Reports saying Wolves are after Che Adams. Don't understand this. Yes, he's good in the Championship. But if Wolves get promoted he's not PL quality, same as Armstrong, and both will be 30 or more. Then Wolves have Jiminez and he's 35. Surely Wolves should be looking for someone younger.

We've got to get promoted in the first place, the club will have plans in place for that eventuality, I guess, and the players concerned will be made aware of them before signing.

I see both sides of the argument, to be honest. I understand the point that you have to get promoted first, and players like Che Adams and Armstrong will certainly help do that. However, I also agree with Dmac, in so much as we absolutely know that both of those strikers are not even close to the standard needed to play in the Prem.
Personally, I'd sooner we spend the money on someone like Ballard from Leyton Orient.

Ballard is just 21 years old, scored 23 goals last season, and has played for England at every youth level. A player like that might still be able to find another level in the Prem, and the problem with players like Adams and Armstrong is, what's the end game once we are back up?

BullysBoy 11, that is the problem. If Wolves get promoted, who is going to score the goals? M Hatt, saying the players will have been informed of what might happen.

Are you going to sign a 3 year deal to be told, if Wolves get promoted, we will sell you? I don't think that happens. No matter who you are, Wolves will have a problem if promoted.

Remember Leo Bonatini? He was good enough to help us get promoted and almost broke a club record doing so. My point being, if they help Wolves get promoted, they're good enough.

F Jack, he then got sold, didn't score in PL. This is my point.

At this moment in time, the squad - assuming the club does lose its better players (J Gomes, Krejci and maybe Bueno H) - should not give you any worries about "what if they go up" because, as constituted, it is far more likely to go down!
It's not who will score the goals in the Prem, but who will score/stop them in the Champ.
Signing young prospects is obviously important for the long term future of the club, but it is optimistic to expect the current squad, supplemented only by Trippier, Raul and a number of young players - British or overseas - with minimal experience at this level, to carry the club to safety, let alone promotion.
Whilst I completely understand your point about filling the squad with old boys/not good enough for Prem players, adding a further smattering such as Nick Pope, Tyrone Mings/Adam Webster and a couple of others, including maybe Che Adams or Ross Barkley, should, relatively cheaply (in transfer fees if not wages), take away that downside, at least for a year or so, allowing the club to see which of the younger players signed alongside them are up to the job.
The squad has been hopelessly unbalanced for a while now, which partially explains why it is where it is, and failing to address that would be an error.

PS. On a totally different subject, I read recently on this very site an extremely long post that detailed, although not very accurately, the transfer activity of the club in the Prem. What it failed to say, presumably because it didn't fit with their very odd agenda, was that it reflected one of, if not the lowest, net spends in the Prem over that period.
It also claimed that it was directly correlated to/impacted upon FFP/PSR.
Sadly, this merely shows how important financial literacy is.
One, net transfer spend, is a cashflow item, and the other is a measure/test of P and L levels. The link between the two, in the short term particularly, is modest.
You can be cash flow negative but highly profitable in a period, and of course vice versa.
If you are writing or reading an article/post that discusses Wolves financial performance, it would probably be better if you asked someone who can read accounts to look at it before drawing/posting too many conclusions.

DMAC123, I think we're making the same point, but looking at it through different lenses.

I don't want to be a pedant, Ford, (cue being a pendant:), but what records did Bonatini get close to breaking? Genuine question here, cause the only thing I can think of is the only player to score all of his goals before Xmas?!. ?

Think we just need to take one step at a time. Let's not count our chickens too early.
The Championship is a different beast to the Prem. Where we were used to Premiership professionalism, respect and sportsmanship we will now be faced with Mad Max and the Thunder Dome! ??? FWAW.

I don't want to be a pedant, Wolf, but how did Costa, Cav, Douglas, Goldy, Mac, etc cope in the Prem... oh wait, we got rid of them. What about Dicko or Afobe? We replaced them. Douglas is the prime example. We got Vinagre and him. He did bits and we sold him. When we got to the Prem, we brought in new players such as Raul, Mout and co. You do know that, right? Like, how we also got Castro?

But yeah, why aren't we signing Mbappe and Arda Guler? Same old Wolves showing no ambition...

I see Real Madrid, PSG and Man City are moving with transfers for big names... After all, we are the best team in the world and not a team that finished bottom of the Prem. Haha.

We need to buy players with Championship experience. After a season with a lack of that, you'd think you guys would want something different.

I hope Nathan learns quickly that you can't satisfy our fanbase, because a section of our fans will never ever be happy, and will always look for something to moan about.
