Transfers: why haven't Wolves started buying? Not sure, maybe Wolves need to sell first. Which, to me, is a bit confusing. In Jan transfer window Wolves sold 3 players for 80mill. Agbadou, JLS and Arias.

They then spent 7mill on Armstrong, so that leaves 73mill, plus 49mill parachute payment this season. So maybe Cesar wants to have a look to see who wants to go and who wants to stay. I could be wrong. Any ideas.

Because there is a World Cup on. Unless we want to spend 130m on players like Anderson to Coty, not many others are buying yet. We have brought two great people in. Jackson was having talks with the new gaffer, and I'm sure we will start to see movement next week, hopefully.

We have seven weeks to build a team with a new head coach who has no Championship experience. Seven weeks. All of the season tickets are sold and now the club is reverting to type. Those expecting us to hit the ground running and to be challenging at the top end of the table may need to think again.

But WSD Fosun have agreed to help the Club any way they can. I know it's true because I read it in one of their press releases. ?
You're surely not suggesting that the usual encouraging pre season promises coming from the club are just designed to sell memberships and season tickets. ?
I know some seem to view ST sell outs as some kind of badge of honour, but just for context, West Ham have sold 35K and expect to sell 40K before the season starts.

Joking aside, I always thought I'd give it until the season starts before making any judgments on the 'we will get our transfer business done early' comments, but I thought they'd said they had numerous deals lined up.

There will either be a flurry of activity during a short period, starting July 1st, or it will be the usual Wolves s***show where everyone comes in too late or not at all. Depressingly, I fear it will be the latter.

Wait... So let me get this straight... You lot wanted Rob gone and expected transfers to still be done quick time? Are... are you lot being serious? So what... you don't want the manager to have any say over what players he wants? You also want them to try to talk to players whilst they are on holiday or at the World Cup?

7 weeks...

yes, we know. Pretty sure we got Neves in the second week of July. Jota was the last week of July.

Funny how 7 weeks wasn't a problem then...

DMac, I don't want to upset Blacksford, but it is not as simple as players bought and players sold.
If you sell your house, the first thing you have to do is pay off the mortgage.
Wolves have a £100m loan from a hedge fund that is secured on the parachute payment, so it is likely that either that or the transfer revenues received may have to be used to pay down the debt. No one is lending a Championship side £100m!
The second thing you have to do is pay your bills. If you are living well beyond your means, it is likely that a fair chunk of the house sale proceeds might be needed to pay ongoing bills - food, car, utilities etc etc.
Wolves have been living well beyond their means for years - lost £132m last year alone!
So you may find that, after paying all of this, you don't have enough left to buy the new house you want.

Indeed, you may have to wait until you receive funds from another source - for some the bank of Mum and Dad - (Fosun aren't likely to be as generous as your parents!) or the sale of other assets.
Sadly, the idea that Wolves, as a large, well supported, ex-Premier League side, will be a rich club in the Championship is a myth.
Wolves have major financial challenges, and reducing costs massively is essential if they are to pass the new SCR tests.
Hence my comments on how good the signings of Trippier and Raul are, and how further frees - especially of players that are far better than the players they replace - would be no bad thing!

A welcome bit of realism, Tfig. Many clubs will have similar issues, but we can't all sell first. With new financial rules, buying players gets a bigger challenge for most clubs other than the big boys.

Tfiog3, I understand that, but I don't know the ins and outs of Wolves finances, that's why I put on and that Cesar would want a chat. But, with taking so much money in, there must be some left for transfers, plus who Wolves sell.
