According to his autobiography Ramsay played "a couple of non-league matches as a trialist for Rangers."
He has since admitted that the exact ins-and-outs of his time at Rangers are "hazy" and according to a Rangers spokesperson he was given a trial during a testimonial match and trained with them for a few months.

@ Deep Throat and Jas M - The News Of The World debunked Gordon Ramsay's claims about being a Rangers player. HE wasn't released by the club, he had trials for two weeks. This is the only time I can praise NOTW.
It all came about when Ramsay claimed on a TV program that was "released as a 17-year-old and was crushed, that is how I ended up becoming a chef" (I remember watching it) it even had Rangers legend Ally McCoist recalling GR as a young player. Hilarious, egg on both their faces.

Deep Throat - I think this boils down to the ruthless "win at all costs mentality" it is drilled into athletes through all disciplines at an early age.
Look at some of the best forwards, they were very crafty. Bergkamp, Shearer, Henry or more recetnly Jota. They didn't cheat but knew /know how to draw a foul and stick in some strong challenges of their own.

I read that in summer 2024 Newcastle wanted Max Kilman and were offering Elliot Anderson, plus cash! (Jeff, did you swerve?) Ok, Anderson wasn't the £115mil player that he is today, but I wish we had gone for it.

Che Adams could do a job in the Championship for us. Not good enough for the Premier League now. In fact, the same applies to Trippier, Raul, and Armstrong, if truth be told. They can all help us get promotion, but beyond that, we need other players able to make the transition.

I read that Tim Spiers wrote in The Athletic a couple of days ago that Wolves are not a serious football club. This story was reprinted in the New York Times. Tim goes on to say that if Rob's results last season were 'slightly better' and his relations with fans were also 'slightly better' he probably wouldn't be in this position! (Only slightly better Tim? ) Tim goes on to say it would have been more palatable if Kieron McKenna of Ipswich had been lined up as Rob's successor! Dream on Tim! Furthermore Tim says that we had the worst season in our 149 year history.
Does he not know our real history? I'm sure that Kieron McKenna is gutted that he didn't get a phone call from Nathan! The Athletic article is surprisingly nothing but a hit job.

Of course the World Cup is relevant to us for signing players! Given that we may not sign any World Cup players, transfers have a ripple effect. World Cup players signed by bigger teams than us may encourage those teams to offload other players! And I'm not ruling out us finding a hidden gem at the World Cup either.
