Linked with a loan move for Billy Gilmour until the end of the season.

Very talented young midfielder. Moutinho doesn't seem to have the same influence anymore maybe it's time to look to the future.

Wolves have focused heavily on academy players, surely there is the same or similar amongst the ranks? (nothing against Billy Gilmour) .

2.) 27 Jan 2021 10:24:39
See the point Deb. We've got Vitinha end of the day too.

Let some decent talent go tbf. Look at Pedro Goncalves looks a future world better now couldn't get a kick for us. We haven't got it perfect.

I like the look of Gilmour because he's very similar to Moutinho in style.

3.) 27 Jan 2021 11:31:10
and Owen looks ok as well.
Guess if we are looking to add another young midfield player it doesn't bode well for MGW or for that matter Vitor.
Gilmour has looked good on the few occasions I have seen him play (hasn't been injured for a long spell? ) but absolutely no point in taking him for rest of year unless there is an option to buy. All we would be doing is paying to rehabilitate/ develop their player whilst not developing our own.
If he signs can we send Vitor (is this really a good idea as he has shown shown glimpses in the few minutes he has so far been afforded? ) back or we will be paying 2 wages for at best 1 spot?

4.) 27 Jan 2021 20:09:52
Don't see this happening, although I would welcome it.

5.) 27 Jan 2021 21:53:05
If we could get it with optional fee then I'd take there hand off cause that kid is going to be class someday soon! Sadly for that very reason I suspect it would be without a fee agreed, at which point I'm not really sure why we should develop another clubs talent when we have our own sat on the bench? That's how I see it anyway 👍.

6.) 28 Jan 2021 08:56:17
Would I be alone in thinking we're missing the elusive goal-scoring midfield player? a Tomáš Souček type plyer, maybe not DMF but someone who is capable of getting goals.

7.) 28 Jan 2021 11:45:18
No you are not!
Indeed Soucek was someone I identified as an option several months ago!
I am not claiming to be a superb scout or with lots of knowledge of the foreign game - far from it - but he was on loan at WH last year, we all (including the club) had every chance to see him and he was better than excellent and available for £15m.
But as he was already at WH they were in the box seat and whilst we didn't they did take advantage of their eyes and signed him.
Did we try or were we looking at Vitor for £2om and thinking he was a better option?
Scary!

8.) 28 Jan 2021 14:14:43
I'd be looking at someone like Sander Berge from sheffield. Good all round footballer. Strong

Someone in the Soucek mould would be ideal though.

9.) 28 Jan 2021 14:21:35
This Alex Kral seems like the next big thing in that mould

Linked with him among others.

10.) 28 Jan 2021 19:53:59
I believe when WHU signed Soucek it was with a fee agreed so by the time he arrived in the Prem it was probs to late. No debating that he's been a superb signing mind. Whilst I agree it shows what can be done/ found it also has to be said that a DMF with his current level of goal threat are pretty rare, even rarer at the price paid. He's a good player but he's also in the best form of his career! Fair play to WHU and Moyes, he's done an incredible job there so far! I do agree that we need more midfield options, that still could be Vittinha. We all know how long it takes Nuno to integrate players but Vitor certianly shouldn't be written if just yet (for me) .

11.) 29 Jan 2021 08:26:01
The fringe players like Vitinha Otasowie Hoever Ait Nouri and even Fabio all need developing like Adama did some will work out others will be like Mir Jordao or the defender whose name I forget to.

12.) 29 Jan 2021 13:54:02
Viangre I think the defender is you can't remember.

13.) 29 Jan 2021 14:25:43
Cannot understand what's going on, and what the thinking is behind sighning of players we have, spent a lot of millions and gone backwards, hope we can stay safe, one positive comment the sighning of Jose looks a good move, players who score goals is what we are crying out for which we don't have enough of, we badly need a creative midfielder, wish we could get one on loan with option to buy till end of season, would be happy then with our new striker and players coming back from injury, need to get a good result saturday, getting to close for comfort for me, hope Nuno as given them lots of shooting practice at goal.

14.) 29 Jan 2021 16:23:58
I think Wolves dropped a proverbial regarding Ross Barkley. Fair dues to Villa for that acquisition.

15.) 29 Jan 2021 23:16:09
Debbie-I'm loath to say it but I think Sansom will be even better! We were tied with him last season and I hoped it was true cause that kid can pick a pass! Don't get me wrong I hope he's not up to the Prem etc but it sadly looks as though in the last 12 months them lot down the road have got there house in order with transfers. I'm still not sold on Watkins but Martinez and Traore were absolute steals at the prices paid! Just means we have to up our game as well is all, over to you Uncle Jorge! COYW 🐺.

16.) 01 Feb 2021 16:01:37
Doesn't matter what we need - Nuno doesn't know how to use them.
We have/ had Goncalves, Shabani, Gibbs-White, Jordao, Vitinha and none of them are good enough for Numbnuts.

22 Jan 2021 14:23:36
Fab romano has just tweeted here we go on the Willian Jose deal.

Option just shy of 18 mil I think this is going to be a very good move for us.

Similar to Raul but also different in a few ways. Seems to play the game at his own pace. Hold up and link up play looks top notch. Good physical presence too.

1.) 23 Jan 2021 10:41:56
Great to see the scumbag Aston forced to resign as chair of Wolves Parliament. Do not need 'pondlife' like that associated with our great club. FWAW!

2.) 23 Jan 2021 17:27:21
Preston, would appreciate more detail about Aston. I had no idea. Chair of Wolves Parliament should be beyond reproach.

3.) 23 Jan 2021 18:44:11
Sure DT, he was tweeting Trumpist conspiracy theories and compared Joe Biden to Hitler! FWAW.

4.) 23 Jan 2021 20:11:51
What a ****er!

5.) 23 Jan 2021 21:50:13
Who voted him in? Can't recall anyone asking me!

6.) 24 Jan 2021 17:07:20
Good old Glen. worked with him in the early nineties.

7.) 24 Jan 2021 17:20:18
How did someone with his racist views get anywhere near the post of Chair of Wolves Parliament? Embarrassing!

8.) 25 Jan 2021 11:34:43
Thanks Prestonwolf. I'm fully up to speed with QAnon conspiracies. They are simply unbelievable and actually satanic beliefs. They are also white supremacist and anti-semitic. The reason I know so much is that a few friends have been spouting QAnon rubbish. Like 'The Storm' was coming and Trump was going to arrest democrats and celebrities for abducting, abusing and killing children! To the very end on inauguration day last week they fully expected Trump to turn up with an army to arrest Biden and Harris etc. Instead Trump was flying off to Florida with his tail between his legs. QAnon is not dead, they will move on. They believe Angela Merkel is Hitler's grand-daughter.

08 Jan 2021 11:27:59
Spiers has said incoming players now not likely.

They had problems sorting a loan and there is a reluctance to spend big money needed to bring someone with Raul coming back.

Big Pat is the man for now.

TomsTatters

1.) 08 Jan 2021 15:09:43
That says to me that Raul will be back or is scheduled to return this season.

2.) 08 Jan 2021 15:44:59
The problem with loans in this window is that if the players any good then the selling club (usually) wants a mandatory purchase included. Something we have (in my opinion) rightly avoided for the most part. I suspect this is part of what the 'problems' are 🤔.

3.) 08 Jan 2021 16:48:12
Extremely unlikely I would think, Debbie, but time will tell.

4.) 08 Jan 2021 17:25:46
@ Old Wolf - respectfully I doubt Patrick Cutrone is the round peg for a round hole. He's a stopgap at best. Maybe PC complemented by a loan striker.

5.) 08 Jan 2021 17:26:55
The recall of MGW and Cutrone is sensible. MGW was a v highly talented 18 year old who simply has not trained on indeed has probably gone backwards. {sadly that is the case with most promising 18 year olds - as I said in another post look at the world cup winning side of 2017 of the 11 only Foden is now playing regular first team football in the Prem and they are all, like MGW, 20 and therefore should be not that far off from moving into their prime years.

However from the snippets I have seen and read about his time at Swansea until he got injured he was doing ok.
We are desperately short of bodies and he will compete with Vitor for minutes when we line up with a more advanced midfield player. {Since it would seem from the paucity of minutes granted to Vitor so far that we are highly unlikely to pay the absurdly high £20m option we negotiated for him at the end of the year MGW may well be viewed as a cheaper and better option for the future? }.
I also didn't think Cutrone was that bad when he was here and certainly far far better than anything Silva has shown.

Worryingly though the few snippets I have heard about his time in Italy ( not many to be honest) are not positive though.
But given the continued impact the virus is having on our finances it may be that after the massive, (and extremely wasteful expenditure), in the summer we simply have no choice under FFP rules but to stick by what we have rather than investing further.

This is a concern as unless Cutrone hits the ground running our season is likely to become ever more depressing and there has to be risk that to re-ignite the project next summer Neto or Podence may have to be sacrificed.
The purchase of Silva is the gift that never stops giving!
I guess if you cut your own foot off you limp for a long time!

6.) 09 Jan 2021 11:43:34
I think we have been pretty spoiled by Raul, his number of goals given the level of support he received is amazing and impossible to fully replace.

But, since his injury things have improved in our attack. Four at the back means we get more players forward and in the last few games there have been chances for Fabio (several) Otasowie and Donck which an in-depth alert striker would have buried.

It is possible that if we can build up Cutrone's confidence chances will be created and taken. If Neto Saiss and Traore keep up their efforts then the hope created by Raul could be patched over for the rest of the season.

7.) 09 Jan 2021 14:49:07
victory - good post.

8.) 09 Jan 2021 21:55:44
Noticed luka Jovic's been left out of the real madrid squad tonight, know we were linked with a loan move, maybe something in it.

9.) 09 Jan 2021 22:58:04
Muscle injury allegedly.

10.) 10 Jan 2021 21:24:58
Cutrone was fine in Italy. I suspect the Italian team decided they didn't want to pay that much for him.

01 Jan 2021 14:17:42
A lot of noise about us signing this Stephane Bahoken striker from Angers.

Cameroon international. Tbh he looks like a ligue 1 cheap option.
Goal scoring record nothing to shout about. Scored a few decent goals

I'd sooner Jovic or Costa.

TomsTatters

1.) 01 Jan 2021 15:15:25
First thing wolves need to do is bring Mur, Curtone and Campana back from loan if possible. They are our players and, apart from Campana if they are not thought good enough, sell them.

2.) 01 Jan 2021 15:42:42
Safe to say Rafa Mir isn't good enough to play in the PL, he struggled in the championship with Nottingham Forest. I'd doubt Cutrone will ever play for Wolves again, again he is struggling in his native Italy. I'd say give Campana a shout!

3.) 01 Jan 2021 18:07:56
Yes lots of fanfare about Campana. Throw him in Nuno.

4.) 01 Jan 2021 23:21:37
It does make me wonder whether Nuno had as much control before/ and maybe has much more say now. Cutrone seemed very much like a Thelwell signing. and we all know what happened next.

5.) 02 Jan 2021 22:25:59
Isn’t Campana out with a long term injury picked up at Grasshoppers. Cutrone and Mir not good enough, t.

6.) 04 Jan 2021 07:59:42
Mir not good enough? Why is Real Madrid interested in him?

7.) 04 Jan 2021 13:59:50
Paper talk probably Timmy. I'm not aware of too many players not good enough for Nottingham Forest that would interest Real. We'd have to go back 40 years for that.

8.) 04 Jan 2021 14:08:40
He's currently plying his trade for Huesca at the very bottom of La liga and has notched 3 goals in 17 appearances this season.

9.) 04 Jan 2021 14:10:24
Campana is with Familicao in Portugal with other Wolves youngsters Jordao and Vinagre. He's in and out of their team.

23 Dec 2020 15:21:41
Rumour we have up to 30 potential targets at Striker for Jan.

One of those being Josh King Bournemouth contract expiring summer 2021.

TomsTatters

1.) 24 Dec 2020 13:49:25
No thanks.

2.) 24 Dec 2020 16:57:04
Might not be a bad call if he could be relied upon to be fit. His injury record though makes him heir apparent to Darren Anderton's "sicknote" nickname. So, as Nigel T says, no thanks.

3.) 24 Dec 2020 22:00:24
Seen another linked closely is Odsonne Edouard Celtic. 18mil bid in. sprinkle your own salt.

4.) 24 Dec 2020 22:44:51
So who would people want then?
Assuming Jimenez is back next season and is again number 1 OR he isn't!

5.) 24 Dec 2020 23:22:28
Giacomo Vrioni or Bernardeschi on loan from Juventus. Vrioni is a youngster with great potential, Bernardeschi needs a move to reignite his career.

6.) 25 Dec 2020 07:56:11
Vinicius Jr from Real Madrid please.

7.) 26 Dec 2020 08:04:37
I think a different tact is needed this window. The teenage up and come type players not so much this time round.

Proven goal scorer who can win those headers we desperately miss.

8.) 26 Dec 2020 14:20:02
Well that would be my view as well - but they are much harder to sign mind!
The Jovic rumour above would be amazing - presumably on a 12 month loan. I have no idea when Jimenez will be fit again and able to fully contribute but fear that it isn't any time soon and maybe the start of next season is still too early to hope for?
Anyone have any news/ guide?

9.) 26 Dec 2020 14:46:57
A specialist wrote the next day that the fracture would be more or less healed within 6 weeks but once thus is done, further tests are needed to see if there is any internal damage. He gave no timescales other than at least 3 months out if no underlying issues and then a further 3 months to build the strength back to what it was before the injury so at least 6 months.

10.) 26 Dec 2020 22:28:26
tks - so start of next season is quite possible then.

Signing Willian Jose from sociedad. This is huge. Spiers confirmed.

TomsTatters

1.) 20 Jan 2021 20:15:27
As of typing this his wikipedia entry days he plays for Wolverhampton wanderers but his current club is Hednesford town! let's hope we can get a work permit for him!

19 Jan 2021 17:37:24
Spiers reporting that Wolves will target a new CB in the summer as a priority.

I have to say if we are going to stick with the back 4 as the next step of this evolution. Does this mean Coady out. He has been an incredible servant to the club so you hate to say it.

But he just does'nt look right as CB in a back 4. Bigger CFs are always going to target him as a weak link.

TomsTatters

1.) 19 Jan 2021 19:54:26
I can not understand why Coadys position in the team is being doubted, what about the contribution or more like the lack of a contribution from Moutinho/ Semedo/ Nori/ Marcel/ Neves and one goal from Traore in twelve months is not good enough and now we bring back MGW to solve our problems what a joke. Questions need to be asked about our recruitment policy and some of Nunos decisions including tacking our leader on the pitch off when he was needed most. We need to bring in quality players not untried and untested youngsters, rant over.

2.) 19 Jan 2021 21:00:12
In fairness Bazza Coadys position wasn't being questioned until our club captain was hauled off when chasing a game in a Midlands Derby! There is also no getting away from the fact that Connors attributes are far more suited to a back five than they are a back four. His ability is in his distribution whereas in a back four physicality and ariel ability are FAR more important! I do wonder if its time for Connor to make his way back into the middle of the park. If we signed a top CB for the back four then I can't really see why Connor couldn't replace Joao? He's definitely got a better passing range!

3.) 19 Jan 2021 22:52:57
If Nuno wants go forward with a back four my personal view would be to play Conor in front of them because he reads the game so well and his passing ability makes a big difference. Obviously just my opinion.

4.) 20 Jan 2021 00:01:10
Agreed Ken, that's kinda of the role I mean. I think cause he's a CB and been with us so long we sometimes take his passing for granted but it really was high up there last season for successful long passes. It would release Neves to get on the edge of the oppo box more as well, . win win 👍.

5.) 20 Jan 2021 10:44:33
Makes sense boys. Like that.
When podence back, how about
Traore up front, Neto podence on each side. What a pacy front three.
Worth a go.?

6.) 20 Jan 2021 11:59:06
I had been wondering about a deep midfield role for Connor Coady. Good sweepers can bring the ball into midfield as a natural part of their game. Not suggesting Connor is in this category but Beckenbauer was a perfect example.

7.) 20 Jan 2021 14:46:53
Greyleg - this is what I proposed when Jimenez got injured - or some combo of the 3 perhaps Neto and Traore up front and Podence as the 10.
We don't have so much talent in the squad that we can afford to leave out one of our top 3 players and yet don't see how else we get them all in without being unbalanced at the back and in midfield.
5,2,3 or 3,4,3 or 3,4,1,2?
Particularly daft to leave one out so as to play Silva - who isn't one of our top 3 or 11 or probably 15 players!

8.) 20 Jan 2021 15:13:02
Ken, Arddunby and BB - good points! Like the idea of Coady sweeping as he does read the game well but if it he does it in front rather than behind the CB's this would allow his more positive attributes, (BB agree he is a great passer) to be exploited better.
Perhaps in a 2 (like Fred/ Mctominay (sp) or Kante/ Matic at Chelsea or Vierra/ Pettit at Arsenal back in the day) with Neves.
Allowing us to play the 3 stars and a CF when Jimenez comes back in a 4,2,3,1 formation.
Def agree that for us to do this though we need a big strong CB - Boly like - along side Boly particularly if we are playing such physically frail W (F) Bs
Doherty and Otto are both solid citizens compared to Semedo and RAN.

18 Jan 2021 11:21:28
Fosun surely have to have another re-think about the transfer plan with time to go. Gibbs White and Cutrone can't be the answer?

Dont mean to sound like a vulture but ligue 1 are in serious trouble and need finance quick. Cheeky offers for top talent likely I'd say to be accepted.

Not sure if wed have to go for player who qualify under the new brexit regs. got to be worth a look at. We need established quality for sure.

TomsTatters

1.) 18 Jan 2021 13:39:35
Reading the Rumour mill today, it seems Josh King wants 120k a week, is this lad for real? Just shows you what teams are up against trying to sign players in this window, 120k a week for Championship player who doesn't feature all the time is silly money, British players have priced themselves out of the game.

2.) 18 Jan 2021 16:12:30
I agree with your sentiment but Josh King is from Norway.

3.) 18 Jan 2021 17:46:29
Ken- you are of course right but after coming through at United I'm pretty sure he still counts as homegrown which is where Sydney is right as well 👍.

4.) 18 Jan 2021 18:27:44
I stand corrected Ken, It felt like he was British for the lenght of time he has been playing in the English leagues.
But the wage tag rumoured will put most clubs off.

07 Jan 2021 09:17:10
Wolves confirmed Cutrone recalled back to the end of the season. Guess that's our striker then.

TomsTatters

1.) 07 Jan 2021 15:06:29
Next move will be to recall Big George from Maidstone!

06 Jan 2021 12:55:17
I think as many have stated Josh King might seem like the most likely. Lots of sources say we have concrete interest. Including Spiers

Its not one to blow anyone away but he could do a job.

Bournemouth are likely to want around 10 mil. I'm not sure why they think that's reasonable for an expiring contract.

Plus we have West Brom and West Ham to compete with. not really a fan of that last bit haha!

TomsTatters

1.) 06 Jan 2021 14:04:02
I think we should give Cutrone a second chance if he is willing to commit to Wolves and give us his best.

2.) 06 Jan 2021 14:31:33
MGW recalled, why not cutrone.

3.) 06 Jan 2021 14:58:16
I'm sure King could score goals for us, 10m + wages v Cutrone who would also score goals I think, just wages, comes back and scores goals, and transfer fee may well increase when we sell him on again.
Ps probs a no go in Nunos mind.

4.) 06 Jan 2021 15:04:43
I dunno about cutrone but sky reckons he's being lent out again as is vigs.

5.) 06 Jan 2021 15:24:46
Thanks for the update abbywolf.
Craig.
