munetsi or Traore. Front 3 of Lopez, Raul and Mane or Gomes.
Still think swapping James for Munetsi would be beneficial, however with calamity defending will struggle to win enough games.

Away games against tougher teams start with 433, as others have said to have more control, easy enough to change if required.
Wonder what CP had to say at HT to Sa and Jackson.

06 Sep 2026 17:55:20
443, you playing with no goalie as doubt we'd get away with 12 players on pitch. 🤣

06 Sep 2026 17:57:51
To Jackson, your shite should be dropped next match. To Sa, either improve with your ability to talk to defenders, because at the moment it doesn't look like it, or you're dropped. Simple as, no drama. Nowt. Sa goes in a huff, sell Jan window.

Well spotted Flea, worth a try. 👍

Is it, or is our middle just Andre and box to bix muensti or James? We won't win games with 1 midfielder... Andre will just get run ragged. Must be three, with Andre as DM and two runners.

I know u sacrifice aw wide player, but Fer as a 10 and Raul Mane or Rogdigo or even Armstrong, we would have more control in games and still runners.

I think Wolves' issues are mostly in defence, but also in attack. Jimenez doesn't suit Peixoto's system. Armstrong definitely doesn't.

I think Jimenez was brought in to placate the fanbase, but also to play next to Armstrong in Edwards's system.

I think Mane, Gomes and Lopez are almost playing around Jimenez.

Regarding the defence, it's amazing that Krejci comes in to replace the disaster that is Toti, and now everyone can see the disaster that is Tchatchoua.

Two of the worst defenders I've ever seen in a Wolves shirt.

Sadly Wolves are in for a tough season, and Fosun are 100% to blame. Lose Lopez to injury and Wolves won't win a single game.

They have zero chance of finishing above West Ham and Boro. Zero.

To be honest, I think Swansea are better than Wolves. I've seen them play a couple of times and they're impressive.

06 Sep 2026 17:42:19
The attack is not the problem. 13 goals in 5 games would back this claim up. It is the defence which is 100% the issue. Toti and Jackson just ain't good enough. Usually, the weak link is Toti, but today, Jackson imploded and cost us dear.

06 Sep 2026 18:10:16
I get what you're saying with the number of goals, but I think there is an issue forward of midfield.

Wolves don't have a 20-goal-a-season forward.

I've also said in another post, I feel that the midfielders are playing around Jimenez.

With Mane, Lopez and Gomes on the pitch, Jimenez will barely touch the ball.

In Peixoto's current system, Jimenez's cover is an untried kid from Newcastle, and Armstrong, who isn't very good.

Lopez gets injured and Wolves will struggle. Almost all of the attacking play goes through him.

At the start I was happy to see Krejci return in place of Toti. Thought first half we were ok going forward and Blues scored a good goal. Then the own goal, shambles from both Sa and Jackson in my opinion.
After that, think out attackers sort of thought what is the point. We score but with our defence and errors like that, we need to score 3 each and every game, have to feel sorry for Lopez and R. Gomes. In saying this, I thought we were playing with 10 as didn’t see Armstrong.

I thought Sa may get his head down now but not confident with his display today. Small Blues player in front of him and Sa is diving all over the shop.
Munetsi same as ever, running about with no impact.
Positive start to season over now. James has to start for Munetsi next game and Mane back although didn’t think he did a lot when he was introduced.
Some saying top 8, can’t see it myself, hope CP can work some magic. 🤞

Banksy why play Armstrong at all offers nothing.I agree James should star but i've said before play james with Andre and Munetsi. It would give Wolves more control of midfield which in my opinion Wolves are lacking.

Play either Rodrigo or Mane on the wing and Jimenez up top. James can swit ch to the wing or Lima if when CP decides to drop the DICK Jackson.

Siad 5 a bit harsh, considering injuries, first game. Also, Raul 8 might be heart rulling head, bro.

06 Sep 2026 16:33:07
I would rather play Sean Neave ahead of Armstrong. Could not be any worse.

Simon and Laura said it's because the club is paying about 5 mil too much.

Fine margins again.

Wolves could have gone 2-0 in front. Stansfield scores from a handball. Game goes 2-2 because of a diabolical own goal. Both sides had penalty shouts. At the end of the game, against the run of play, Wolves should have scored to make it 3-2, but Armstrong fluffed his lines.

In reality, several of Wolves' players were the worst performers on the pitch. Sa, one moment aside, was terrible. So was Tchatchoua and Armstrong. Munetsi and Armstrong should have been hooked at half time.

I can understand starting Armstrong against Blues, especially with his goal scoring record against them, but he was dreadful. He cannot start another game. He offered nothing down the left hand side and in no sane world can he ever be picked ahead of Rodrigo Gomes.

06 Sep 2026 15:33:20
Tchatchoua, apart from the 2nd half against Arsenal last season, has done nothing. He is poor defensively, and does nothing going forward. Lima is unproven, but must surely be given a chance next week and until Trippier is back.

What position does Armstrong play? He was anonymous on the right side during the 1st half, and then useless when moved into the middle.

I don't know much about Neave, who is on loan, but surely he must be given a chance up front once Jimenez comes off.

1

06 Sep 2026 18:04:17
Our penalty shout was a blatant holding on, then a shove. Theirs, Andre played the ball and caught the player slightly in doing so, and the attacker went down. Their bar hit was a deflection off Tchatchoua that was going in, whereas ours was a free kick that had the keeper beaten, so despite Armstrong's horrendous miss, we were still unlucky not to win.

Yet again, though, the forum is full of all the negatives to back up a narrative that we have no chance of top 8, let alone automatic.

06 Sep 2026 14:24:29
I'm sorry to say with that side and the way they play no chance of top 2. Nothing has changed; still backwards and sideways by the defence and Sa. Birmingham we're by far the better side, especially in the second half. No service to Jimenez; just the same. I thought CP said they know what to do. Well, from what I was whatching, I don't think they had a clue.

As for Jackson, he is useless. Why did they not get rid of? Surely Lima has to start. What happened to fast free flowing football? What happened to the high press? CP needs to change things, and fast, because Wolves will be lucky if there in the top 8 never mind top 2.

Rodrigo scores and Wolves go 2-0. Stansfield scores from a blatant handball, and after a lovely Krejci header, Sa and Tchatchoua combine to score a laughable own goal.

Blues were dominant in the second half, but Wolves should have won it.

Takes from the game:

- Jackson Tchatchoua is hopeless.
- Armstrong will never fit into Peixoto's system. He can't be picked in front of better players.

Unless he's playing off a front man on the right of a front three, he's hopeless. He's also just not very good.
- Sa is a maniac.
- Peixoto made an error and made changes at the wrong time. Jordan James has to start.
- That game showed how important Mane is to the team. He constantly occupies the opposition. He can't be dropped again.

06 Sep 2026 15:02:17
Calamity, you must have watched a different goal to me, because Stansfield did not handle the ball. It was a good goal, so let's just give the player credit where it's due. The OG, however, was a complete joke, so Jackson deserves all the criticism he gets. His crossing was poor, and he nearly cost us a point by committing a needless foul in stoppage time.

5

{Ed001's Note - he controls it with his Arm.

06 Sep 2026 15:16:10
Stansfield used his chest and then his left arm to bring the ball down to his feet. VAR would have chalked it off. VAR would most likely have given both teams a penalty.

Nevertheless, Wolves can't get promoted with the side as it is. They desperately need Trippier back with Mosquera and Lima as his cover.

Jordan James has to replace Munetsi. Armstrong can't be starting games.

On a positive, Krejci is in a different league to Toti.

We all just have to pray that key players are back and fully fit as soon as possible.

5

06 Sep 2026 15:18:54
It is clear that he used his arm to control the ball. Clear handball. You can see it from the replays.

06 Sep 2026 15:20:46
1st goal against, handled or not, really poor tracking back... and own goal; sums up the player. Nowhere near good enough anyway.
Manager has now a crisis in his defence. 10 goals conceded already... not promotion standards.
Now we will see if he is any good.

2

06 Sep 2026 15:24:54
You're right, Calamity. Despite the collective poor performance at the back, Krejci is a class above. It suggests to me he will be gone in January.

3

06 Sep 2026 16:23:32
Jackson and Armstrong must surely be dropped, forever, as far as I'm concerned.
Lopez is by far our best player up to now.
James will be superb, given time.
Mane, I'm not sure about.
Neave looks promising.
Next two games must be wins.

06 Sep 2026 16:43:09
Take Mane out and you can see how effective he is. He causes so many problems for the opposition. Possibly Rafiki Said can play on the left to give Mane a rest, but Armstrong can't play on the left - or any other position. He offers almost nothing. He's also too easily knocked off the ball.

A fair few Wolves fans were slating Armstrong last season, saying he's nowhere near good enough and he'll be just as ineffective in the Championship. They were all spot on.

He was bought for Rob Edwards - a man who couldn't spot a good player at a Ballon d'Or award ceremony.

Well said, Ed.

06 Sep 2026 14:20:26
Well we got dominated by Blues second half then Armstrong who is poor in my opinion should of won it... I want fer in the attack 10 not getting on the ball so deep... We dont look like scoreing after first 30mins... glad we put Kretij back in defence...

Raul aint going ro get 20 goals a season unfortunately... Jackson well poor performance and tht own goal iv got no words sa should be screaming clear it though... We didnt look like a top championship side at all work to do on training ground definitely.
