Worst case scenario for the Blackburn game:
GK: Dan Bentley
RB: Kieren Trippier
RCB: Santiago Bueno/Nasser Djiga
LCB: Toti Gomes
LB: David Moller Wolfe/Hugo Bueno
DM: Andre
CM: Tommy Doyle
RW: Rodrigo Gomes/Hee-chan Hwang
AM: Fer Lopez/Mateus Mane
LW: Rafiki Said
CF: Raul Jimenez
——
Possible substitutes:
GK:? or Dan Bentley
RB: Pedro Lima
RCB: Yerson Mosquera/Nasser Djiga/Santi Bueno
LCB:? or Toti Gomes
LB: Hugo Bueno/David Moller Wolfe
DM: Boubacar Traore
CM:? or Tommy Doyle
RW: Hee-chan Hwang/Rodrigo Gomes
AM: Fer Lopez/Mateus Mane
LW: Hee-chan Hwang
CF:? or Adam Armstrong or Hee-chan Hwang
—-
RCB is a difficult position to fill because Santi Bueno doesn't have much pace, and pace will be needed in that position. Mosquera is a quick player, but he's a lunatic. That means Nasser Djiga.
LB surely must be Moller Wolfe if he stays and Peixoto uses a back four. This position is interesting. If Peixoto is switching between two or three formations, surely there is space for both Wolfe and H Bueno. H Bueno won't struggle with defending in the Championship.
AM position should be either Lopez and Mane. Surely Wolves will only sign for that position if Fer Lopez leaves?
RW/LW/CF back up positions show how important Hee-chan Hwang is.
—-
A new GK will relegate Bentley to the position of back up goalkeeper.
A new LCB will give Toti Gomes competition and take a few games off him.
A new CM will either give Doyle competition or push him into a back up role.
Boubacar Traore will likely be Andre's back up.
Rodrigo Gomes can play LW and RW and I think Mane can cover both positions. Hee-chan Hwang can certainly fill both positions. I'm sure Armstrong can play as part of a forward three behind a CF.
If Peixoto switches to a 4-4-2 then the only difference will be a CM or AM will be dropped for a CF. Adam Armstrong or Hee-chan Hwang will play the CF role alongside Raul. Armstrong will play a lot of games as Peixoto switches between 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-2.
Adam Armstrong's back up should be Hwang, though that isn't a major talking point due to Peixoto's preference for 4-2-3-1. Hwang will get games due to his ability to play in multiple positions.
I've seen it written that Wolves might still utilise five at the back
—-
I'm assuming Sa, Johnstone, Tchatchoua, Krejci, Munsetsi, Tolu and Sasa Kalajdzic will leave. It would be nice for Sasa to stay at the club, but Wolves seem to be looking for a young CF to play as Raul's back up. It also looks as though Sasa doesn't want to stay.
Things don't look too bad regarding the Wolves team going forward. I might have missed one or two players.
Does all this mean that Wolves only need a new GK, LCB, CM, CF?
Shoot me down in flames if I've made any mistakes or contradicted myself.

I personally feel Fosun will spend.
Hoping to get us back in Premiership.
Then sell.
Because then they will get a better price.
There's no commitment at all & I can see why fans aren't happy.
14 Jul 2026 18:13:42
Personally, Moby, if Fosun do as you say, spend, get us promoted and then sell us, I will be very happy. And I won't be the only one!
14 Jul 2026 12:28:17
Wolves really need to get this goalkeeper situation sorted out. I have liked Sa. He has been an incredible shot stopper at times, but he has been linked to exits for so long. It seems his head goes sometimes, and Johnson is fragile.
Bentley wasn't up to it when he was in goal. We need someone youngish and keen as soon as possible. I heard several people talk about who they would like but habe we actually been linked to anyone recently?
14 Jul 2026 14:36:12
Zetterstrom, Rushworth, Victor Johanson, Patterson, and some fans claim Radek Vitek.
14 Jul 2026 18:00:05
Patterson is going to Wrexham.
14 Jul 2026 19:20:12
Rushworth is in advanced talks to go back to Coventry. It may have been finalised now.
Can't remember the name, but we're supposedly very keen on a young Swedish goalie playing in the Swedish league.
Also, people knock Bentley, but he has a good record at Championship level, so I wouldn't mind him mentoring a young keeper and sharing first team appearances with them.

Hi all
Realistic outgoings (some by choice) some unavoidable - Sa, Mosquera, Hugo Bueno, Jackson, J Gomes, Tolu, Munetsi, Kreji.
Those who would want to move on but no deals done - Jackson, Hoever, Djiga, Bentley, JRB (he would want to leave), Hwang, Chirewa.
Youth that could play a genuine part this year - Edozie, Lima, Enzo Gonzalez, Fer Lopez.
Starting 11 come season.
New Gk (like Paterson from Sunderland or Freddie Woodman, Liverpool).
Trippier, Santi, Toti Moller Wolfe.
Andre Doyle.
R Gomes Armstrong Mane.
Raul.
Bentley.
Lima.
Djiga / New CB.
Denis Cirkin LB (free released sunderland).
Edozie.
Sasa.
Enzo Gonzalez.
Rafiki Said.
Fer Lopez (if stays).
14 Jul 2026 11:06:00
Said on the bench, we just brought him in, I doubt we will have an 8 mil sub bro.
14 Jul 2026 11:41:40
Got to bed new players in, or fans will kill them... Different with seasoned pros, but young talent from the Belgium league, we can't expect to come in and adjust to English football
Let him impact off bench, V tired defenders and less pressure on him.
14 Jul 2026 12:03:25
He's got the full pre season to bed in. Last year was different, as the players came in so late in the window.
14 Jul 2026 12:32:16
I think we should keep Hugo Bueno and sell Moller Wolfe. Hugo is homegrown and Moller Wolfe had a good World Cup. We could get better money for him.
14 Jul 2026 12:42:01
Chewy, far from unrealistic but very concerning.
Sell most of the talent in the squad and only buy a new gk to go with the 2 excellent signings made previously.
That side would be a lower mid table side at best.
Defence is very poor, and although Raul is a class act, not sure the attack will be good enough to cover the inadequacies elsewhere in the side.
The bench is awful!
Surely the club will be more ambitious than this, and Trippier and Raul may feel a little let down if this is the case.
However, to be fair, they can't be unless they can shift the deadwood, and it appears that this is not, (unsurprisingly), proving simple.
Choices are a fire sale of the deadwood or, as you suggest, sell the better players.
Either way it is a disaster for the club.
Tks, Jeff.
14 Jul 2026 14:44:33
I am not saying that's what I want. Just realistic, as I would love us to keep Kreji, Hugo, Mosq, J Gomes etc.
But, got to think sensibly here. They will push for moves, and bang on we will be left with players who we can't move on / who want to go but people won't pay £££ for, so either write off and ship on cheap or block new arrivals.
We brought in experience, and need to blend that with youth / players who have experience getting out the league (already missed out on a few shrewd signings like that).
There is a huge difference between the Prem and Championship, and players like Toti etc are more than good enough for that level (albeit not the marquee signings some Wolves fans would think we are going to get). These dependable players, who care, will form part of our spine next year (Doyle, Toti, Armstrong, Santi).
14 Jul 2026 16:35:01
Chewy, a good, sensible, well-balanced post, which I agree with most of.
However, Santi - far too slow and far too weak - will be a disaster, and Toti (sadly, I do not agree with you re Toti) is just not very good.
As a pair, they will be torn to shreds, and, with potentially Bentley in goal, that side will ship goals for fun.
The bench is also truly awful, and a couple of injuries will leave the team very exposed.
14 Jul 2026 18:32:59
Frank Munro was never the quickest, but he and John Mcall formed a good understanding. As do Santi and Krecji when they play together. Like the way you're managing the team, as well as the finances. tfig, we will soon be the best run club in the country!
14 Jul 2026 19:31:24
Santi was one of the few who did well last year. And so is likely to go, but if you seriously think he’s not good enough for the Championship, I hate to think how much money you’d waste on unnecessary signings.
Tony Adams never had pace but did ok at a much higher level, as did John Terry and many others.
Central defending is more about the first few yards, which is more instinct and nous than pace, so as long as you have one quick CH, you can have a good slow one who can read the game and be in the right place, rather than needing to recover from bad positioning.
14 Jul 2026 21:17:50
Flea, it is all a matter of opinion.
Bobby Moore had no pace either, and he and the other 2 you mention are among the best CBs in England in my lifetime.
However, your 2 were incredibly strong, and as you say, all three read the game incredibly well.
However, Santi is slower than all 3 of them, is not strong, in fact is weak, and although, as I have said many times before, is actually a perfectly reasonable footballer otherwise, he is no Bobby Moore.
Consequently, for me, Santi, who until his emergence last year was buried deep on the Wolves bench/reserves, is not suitable for the very physical Championship.
Ps, the view that he did well last year needs to be put into the context of a defence that conceded 68 goals last season.
Pps, if you read my previous posts I have detailed how much I would spend to create a side that would compete, and he is actually one of the few that I would replace. As I said, a matter of opinions.
13 Jul 2026 23:22:33
I took a long hiatus from posting due to the poor season and just didn't have much opinion I felt to share on the team/club.
I'm in the minority, but I would have maybe tried to keep Tolu and let Raul mentor him. They are both physical players and I think Tolu would have been a compliment when Raul needed rest. I understand the reason to move Tolu on with the dressing room dust-up, and he seems to not want to fight to stay anyway.
I'm happy for the Raul & Trippier additions, but would be shocked if we get any other high profile players. We just don't have or seem to want to spend the funds to do so. We desperately need a #10 to control the attack and feed Raul the ball, or he won't help us much either.
14 Jul 2026 10:14:17
If we can't sell Tolu for decent money, I hope the new head coach can persuade him to rehabilitate himself fully into the squad. With his physicality, Tolu could be a force in the Championship, and be worth a lot more in a year's time.
14 Jul 2026 13:13:40
Tolu is a complete waste of time. For a big guy, he gets knocked off the ball too easily. He can't win a header or hold the ball up, and as for his shooting, the less said the better.
Get rid!
13 Jul 2026 00:22:28
Seems the moaners are out early, never ceases to amaze me, we're mid table team already! Give them a chance, I've finally got a season ticket this year and am looking forward to seeing some good matches, just let the team give it a go and back them, COYW.
13 Jul 2026 09:59:12
Everyone backs the team, Wolfcall, and want them to do well, but quite legitimately, some criticise the owners for their policies and mismanagement that have impacted so badly on the club over the last 7 years or so.
If those policies are maintained, with the club still starved of any real ambition from Fosun, why would anyone find that acceptable or them immune from criticism?
Labelling people as 'moaners' because they want the best for their club is what I don't understand.
13 Jul 2026 10:08:49
Agreed, Long. Let's see where we are in the next few weeks.
If Fosun have demonstrated a positive approach to sorting the squad out, any negativity would be inappropriate. If they haven't, then.......
13 Jul 2026 20:30:58
Well said, Long and Rugeley. Me personally, Fosun have had enough chances to right the wrongs.
13 Jul 2026 00:16:55
Baffles me how bad our owners are and they don't realise it. We got promoted a year before the vile. They are now Champions League again and signing Manzambi who has been brilliant in the World Cup. We are getting relegated and signing a Comoros winger who was ok in the Belgian league. Will they ever admit they are business men and not football?
13 Jul 2026 20:33:49
Mark, what Fosun have done is nothing short of criminal neglect, and to allow Vile to overtake us to the extent they have amounts to a dereliction of duty and promise.
12 Jul 2026 11:28:33
Looks like Fosun are putting together a 'one season' team, more of a team to stay in the Championship while they decide what to do with the Club rather than a team to take the League by storm.
12 Jul 2026 12:48:34
Yeah. I mean, Trippier and Raul are your typical lower-league strugglers, ain't they, who are signed by teams fighting relegation year after year.
12 Jul 2026 13:33:30
Typical Ron Moore attitude, always looking on the bright side. Don't know why they call themselves Wolves supporters with that attitude.
12 Jul 2026 15:33:31
Always the positive, aren't you, Ron, mate.
12 Jul 2026 16:57:56
I don’t think Fosun need to buy players to keep Wolves in the Chump while they organise a sale of the club.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to move unhappy/hopeless players out, get players in, get Wolves back into the PL, and then sell the club with it in a better financial/sellable position?
On a happier note, it made me laugh seeing Ki-Jana Hoever back for pre-season training.
Didn’t Wolves sign him when HMS Bounty was setting off to Tahiti? Hoever easily ranks as one of the worst signings Wolves have ever made.
12 Jul 2026 01:57:46
