Pope is a very average GK on a very large wage which is why I suspect Newc haven't been able to shift him this window. Seems like Cesar prefers a four man defence but getting Krejci back in there would certainly help. 👍

Konan, from what I have seen on videos as a good left foot. Attacking player, bulky fella, good build. Looks OK

Thanks for the hard work Future. I agree that Munetsi did ok and got in some important blocks as well as his well taken goal. Championship is seemingly his level. Not sure how you can give 7's to James and Andre. The former wasn't really on long enough, and it was definitely an own goal to my eyes, whilst Andre was reckless in giving away the penalty. He's generally neat and tidy, but needs to become more expansive.
Hopefully, Raul is just getting over the World Cup blues. Mane had Walker Peters on toast for much of the game before fading, and although his decision making is questionable at times, it was great to see him beating men through trickery, as he's not blessed with lots of pace. Defence is definitely the main issue currently, and we're in for a rocky ride without those issues being resolved.

I agree with your ratings, Future. I remember thinking Andre was a class above everyone else and unfortunate to give the pen away. His break up play was excellent for most of the game. I also think James did well and looks like he can be a real asset. Doyle ran his socks off, but that was about it. Can't fault his effort.

Goatmark: I agree Andre was a bit unfortunate with the penalty on two counts. For one thing, it looked to me as if the actual contact was made just outside the box, and the WH attacker fell just inside as a bit of an afterthought. For another, there were two other Wolves defenders on hand who bought the dummy and ran past the scorer, each presumably leaving the tackle to the other.
Having said that, it wasn't a great challenge by Andre who, for all his work rate, is prone to giving away pointless free kicks and losing possession in dangerous areas by dwelling too long on the ball. Still a definite starter for me but at some point I'd like to see James drafted in somehow as a starting midfield player. He always looks as if he has a goal in him.

Ghislain Konan signed. Not currently match fit as he hasn't trained with a team this summer but will be given minutes to build up his match fitness. I don't know too much about him but he knows CP well.

Ah, seen it now, 30yr old has quite a lot of experience in Portugal, played for CP before, and is internationally capped.
Maybe a surprise, but offers us the LB cover we'll no doubt need at some point.

Bare facts are us fans have been let down and Fosun need to hear this. 6-7 months to prepare transfers, which they said they were sorting and had money to spend. Where is it? Awful transfer window. The silence from Matt and Shi is so disrespectful to us paying fans. It was those guys who promised the earth.
That defence was Sunday league standard and it has been for months. Crying out for a Costa or Cav on the wing, a decent centre forward to help. Is the problem Matt and Shi or is CP to blame too? Even Arteta doesn’t tell his board, don’t spend because I don’t need to strengthen, I’ll use what I have.

Lose Sunday, & the fans will start to turn, which, unfortunately for CP & the team, will have a negative impact. If we're not careful, it'll be another manager sacked by Xmas, players wanting to leave & unrest in the dressing
room, which obviously affects the on field performance. You do have to feel sorry for any manager appointed by Fosun.

Ruddy - free as above but v experienced. Don't expect either to have been bought with the intention of playing.
Said - £7m V strange signing for what in Wolves terms is a large fee. No pedigree, not HG nor particularly young. Presumably the manager's pick?
Neave loan no option. - v odd signing. Unless he is far better than his progress to date indicates unlikely to play despite screaming need for a cf back up to Raul
Konan - free. I know nothing about him and his career to date offers little to indicate that he is likely to be a first choice at this level.

Gomes J - £35m Wolves best player last year. In a summer of insanely high fees Wolves manage to sell for an insanely low fee!
Hoever - £1m A good sale bringing to an end a disastrous Wolves career.
Moller Wolfe - loan with option. This is merely a financial move to try and minimise costs. Wolfe will be still be a drain on Wolves finances this year!
Sasa - free - As above a poor deal that provides minimal financial relief.
Doherty - free. As above
Bentley - free As above
Tolu - loan with option See Moller Wolfe

From a football perspective the transfer window minimally at most improves the first 11 and markedly weakens the squad. However the emergence of Djiga, the re emergence of Munetsi and the revelation of Lopez means the side is clearly stronger than last year and the squad is probably no weaker as the players who left were largely modest squad players.
Financially
In reality the window was sadly always going to be driven by finances - boring I know but that is reality.
The comments by the club about its intentions were always nonsense or as many are saying just brazen lies to get people to buy season tickets.
Wolves are now bound by SCR and everyone - in the game - knows that this is a serious constraint for Wolves. Wolves are also truly abysmal at transfers - regularly over paying both on fees and wages and incredibly underselling in many cases!
The window was therefore all about trying to shore up the mess that Wolves finances are in!
Sadly the window, due to the 2 problems - the market knows Wolves are in trouble and secondly Wolves are quite capable of being hopeless all by themselves without other clubs pressurising them! - was from a financial perspective pretty unsuccessful.
Sales raised far less than would have been hoped for/expected and in the end Wolves were effectively forced to give away players on frees/loans to get whatever relief from wages/amort they could.
Overall the transfer window was very poor but not as bad as some of the previous ones.
The club did not do anything particularly stupid like massively overpaying for poor players or apart from J Gomes selling players at pennies in the pound.
But it totally failed in its two aims - shoring up the finances and restructuring and improving the squad.
A badly missed opportunity, especially poor as the club had months and months to prepare as it knew it was going to be playing Champ football this season from virtually the first few weeks of the last season.

Some interesting points, Future, and I'm in general agreement, apart from your view on Gomes. In my opinion, both 'our' Brazilians have been overhyped, possibly because of the Brazilian tag, whereas they are both similar players and have limited abilities. They can both break up play and get a tackle in, but their passing prowess is suspect and non-progressive; neither offers a goal threat, and whilst Gomes is a slightly more progressive runner, he does go up blind alleys and get caught in possession.
His debut for Villa against Brighton was much worse than Andre's performance against West Ham, which verged on dire, and it'll be interesting to see how his career develops and whether that £35m really was too low.

Gomes apart, there are not many of the players who have left that you could make a full argument for wanting to keep based on ability and attitude.
