Hold on to your hats, folks, the storm has only just begun.
11 Jun 2026 15:00:17
Should have sacked Edwards after the Burnley game. No counter argument can be made. Guy has been treated appallingly. Fosun - and Mendes - are utter snakes.
11 Jun 2026 11:33:05
The World Cup starts. This is supposed to be the pinnacle of national football competition, where the best teams in the World gather to find the very best. Tomorrow we have Canada v Bosnia, how are they amongst the very best? Just more TV rights in those countries.
It is a joke. As was having last World Cup in the Middle East....Where is their great football history? I wonder if it is about money? đ€
11 Jun 2026 14:23:09
Well, obviously, it wouldn't be much of a tournament with 4 countries.
Canada is rated 30th. How many teams are in the tournament?
11 Jun 2026 14:24:04
Why are there so many players in Wimbledon. Shouldn't F1 only have 4 cars?
11 Jun 2026 11:28:47
Well not surprised Re sacked.
Well now new manager's got time to get to know players.
Nathan Shi not messing about.
Complete clear out.
That's what it needed. Let's hope.
Everything works out.
Up the wolves.
11 Jun 2026 13:38:20
All you guys who are sure Andre will be around next season, let this be a wakeup call.
11 Jun 2026 14:17:11
There is absolutely no way Andre will be leaving this transfer window, because it would make absolutely no sense for him to have signed a new contract. Edwards was sacked because he was performing below the required standard. It's that simple, to be honest. The two things are entirely unrelated.
11 Jun 2026 14:24:26
Andre signing and photos published, Rob was nowhere to be seen. Trippier medical and signing, Rob was not in the building. Raul medical and signing were done in Mexico without Rob. Pattern emerging, anyone?
11 Jun 2026 14:47:26
If the new coach is a Mendes client, then this may indicate that he is back to dominating the direction and player personnel on the team.
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.
11 Jun 2026 16:57:41
Players sign a new contract so that the selling club can get more money, if a big club comes in and offers them a contract.
This happens all of the time. He got a raise, and if he goes to Spain, Wolves will get double the money.
I hope this makes sense to you.
11 Jun 2026 17:39:56
Haha, OK Handsome, you honestly think after the season we've just had, Matt Jackson would make a large public statement about keeping Andre just to cash in on him when he could have done so without the new contract and no one would have even questioned it? Why would he? So no, that doesn't make sense to me, because it's simply not logical! Don't believe me, then maybe try reading Matt's own words on it:
"Andre has always made it clear he wants to be a part of the club's future and that says everything about his character, and his connection to Wolves and our supporters.
Technical director Matt Jackson added: "We're delighted to have Andre as an integral part of our quest to get back into the Premier League as quickly as possible. It's brilliant that he's bought into the project, it's a brilliant commitment from him, and it shows the intentions around the quality of player that we want to have at the football club.
"He went on record early saying that he had that commitment to stay, and he's a man of his word. It's good timing for him, because he can go into a summer relaxed about his future, and from the club's perspective, to have a player of top quality committing to us in this way is fantastic for everybody.
"From day one of pre-season, we want to have the intention going through the club that we are really serious about this. We want to be the very best that we can be."
Now, I suspect that he has a non-promotion release fee, but that's entirely fair and understandable. I hope this makes sense to you?
11 Jun 2026 11:22:24
What has happened to my club? The way they have handled the manager situation is despicable. Edwards played a big role in Andre Trippier and Jimenez signings. If this is the way we treat people at the club, we deserve everything we get in the future.
11 Jun 2026 12:13:18
I agree, typical Fosun. I do feel for Edwards, he has been treated terribly.
11 Jun 2026 14:26:26
I agree that it's poor form, doing it over the phone when it should have been done the day after the season ended.
However, we as fans have absolutely not a clue what has or has not been said to players and why they have chosen to be at the club. It's entirely possible that all those players mentioned above were told this would happen before signing contracts. The players talked up Edwards because that's what you do when you sign for a new club. They are all paid professionals and this is not a first rodeo for any of them, so I can't imagine this being any kind of issue at all.
Yes, it might seem harsh with the way things have played out, but elite sports is harsh and Edwards knows that.
I do think people need to pick a lane here. When Fosun were sleeping at the wheel, we were all regularly on here crying foul and lamenting them for not caring. Whether you agree with the decision or not (only time will decide if it's the right one), not a single one of us can say that Nathan is not wide awake and trying to genuinely change the trajectory of this club now. This decision has cost the club a chunk of change and will not be a decision taken lightly. Like Nathan has said, making hard decisions is his job, and he's absolutely right. So let's give the new manager a chance before judging said hard decision.
11 Jun 2026 17:18:52
I see it's reported that the players aren't very happy learning he's gone.
Dunno if they're missing him, nice guy, his style of football, or the way he's been treated.
Maybe some false promises have emerged.
Who knows. I just hope we can come together as the pack again, and start enjoying games again.
11 Jun 2026 11:06:46
Re has been sacked. Itâs a bit of a shock to be hy. I thought he would have been given the opportunity to prove himself in the Championship.
Anyway looks like this lad from Portugal is going to get the job.
11 Jun 2026 11:06:11
I don't agree with how the club went about sacking Edwards, not telling him until he contacted them about the rumours.
11 Jun 2026 13:45:51
It is poorly rated, if true, but the change was needed.
11 Jun 2026 10:51:52
Trippier is worth more than the whole Gil Vicente squad which indicates that our new coach was working with a sub average squad but achieved a reasonable position.
I'm hoping he can continue to up his game with a squad which will be far more capable.
Just praying that he has the presence and personality to manage high profile players and get the best out of them.
Will be interesting times ahead.
11 Jun 2026 10:18:43
A bit of non Wolves news, it appears that Burnley have successfully sued Everton for ÂŁ40M following their relegation when Everton had breached FFP by ÂŁ19.5M and were deducted points for it.
The courts must have found a sporting advantage had been gained so I wonder if City will a) Ever get sanctioned b) Get pursued by others in a similar way if they do.
Has that opened a massive can of worms?
11 Jun 2026 11:25:32
Longmynd, I do hope so. đ
11 Jun 2026 10:18:21
Four clubs in two years. Four clubs where he hasnât achieved a win ratio over 30%. Three clubs he couldnât get above a 29% win ratio. Two clubs he couldnât get above a 25% win ratio. Peixotoâs poor win ratios come in a poor league. Edwardsâs recent atrocious stats come in the PL with a dog**** squad.
Cesar Peixoto is 46 years of age; Rob will be 44 this year. Both have had a lot of managerial appointments in a short managerial career.
I saw the Edwards being sacked rumour very early on, but dismissed it when I saw who the potential replacement was.
People can say âWell, we never heard of Nunoâ. Thereâs a huge difference between the unknown Nuno and the unknown Peixoto.
Either this new guy is going to be Ibiza Final Boss or Walter Zenga 2.0. Hopefully Mendes knows something everyone else doesnât.
11 Jun 2026 11:30:30
Sorry, Ice, but where are you getting those numbers from, mate, because, having just glanced over his last job, they seem entirely wrong?
Last season he managed to win 13/34, giving him a win ratio of 38% (which incidentally is about the same as Nuno in the Prem). Over the course of his career he's averaged approx 35%, so I'm just unsure where those numbers you've got have come from.
Also, worth noting that if win ratios are the metric here, then that doesn't look good for Edwards. So, whilst Peixoto managed a 38% win ratio last year, Edwards managed 11%. đ±
11 Jun 2026 11:34:36
As much as I wanted RE gone at the end of the season, this development now feels like it'll disrupt our prep for the Championship.
I was beginning to feel a little hopeful.
Now, an unknown taking charge for an inexperienced season in England, let alone the Championship, concerns me.
He's to win over and get to know existing players, recruit and integrate new ones.
Study what's needed, style-wise, and put it all together to succeed on the pitch.
I dearly hope I'm wrong, of course, but I think the 10-game start may be all he'll get.
Fair dos tho, he'll be given the chance and my support.
11 Jun 2026 11:44:06
On those numbers, Bully's, you might say Peixoto is less bad than Edwards, but I think Edwards should only have been replaced by a proven good manager. Peixoto doesn't do it for me. Let's hope I'm proved to be wrong.
11 Jun 2026 11:53:28
I get what you're saying, Innocent, but do 'proven good managers' take jobs at recently relegated clubs? I think the reality is for the position we find ourselves in this is in fact a relatively ambitious hire.
Now, I'm not saying it'll work, only time will decide that. But, clearly, Nathan had decided that Rob was not working, and I can't say that I disagreed with him on that front. Let's hope Peixoto has a dream! đș đ
11 Jun 2026 12:05:48
I have to concur with Bully's statements. Also, the issue of prep for the Championship is a non-starter; simply because most staff and players are still off for the summer. Hopefully Cesar comes in and pre-season starts with his staff and players.
11 Jun 2026 12:56:36
That's one of my concerns, Pikey. What players will Peixoto attract or bring? With Trip and Raul, I was hoping RE was carrying some influence on homegrown lads who know the Championship.
Lads from Portugal may take time to adjust if that should happen. Sadly, he seems an unknown for others to commit to. Really hope it works out. Just find it hard to get excited about.
11 Jun 2026 13:30:38
Uncle Jorge will supply the players and Cesar will be tasked with fitting them in (just like Nuno had to). They have gone back to their model of all those years ago. The talk of players coming because of the manager is just because they're never going to play if they don't say otherwise; Trippier is here because his kids live minutes away and Raul is here because Nathan got in there early and sold the "project" to him.
All we can hope for, as fans, is that Jorge gets us a few players who turn out to be as good as Jota, Neves or Neto.
11 Jun 2026 09:54:43
Onwards and upwards without Edwards.
11 Jun 2026 12:21:53
It's a pity you maybe shoot from the hip a bit on the facts, Ice.
And it's worth trying a bit of optimism amongst reality sometimes. We all live the Wolves dream. đđ
11 Jun 2026 09:52:44
Does this merely emphasise the integrity of Nathan Shi?
11 Jun 2026 10:13:43
Emphasises summat Oxley, but I dunno what? Guess only time will tell.
Did Raul, Andre and Trip expect this on signing?
All very strange in the reports.
Can we trust Nathan?
11 Jun 2026 10:26:55
I can't imagine Trippia and Andre being too happy about losing the manager, who they seemed to like when they signed. Uncle Jorge will have his fingers in the till again, selling players on his books. Wolves will have players who are inexperienced in the Championship. It all seems like deja vu.
11 Jun 2026 11:29:01
BBC reported it earlier this morning, about three hours ago, and nearly 1,000 posts in HYS. The club website is still composing the report, it seems, even though it must have been an open secret for at least a week. It is a deserved sacking, but the timing suggests a very recent change of heart.
Sympathy for Rob and his family. Maybe Leicester will come calling. Best of luck to him in the future. At least the 'Boro fixtures will not be as highly charged as feared now.
11 Jun 2026 11:37:38
Sadly, I believe Rob Edwards made an emotional decision coming to Wolves, one he found really difficult to turn down. The rational one would have been to continue with Boro, get promotion, and have a second go at the Prem with a team he knew. The Wolves job was sheer poison. I wish him well.
11 Jun 2026 11:41:15
Andre's reaction will probably give a good insight into this, by which I mean will he be here on kickoff day.
