Wolves are apparently set to sign Standard Liege winger Rafiki Said for around €10m.

Rated RKO

1.) 10 Jul 2026 03:11:28
Stunning. Absolutely stunning. Finally making more moves.

2.) 10 Jul 2026 11:07:37
Said is apparently having a medical today. Looks promising. If no problems, will fly out with the team to start pre-season in Portugal.

3.) 10 Jul 2026 11:21:39
Don't know anything about him. Is he any good? Can he make the move from Belgium football to the Championship? We all thought Tolu was going to be a decent player after a good season in Belgium, but he wasn't.

Hopefully Rafiki will prove to be better suited to English football.

4.) 10 Jul 2026 13:28:06
Apparently Standard Liege can't believe their luck getting EUR10 m for a player rated EUR5 m at best. Said to be very inconsistent, hope he proves them wrong.

5.) 10 Jul 2026 14:04:12
Sadly, this is one that all we can do is take on board the comment so often made on this site - even in the face of overwhelming evidence that it is not deserved - "give him/Fosun/the club/etc etc a chance".
At 26, with no more than an adequate record in a very modest league, it is far from an exciting signing and, as many are saying, looks fully priced at best.

Surely there were far better value options out there, and certainly "safer" ones, but let's hope he outperforms what are pretty low expectations.

6.) 10 Jul 2026 14:58:49
If we haven't got players as good as him in the under 21s, why bother with an under 21 league? Reading about him, he seems very average. Got to be others in our lower divisions who can do the job without overpaying.

I know we are just a Championship side now, but surely we have to have some ambition. I fear a long, hard season is ahead.

7.) 10 Jul 2026 16:29:18
Last season, 8 goals and 4 assists, and he's got about a 1 in 4 career average, and he plays internationally for somewhere that I confess to never having heard of.

8.) 11 Jul 2026 06:44:51
Think of the new teams in World Cup.

9.) 11 Jul 2026 11:15:09
Fabio Silva looked better than he has playing anywhere (before or after) when he was at Anderlecht.

12 Jun 2026 23:09:32
Rodrigo Pinheiro is very close to signing for Wolves allegedly.

Rated RKO

1.) 13 Jun 2026 06:39:37
Who is he?

2.) 13 Jun 2026 08:09:28
Isn't he a right-back? The same as Trippier.

3.) 13 Jun 2026 14:46:43
Plays left back also.

11 Jun 2026 15:06:53
Rob Edwards was originally told that information about his future being in doubt on Wednesday was inaccurate.

Matt Jackson then informed Rob Edwards on Thursday morning that he was sacked.

It's said that Edwards' sudden departure has caused 'outrage' in the Wolves dressing room.

Rated RKO

1.) 11 Jun 2026 16:27:46
Sky reporting that RE is away abroad on holiday ATM.
This makes the methodology of sacking him even more deplorable, even though he wasn't the man to take us forward.

2.) 11 Jun 2026 17:18:37
When Fosun first took over and Kenny Hackett was given the 'ok', then 4 days later Jeff Shi sacked him because "not the person to take the club forward." Difference being that Kenny had been quite successful and for us had a win ratio of 46%. They were after Lopetegui at the time, but he took the Spain job and we ended up with Zenga, then Paul Lambert, before Nuno came along and made us into a good side. This new manager had a decent season, so I guess the idea of a "winning" manager appealed to our club management more. If I see the byline 'Crook' on a story, I tend to ignore it, especially regarding him 'knowing' what players are thinking or saying.

Most players are on holiday or at the World Cup, so at this moment there is no "dressing room" to be "outraged", but cheap news outlets use cheap 'reporters'.
The timing seems bad, I agree, but it does give the new guy time to put his own plan into action. Does anyone know about Rui Pedro Silva's situation? I would think he would stay, but who knows.
If there is a major fault here then to my mind it is with Fabrizio Romano for announcing stuff before RE had been told. He is rarely wrong, but I think he is the main reason this has gone poorly. That's just my opinion.

3.) 11 Jun 2026 17:49:26
Kenny Jackett was certainly No 'Hackett'.

4.) 11 Jun 2026 17:57:25
Reports suggest that the new coach was approached a month ago. Sounds like before the home match against Fulham. Did Raul know and approve when spoken to by Nathan? Maybe that made the difference. It annoys me when people say that Rob was recruited for the Championship.

He was actually recruited to keep us in the Premier League. 2/3 results aside, he failed miserably in that brief. Harsh to sack him now, maybe he should have been warned that his job wasn't safe. That's football, and he will get a handsome payoff for failure, happens all the time!

5.) 11 Jun 2026 20:41:06
Someone with sense. Well said, Deep Throat.

6.) 11 Jun 2026 22:35:56
Been a while, but today's news dragged me
Back in, it's all seems out of the blue at the moment, but I'd say this has been in pipeline for a few a bit, it's a huge gamble if not. I liked Rob, but footballs a results game, and in the 7 months I didn't see any improvement apart from the odd game, we had a side that should have been competing with the bottom 6 or 7 sides on paper, but we failed badly, no shape or structure as with VP at the start, a good tradesmen cant keep blaming his tools for a bad job, you have to take ownership, and at times Rob blamed the tools towards the end too often.

I likeable lad, who possibly could have done a job in the championship, but Fosun seem to have other ideas on how they want to move forward from here, the proof will
Be in the pudding, it's a big gamble either way.

10 Jun 2026 21:25:38
There was a unanimous decision between Rob Edwards and WWFC's hierarchy to make a move for Raul Jimenez, but it was Nathan Shi that led the charge in making it happen.

Not only did Shi ensure he spoke to Jimenez after the club’s final home game against Fulham, but he also spoke to the player's family to pitch the idea of an unlikely reunion.

Shi was instrumental in getting the deal done and both Edwards and Jimenez have credited him in club interviews for his work in making it a reality.

Deal now agreed for Wolves to sign Raul Jimenez on a free.

Rated RKO

1.) 09 Jun 2026 15:45:33
Just need to sort out the defence and GK. Things are starting to take shape.

2.) 09 Jun 2026 16:38:33
That's two very shrewd signings. Looks like we might be copying the Brighton model regarding the mix of different ages and levels of experience. Mane will learn a lot from Raul. Interesting times.

3.) 09 Jun 2026 16:55:38
His medical is already complete, and Jimenez will sign a two-year deal with the option of a third.

4.) 09 Jun 2026 18:22:27
Welcome home, Raul! It will be great to see you back as part of the pack. Si Senor. ???
Note of caution, we need pace and technical ability, with two cbs, a cm maybe two. And, two fast forwards that are exciting to watch.
My picks would be.
Alleyne-RCB-Man City
Arrey-Mbi-LCB-Braga
Devine-CM-Spurs
Huerta-FW-Anderlecht
Cleary-FW-Barnsley
Ballard-FW-Orient

A few extras. ?
Kante-CM-Middlesborough
McAtee-CAM-Forest
Wilson-FW-Free Agent.

5.) 09 Jun 2026 20:27:21
I'd go for Lascelles as CB, Brazkho in central midfield and Manhoef as a wide player.

6.) 09 Jun 2026 21:19:08
Lascelles is an interesting shout. To be honest, I went for a young CB with good technical ability and pace, able to play in a back 4. I don’t think any of the remaining CBs at the club can play in a back 4, so we might need two more. Webster at Brighton would be ideal, solid at Championship level, but very settled being a squad player at Brighton. Dunk would be a good option. But I have a feeling we should go for young CBs. Maybe Stones as back up? ? Also, do we give Okaduwa a chance from the academy? So we’d sign 3 cbs but bring one through.

I went for British players with this homegrown rule in the Championship. Apart from Kante, who Edwards managed at Middlesbrough, and Huerta, who plays with Raul for Mexico.

Alvarado from Guadalajara could be an option from the other wing. They are both quick, but also track back and help defensively.

Brazkho and Manhoef are solid options, just think the club will be far more selective of overseas players they choose.
With Raul, Andre, S Bueno (I think he may leave), R Gomes, Lima, Wolfe (not convinced he will stay), Sa (think he may stay), so we may have 4 spots out of a match day 18, as 7 have to be homegrown players.

Practically leaves 2 forwards, a midfielder and a cb.

Also, that’s with the thinking J Gomes, Jackson, Krejci, Mosquera, Toti, Hwang, Bellagarde, Munetsi, Djiga and Tolu are sold.

I agree, can see the list including Raul all stay, so there may be wiggle room.

7.) 10 Jun 2026 14:52:58
Heard Raul had his medical after the last game of the season. Sell Toti, Wang, as Gomes, Sa and Wolfe will go. Get two goal scorers and two proper defenders.

8.) 10 Jun 2026 18:07:11
Yeah, Phil, but what would your team look like?
Bentley
Trippier - New CB - New CB - Bueno
Andre - Doyle - Mane
New FW - Raul - New FW.

I think the squad needs a massive overhaul to play a back 4. None of our CBs have pace. Andre isn't the quickest either. Then we have no quality to link up with Raul apart from Trippier and Bueno.

I'd go for this 4-3-3.
Sa
Trippier - Alleyne - Arrey-Mbi - Bueno
Andre
Devine McAtee
Alvarado - Raul - Huerta

Bench: Bentley, R Gomes, Kante, Webster, Mane, Ballard, Cleary.

Maybe not go for the two Mexican wingers and play British youngsters Ballard and Cleary.

The big issue is having a lcb that can stay fit and play every week. Plus, do you get two for the squad? I'm not 100% confident on my defence as 46 games is a lot of games. Do you keep Mosquera and Toti as a larger squad, as you only need to name 7 homegrown players in every match day squad? I say Mosquera and Toti as their wages will probably be cheaper than other players.

Also, the actual transfer fees on that team would be relatively low within £60m, which would set us up nicely for the Prem.

Good job, potential signings probably don't read these forums, as why would they come when they've been written off before even kicking a ball?
Newsflash, we are not in the Premier League now so we are not going to attract top players.

Rated RKO

1.) 11 Jul 2026 09:03:25
We did attract top players last time we were in the Championship, and easily won the league.
Why can we not attract top players now?

2.) 11 Jul 2026 10:04:20
As Dmac123 commented earlier, WSD, if Fosun have not changed their self-sufficiency policy, we probably can't afford that class of player any more. That policy was not in place first time around, but if we do gain promotion it will likely be 'rinse and repeat,' as that approach has been the author of our demise, which many of us and football commentators predicted. I was prepared 'to give Fosun a chance' after the removal of Jeff Shi, but is it just going to be the same play but with different actors?

We hear new signings have 'bought into the project,' but what is that? It was the 10 years to greatness project that then became 20 years. Now it's the get promoted project, but what's after that, the bum around the bottom of the Premier League dodging relegation project?

It's also been mentioned that ground upgrades are back on the agenda, but again, if the costs are going to be dumped on the club then that will turn the financial screw even tighter.

Just a thought, would it be better to vacate the Molineux and offset the cost of a new stadium by selling the more valuable city centre site, a bit like what Shrewsbury Town did? I know that's not a popular approach, but is that restrictive site also constricting progress?

Like so many, I hope to be proven wrong, but whichever Shi we've got in charge, whichever players we buy, will it be 'groundhog day' on a continuous loop for this one reason? If so, we might as well forget a return to the glory days that were achieved before Fosun realised the true costs of maintaining that progress.

Before I get jumped on, it's not being negative to want the very best for your club, but I am frustrated that this approach is likely to continue. I once asked if Leopards change their spots, apparently they don't?

3.) 11 Jul 2026 10:08:18
When we won the Championship last time around, Fosun were still relatively unknown and their ambition seemed inspired. This time, any potential signing will have taken note of the last 5 years.

But, the likes of Raul and Trippier would not have signed if we were a club looking to stand still or move backwards, so hopefully the removal of Shi has freed the club from his shackles.

I'm going to ruffle some feathers here and one or two might consider calling the men in white coats for me but I think Hwang will do a ok job for us in the Championship.

Rated RKO

1.) 09 Jul 2026 16:57:10
Sorry, R KO, I suggest you stay out of the sun.

2.) 09 Jul 2026 17:09:53
I get where you're coming from, RKO, but Hwang is too often a passenger in games. Hwang has a good attitude, but as a player, he's a slightly better version of Tolu.

I've watched too many games where Hwang is playing and you forget he's on the pitch.

3.) 09 Jul 2026 17:23:53
It depends which Hwang we get. When he's confident he scores goals... Until he gets an injury. He could score 6 in 8 games, get a knock, and then do nothing for the other 38.

Tough to call, but I don't think you're definitely wrong there, Rated.

4.) 09 Jul 2026 17:45:05
You need to stay off the drugs Rated, the men in white coats are outside ?

5.) 09 Jul 2026 17:47:45
He has the potential to be decent at this level, but the fact that he's been as useful as a chocolate fireguard for the last 2 seasons cannot be overlooked.

6.) 09 Jul 2026 18:25:07
If the focus and desire is there, Rated, then you may well be right. I think there is ability there, and until pre season gets underway we won't know if our new manager can get anything out of him.

Hang on, there's a knock at the door.

7.) 09 Jul 2026 18:28:27
What will be, will be, with Hwang. If we can't sell him or give him away, let's give him a chance. The drop down a division might work out for him. He scored some good goals for us in the past.

8.) 09 Jul 2026 19:49:00
Acle summed it up perfectly for me, let's not forget here that a) Hwang has scored 10 Prem goals in a season, which is more than Armstrong has done, and b) his home nation calls him the Bull because of how hard he works! So Acle and Rated are absolutely bang on the money here.

Hwang could absolutely light the league up, or he could also spend the first half of the season being a passenger within the team. Personally I'd give him till Jan to see which version turns up this year. ?

9.) 09 Jul 2026 20:37:17
Excellent points made, Bully. I'm starting to warm to the idea of Hwang!

His ineffectiveness has not entirely been his fault. Wolves have stuck with a wretched five-at-the-back system for years, which possibly doesn't suit Hwang. Maybe Peixoto will get the best out of him.

One could look at Hwang as a Steve Bull-type of player who needs an Andy Mutch next to him. When he had Neto and Cunha alongside him, he was, albeit for a short while, very impressive.

Hwang does have a good attitude, and he does love Wolves. RKO could be right.

10.) 09 Jul 2026 22:53:22
Too early to start predicting line ups. Need a couple more weeks and to see how things pan out. Jake Gomes looks like he has no place to go at the moment and Leeds wanting Kryci is paper talk.

11.) 10 Jul 2026 08:00:59
Hwang is paid far too much to risk that he may gain some form. He has only had 1 good goalscoring season with us. He also goes down far too easily, which will get overlooked by refs in the Championship. We need to move on.

06 Jul 2026 15:25:29
Jiminez looks sharp and in the Championship those goals go in. Pickford had to be at his very best last night.
Si senior give the ball to Raul and he'll score.

Rated RKO

1.) 06 Jul 2026 15:49:04
His footballing brain is second to none. He was one of the best players on the pitch vs England.

Fosun better build a decent team around him because he's way too good for the Championship.

04 Jul 2026 02:51:20
Will never feel sorry for VP. He sabotaged us.

Rated RKO

1.) 04 Jul 2026 11:42:23
Correct. He's a secondhand car dealer. Give him a half decent team - Ait-Nouri, Agbadou, Semedo, Andre, Joao Gomes, JSL, Cunha - and a perfect set of fixtures and he can keep Wolves up. Remove that and he's exposed for what he is: a third-rate coach.

Wasn't VP shortening/cutting training sessions so he could bugger off to Portugal? Didn't Rob Edwards inherit a squad of players with atrocious fitness levels?

This is my major worry about Cesar Peixoto.

His family won't be leaving Portugal, so will the club have the same issues where he's trying to get him as often as possible?

I heard a rumour that Gary O'Neil was turning up to training late because he was with his family in London.

2.) 04 Jul 2026 13:21:06
If true, Zephyr, disgraceful and unprofessional for a Premier League club. Was there no oversight? Jeff must have been sleeping on the job. VP, in hindsight, looks a lightweight and unserious coach.

Maybe the Forest owner sussed him out? Would Rob have fared better if kept on? I don't know, but he certainly inherited a car crash of a squad. Maybe we need a Roy Keane type to come in and shake things up.

3.) 04 Jul 2026 13:30:40
Rumours are just that, rumours. Reminds me of the two old women talking over the fence: 'Did you hear about so and so?' And that old fella with 'em farted and said, 'You heard that, didn't you, but you didn't see it.'

18 Jun 2026 16:30:18
Kieran Trippier has re-iterated his commitment to Wolves, despite Rob Edwards' sacking.

The right back has exchanged messages already with new WWFC boss Cesar Peixoto with the head coach making it clear that Trippier is crucial for his plans.

4.) 18 Jun 2026 20:19:06
Football Insider print nothing but lies, but the worst has to be Hakimisports. Today they printed that Cesar Peixoto had ruthlessly axed 5 players from his squad and told them that they do not form part of his plans.

The 5 are: Jose Sa, Boubacar Traore, Sasa, Jonny Castro Otto and Pablo Sarabia. Even worse is the fact that some have commented and called Otto and Sarabia a disgrace. It seems anyone can write any old s*** and print it.
