Wolves were quite impressive at times last night. Some nice stuff against Doncaster. Tommy Doyle played well, as did Tom Edozie. Edozie is going to be a very good player.

Jackson Tchatchoua and Toti Gomes were poor. Boubacar Traore wasn't much better.

Nevertheless, Wolves definitely need a goalkeeper and a midfielder who'll get goals and assists. Lack of goals could be a real problem for Wolves.

It's worth noting that Krejci played against Doncaster. Hopefully he'll be staying at Wolves. It's becoming abundantly clear that Wolves will try and move on Jose Sa, Santi Bueno, Hee-chan Hwang, Sasa Kalajdzic and Moller Wolfe. If non of these players are seen on Saturday, they'll be gone by the end of August.

Edioze will be a better player if he stops looking to draw fouls. This seems to be one of CP's influences. Doyle did a spectacular dive in the first half from an almost standing start. I personally don't like this in the game. You should be 'awarded' a free kick, not go out looking to feign (win) one.

Lopez and Rodrigo were the standouts tonight, and Doyle and Armstrong were linking well in the 1st.


Could moan about plenty and worry for the season, but again, it was a friendly.
We'd better have some idea sorted come Sat tea time, or we could get embarrassed by a better team than Donny Rovers.

From what I've heard Wolves want 8 to 10 mill, nobody will pay and Whang wants to leave, but the idiots in control won't budge. Just another case of Nathan Shi in charge, but Fuson pulling the strings. They will wait till the window is near shut and get less money because they haven't got a clue.

DMac, unfortunately it seems pretty much the same as last year, don’t get me wrong, Raul and Trippier are great additions.
I was hoping Shi 2 would be an upgrade on 1. If they are serious on achieving promotion at the first attempt, in my opinion, we need some quality additions. Have we sold Tolu now? If so, together with the money from Joao, surely they can sign 2 or 3 decent players.


Maybe after last year's mainly awful signings they are now not prepared to spend. Doesn’t say much for the recruitment people.
The way things are going they will make signings towards the end of the window. I just hope if they do, they are good signings and can be ready straight away. Frustrating that they do not seem to learn from previous mistakes.

Even though Shi #2 did say they'd learnt from previous mistakes in the transfer window & would get the new signings in early so they could integrate fully with the team & manager to 'hit the ground running' when the season starts.
So either that's it, Raul, Trippier & Said, or they haven't learnt a damn thing.

Can anybody on here explain Wolves transfer policy if they have one. So far Wolves have bought in Jiminez, Trippier, and Raffiki Said who is now injured. They sold Gomes plus let Tolu got to Ajax on loan, so Wolves have same squad as last season. Bar the 2 in 2 out plus the loanees coming back. Doyle couldn't even get into an average Birm City side last season. Munetsi, who apart from running a lot is useless, and Traore, who is injury prone.

So where is the midfield apart from Andre, Wolves don't have one imo. Can Jiminez, Sasa and Armstrong play 46 games plus FA cup and Carabou cup. And that's not including the defence which was shocking unless Wolves sign at least 4 or 5 more players. No chance of promotion. And need to get rid of 7,8.or 9 players who are just not good enough but can't see that happening.

I agree with you, DMac. I tried to put a side together of who we have available at the moment, and midfield is Andre and Doyle, with R. Gomes and Mane as wingers. Armstrong supporting Raul.

Then I realised it's not the best. Doyle and Armstrong are both 3ft tall or short, so I'm not confident with that line up. New CM required urgently along with more attacking options.

I think Wolves' transfer policy - without being sarcastic - is to buy/own decent players and sell for a profit, but then lose that profit by buying trash. The club's policy is to then get stuck with the trash, meaning they can't sign decent players.

Their scouting mostly involves searching and finding brilliant players, but then refusing to pay the asking price, and losing those players to other teams, who invariably reap the rewards. Or they can't sign the quality players they've scouted because the squad is overloaded with trash.

One player who instantly comes to mind is Alex Scott.

Wolves were in prime position to sign him, but Lopetegui didn't want him. Lops then left the f****** club. Bournemouth will most likely make about £75 million on him. The list goes on. Even before Fosun.

Wolves wouldn't pay the asking price for Jamie Vardy, so Leicester signed him.

Wolves could have signed Harry Maguire, but wouldn't cough up the right amount, so Hull City signed him for the sake of about £1 million.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but when it comes to player trading, Wolves seemingly prefer to buy high and sell low.

Someone mentioned Anderson last week, when Newcastle United wanted one of ours, plus a fee, only a couple of years back.

We had a chance of Enzo Fernandez, not that we need the likes of him and his Argentinian antics.

Mendes doesn't seem to be serving his co-owners any favourable talent. I still believe he does us more damage than good.

Not looking too rosy at present, but there's still time for things to improve, but the longer it goes on, the likelihood of panic buys becomes a big worry.

Sadly Adama Traore is a busted flush. Going from being called 'unplayable' by Klopp, to leaving us for a failed stint at Barca, then coming back, then couldn't wait to leave us again, then failing at Fulham and West Ham.

He turned out to be one of our most overrated players during Nuno's tenure at Wolves. His football brain didn't match his sheer physical qualities. Still, I'll always remember those two goals away at Citeh.

As Deep states, Klopp once stated you needed a motorbike to stop Traore. Wolves could have got £30 million for him, but ended up with sfa. Cest la vie. Jeff was too busy trawling Wolverhampton for the next Donna Summer.



There was a time when Traore produced some incredible moments, but I wouldn't want him back at Wolves now. His wages and contract would be too much. He'll probably go to Saudi or Qatar. Good luck to him.

If only - the opening line to every moan I know - Wolves had sold Traore instead of Jota.
The fee would have been far, far higher and, maybe, as he was a wide man, they wouldn't have felt compelled to waste a vast chunk of it on Fabio (or, of course, Hoever!).
How different would things have been!

As things stand at the moment, how do people see us lining up at the start of the season? Haven’t seen us linked with any GK so presumably they are keeping links quiet or we are keeping what we have.
I will go with:
Sa, Bueno, Krejci, Mosquera, Trippier, Andre, Doyle, Mane, Armstrong, R.

Gomes, Raul.
Not sure how B. Traore has been doing. Would still prefer more signings, particularly a new CM, another 2 wingers and a striker, unlikely I realise.

As generations pass I'm beginning to wonder how many of us remember Molineux when it was a proper football stadium? That would be pre 1979, when you could talk to players who were taking throw ins. Nearly fifty years on we can hardly see 'em. It's quite often mentioned West Ham's London stadium isn't a football stadium fit for purpose but Molineux really isn't much better. I find it sad really that younger fans who only attend home games many will have never been to a proper football ground where fans create an intimidating atmosphere and the home team make it a fortress.

Years are passing, costs of any redevelopment are spiralling, fans have become conditioned to be thankful for whatever owners of the day offer up and any thoughts of ever having a team and stadium to be prowd of aren't a million miles away, they're non existant....... Rant over.

You have to be well over 55 years old to remember watching Wolves play in a proper, fit-for-purpose stadium. We always thought it was only temporary. How is it other clubs can build new stadiums, or redevelop what they have, while Wolverhampton have been making excuses since the 1950s? Football is booming everywhere up and down the country (even in Wales), while we watch on from the outside, doing nothing and going nowhere.

You are correct, Kocowa are - details are of course private.
I am, however, still very sceptical that it amounts to anything like the £3.5m + Hwang earns, but - and once again I agree with you - I would hope that this is nice to have, not the main reason for his selection.
If he wasn't good enough - and there are lots of views on that - he should not be picked for the commercial revenues he generates, as just a point or two could well be worth far, far more and playing a weaker player than you need to may easily cost a player or two.


In the champ, however, he may well be a viable option. He is, after all, an experienced international footballer with some, albeit some time ago and not many at that, excellent spells of form for the club.
If, however, it is true that he could have been sold for £20m in the last couple of years, not selling - for either football or the very weak commercial reasons - was insane!

Flea, I would assume his wages would drop, but of course it is all private info - even the assumption of his original wage!
But the whole point is that, almost no matter what, he is bringing in from commercial activities, unless it is multi millions, perhaps £10m+ more than his salary, it surely is madness to pick him unless he justifies his place on football grounds.


Since he can't be bringing in anything like that, it is obviously for football reasons he has been picked, not commercial.
In the Champ, however, that may make sense. Sadly, over the last couple of years it has been less clear why he was picked in the Prem.
