Well Nuno to leave Wolves announced by the club! Explains a great deal about the motivation of the team during the last few months.
Let’s hope Fosun get a grip and we get a high quality replacement.
I must say I’m disappointed!

1.) 21 May 2021 14:14:10
I can't say I'm surprised to be totally honest, what I will say is this: I didn't want Nuno to leave. Wolves better have a decent manager lined up and not Gutasso either.

Thanks Nuno, for all the incredible memories.

2.) 21 May 2021 14:15:44
I've said this would happen all season but I have to still admit to being shocked! 😱.

3.) 21 May 2021 14:26:02
Wonder if there is any connection with Lampard pulling out of the Palace job?

4.) 21 May 2021 14:31:29
Bruno (Lage) had a dream.

5.) 21 May 2021 14:47:13
Absolutely shocked can't believe it cue the exodus that will put a end to traore putting pen to paper and leaves us fans to worry about who coming in and who going to leave how many of the players came here because of nuno? Which leaves me thinking anyone see mountiho being a manager? Just putting it out there.

6.) 21 May 2021 15:05:23
I posted a few weeks ago about Nuno possibly taking the Portugal job, Mourinho in talks but ultimately turning down Wolves and Gattuso to take over. I also states that a lot of players such as Neves, Semedo, Moutinho and Traore will be moved on.

Personally, I'm gutted that Nuno is going as I don't think Gattuso is better.

I hope we don't live to regret this.

7.) 21 May 2021 15:08:53
Not really surprised, I hope a replacement is lined up. With a Euros this summer and a short break next summer due to the World Cup having to be accomodated in November whoever comes in is not going to have much of a close season to work on recruitment this season or next by the look of it.

8.) 21 May 2021 15:17:47
Going to be rather blunt here he has form for this.
However let's not forget what he has done at our club and his kind donation too earlier this year, imo he will always be welcome back at Molinuex.

9.) 21 May 2021 15:31:10
We will regret this, back to the bad old days.

10.) 21 May 2021 15:44:44
True Rated, 4 years is the longest he's stayed as a manager anywhere by the look of it, that said I'm not sure its a good move for the club.

11.) 21 May 2021 16:03:31
It's all very sad and a big shock but TBH I had a feeling for the last 3 months or so that Nuno would leave quite amicably at the end of this season. My hope is that he will go back home now and spend some quality time with his family, who he must have missed terribly during the last few months. As for a replacement, my first choice would be Conceiacao and the one I do NOT want under any circumstances is Rafa Benitez. He has shown far too many times that he hates Wolves so there should be NO place for him at Molineux.

12.) 21 May 2021 16:10:14
Well either Fosun have massive ambition and are blaming him for the debacle of the season just gone and have a brilliant replacement/ solution in mind OR
He having seen Jeff Shi ignore his request last year for a bigger and better balanced squad has no faith that the even larger ask that is now on the table will be met and he doesn't want to be part of a desperate relegation battle.
As I have said without: 1) the injured players coming back - and that isn't happening any time soon and for some it may never 2) replacements for the players that have grown old - that was just Moutinho but may now be Patricio as well and 3) cover/ upgrades for Boly/ Saiss who are now ageing/ injury prone and going to be absent due to AFN for a period next season anyway - we are in for a difficult season and bottom 6 may be as good as we can hope for.
Who woud you want to come in?
An old stop gap who can see us through the current crisis whilst the injured players recover and the youngsters we bought get a chance to come good.
A young manager to shake things up?
A "name" who might be able to attract some good loans from the big teams in the Prem/ Europe etc etc?
Personally I'm in shock and haven't really got an idea of who I'd like!

13.) 21 May 2021 16:31:55
I suspect that Nuno and Jeff have fallen out. I wanted Nuno to stay forever but realistically his heart is in Portugal. The poor guy has been separated from his family for far too long. I hope he gets the Portugal team job.

I really can't see him going to Spurs, as Jeff would have played hardball and got compensation from Daniel Levy.

I would take Frank Lampard all day long. Tammy Abrahams would probably come with him.

14.) 21 May 2021 17:50:11
Interesting call Deep.
He did v well at Derby with youngsters and even at Chelsea the young players did ok.
Perhaps he didn't cover hmself with glory with the £50m + transfers but let's be honest how many of them are we making this year!
Would Chelsea let him have some their cast offs for Wolves either on loan or as sales?
For example
Hudson Odoi (sp) on loan untill Neto gets back, Alonso either on loan or sale untill Otto is back, (if he ever is) Giroud or as you say Abrahams again either on loan or sale untill Jimenez is flying or to play alongside etc.
Perhaps more hopefully we could get Ziyech or Pulisic or Kovacic (sp) to replace Moutinho?
More realistically and hopefully more affordably what about Gilmour - same size just a lot younger?
More I think about it the better the idea sounds and he will bring us a v v high profile at the very least - shame he isn't a few years younger as he could have shared minutes with Moutinho and unlike Neves he never lost his shooting boots!

15.) 21 May 2021 18:12:57
Bruno Lage is bookies favourite and as a Portuguese manager he may be able to keep the Portuguese players happy. Having said that fans have been calling for more hone grown players particularly those from championship clubs with great prospects. I agree with Deep Throat if Lampard was considered Abrahams might consider joining but does he (Lampard) have enough experience for Fosun?
It’s a changing of the guard and May take a couple of seasons to sort out.

16.) 21 May 2021 19:41:55
Well the BBC were reporting that no other clubs were involved in the decision as they understood it. So Deep could be right I wouldn't be surprised to see Nuno in the Portugal job.

17.) 22 May 2021 12:24:06
I'd love to be right about Lampard and all that he could bring to Wolves, but I suspect that Fosun will go for a Portuguese coach due to their connection with Mendes.

18.) 22 May 2021 19:33:48
On a certain betting website, Kevin Muscat 66 to 1 to be next manager. Would be interesting!

19.) 23 May 2021 10:17:46
Bruno Lage doesn't fit the bill though. He has a years managerial experience winning the portugese league.

But we wanted European football. I think it will be Rafa or Fonseca. Rafa has won it all (not sure if he is the manager to settle the club though and trust money with) .

As Fonseca is under Gestifute and has links with Mendes. He is portugese so will get on with current squad.
Lage would be a good coach under Fonseca.

20.) 23 May 2021 23:40:31
It really won't be Muscat, really, no way

Probably Portuguese but Fosun might surprise us and appoint Lampard or Benitez.

You guys are absolutely correct about VAR.
Firstly the linesman was 3 yards behind play. Secondly it was definitely a penalty.
The problem is that the way VAR has been used is totally inept.
The Linesman have been told to keep the flag down on close offside decisions.
This was supposed to stop errors and increase goal scoring. Problem is the linesmen delaying flags takes the decision away from them and makes them frightened to make a mistake.
The Referee has been instructed to let the game flow but once again they are frightened to make a decision in case VAR makes them look bad!
Therefore they delegate the decision to VAR.
Problem then occurs when VAR don’t wish to make the Referee on the pitch look bad by intervening. So they don’t do their job.
It was so much easier when officials were the sole arbiters of the rules. Yes, of course we made errors, just like players do. However it was accepted that as humans Referees would get decisions right 99% of the time. Players accepted this, even if they did give abuse. We as officials also accepted that if we got a decision wrong we would be under scrutiny by TV and fans.
It appears to me that currently VAR has just made matters worse. Now there is two officials who can get things wrong and often do.
It would be interesting to see statistics on how many errors VAR officials have made compared to those made by officials prior to VAR.
Has VAR improved the game?
Or has it just slowed decision making down and made today’s officials second guess themselves?
As others posted here other sports don’t have the same problems. Why won’t Officials follow Rugby by allowing the conversation between VAR and linesmen or Referee and players to be heard?
Ok the abuse and language from players would have to stop but surely that would be a good thing.
The way VAR is conducted in Premier needs looking at before it totally ruins the game.

PGMOL's director Mike Riley has I think apologised once this season to Everton I think from memory. Not something they normally do. If they had to for every glaring mistake he'd be doing it after most matches in my opinion. I'm biased I never wanted it the on field ref should be the sole arbiter it's what the game was meant to be. It's supposed to be the same if the game is on a park or in a stadium. It's slowly spoiling the spectacle for me. What's the point of a fag break before you know if you can celebrate or not!

Sky reports Villa link with Poch if Gerrard is sacked?
What are Wolves playing at with all these second rates?

ExRef

1.) 18 Oct 2022 09:50:20
We can only watch and wonder.

2.) 18 Oct 2022 12:25:51
Two things, why would Pochettino go to Villa? It's not all about being a big name, look a little deeper at things like, do they have a high win percentage across various clubs they've managed (Amorim). Irrespective of their managerial experience do the appear to be in the ascendency (Ian Beale)? etc.

Personally, give me an ascending young manager who can pick and motivate a team any day.

3.) 18 Oct 2022 12:38:41
We were linked with Lopetgui, didn't mean he wanted the job did it! Absolutely no chance they are getting Poch, I have a sneaky feeling he's waiting to see if/when Conte heads back to Italy ?

4.) 18 Oct 2022 15:12:05
I often wonder why wouldn’t we Atleast talk to him? Worst he can say is no and doesn’t require compensation.

5.) 18 Oct 2022 16:36:46
There turning us down like we've got the plague, Marcellino now,
What's going on. This rate well end up with Steve Bruce, smh,??

6.) 18 Oct 2022 17:55:26
Maybe because after interview they realise that Shi and Sellars are inept and they don’t fancy having a transfer policy dictated by Mendes?

13 Oct 2022 15:02:38
Well it appears to be a complete shambles in our search for a new manager!
Fosun and Shi must take the blame!
Are they trying to do things on the cheap or is it the shareholding in Mendes agency they are protecting? Moving cash around their interests might seem sensible but if the businesses can’t perform then what is the point?
If Fosun are really committed to Wolves as a top six club now is tte time to bring in the big guns for the medium to long term.
At this stage the possibility of losing Premier League status will be the most costly for the club, whilst investing a large amount now means the opportunity of recouping large amounts in the medium to long term.
As others have said there is something drastically wrong within the club who allowed Bruno to decimate the squad but bring in expensive but unproven Premier players.
Now is not the time to phaf around get a top class experienced manager in to enable work to be done during the World Cup break.
Ok our international contingent will be missing but these players should be able to adapt when they return.

13 Oct 2022 17:10:12
We not surprisingly seem to be having a few problems attracting a manager of the quality we all want.
How about this as a totally crazy idea, (v high risk given their total lack of experience but v v cheap so may appeal to Shi!), offer Moutinho and Coady roles as joint player managers?
The veterans amongst us may recall that Charlton did this with Curbishley and Gritt in the early 90s with reasonable succes.
Clearly they will know the squad well and should be able to rally a response (seemingly one of the major problems at the moment) and of course both are still superb players even if Moutinho should only be playing (himself) sparingly.
Not sure how it gets more goals out of the squad but if Jimenez can be coaxed back and Costa gets fitter maybe between them they can provide us with a number 9 till Jan when surely we have to go all in and buy a ready to play premier league quality player almost whatever the cost?

2.) 13 Oct 2022 19:59:16
It's a nice idea Future but never going to work. Coady is only 29 and will have eyes only for getting on that plane to the WC besides which we can't recall him. I'd like to see Moutinho given a coach contract (maybe with the kids to begin with) when he finishes but why would he want it now?! Sorry to say it but they wouldn't be interested I suspect! We really are in a pickle and it will take a quality/experienced managed to save us, problem is that's clearly easier said that done from our current position! ?

3.) 13 Oct 2022 21:05:19
It is a nice idea Tfiog but Coady couldn't do that until the end of the season, by which time it might be too late. As for Moutinho, it wouldn't surprise me to see him doing that at some stage anyway.

I think we'll see Edwards and Collins continuing until an appointment is made.

4.) 13 Oct 2022 21:27:57
I did say it was totally crazy!
However it is probably the only way we get Coady back, (he presumably could ask to come back? - or have we/he signed a 12 month no break fixed term contract?)! If he wants to, eventually, get into coaching/management it is still a fantastic opportunity! Management in the premier league, (even if the worst occurs and it is only for a few months), normally wouldn't be available to someone with zero experience {but of course as we know we now aren't in a normal position}, but sadly I agree he's gone!
Moutinho I suspect regardless of how the season pans out will also leave at the end of the year- with lots of offers from elsewhere as a player, player/coach or coach and coaching our kids probably won't seem that attractive. Consequently if we want to keep him this may be the only way but sadly again I agree you are almost certainly correct and neither he or Coady would want the job. What an indictment of our situation that we think that two senior pros - who surely will go into coachng/management at the end of their careers - would turn down a chance to start their careers in management managing in the premier league. Just how toxic have we become?
For Moutinho what is there left to keep him here anyway - the club is not the one he joined. When Neves, (and Traore, Otto and Jimenez), goes this summer/hopefully not Jan will there be anyone left from the days when he signed for the club and we were looking upwards!

05 Oct 2022 23:28:20
Lopetegui sacked after 4-1 loss in Europe.
I just don’t understand why a failing manager would be suitable for another failing manager’s replacement?
For goodness sake Fosun spend the dosh and get a top class manager in.
The return would be there in the medium to long term.

ExRef

1.) 06 Oct 2022 01:56:58
As I said in rumours tbf to him he has lost all his best players including both of his CBs,
Seville are not the same team we played a couple of years back.

2.) 06 Oct 2022 09:07:44
ExRef. Have to agree. Managers go "past their best" in much the same way as players. And I think Lopetegui is at that stage. I seriously think we'll have a relegation battle on our hands, and one we may not win, if he is appointed. Which seems very likely. I just don't se how he's going to get us scoring goals. The damage Lage has done to our squad cannot be understated.

3.) 06 Oct 2022 10:04:23
Easy to blame Lage for everything that went wrong at our club but Shi and Sellers and some of the players are just as guilty, who ever the next manager or coach is, he will have big job on his hands.

4.) 06 Oct 2022 10:30:44
While some players maybe guilty, not to the extent of Lage, he decimated our squad. Not giving our squad defendes any opportunities, playing players totally out of position, totally out of their comfort zone. Surely when you have several new players in you play the team and all the players in their best positions and the formation that you intended to play. Not square pegs in round holes, If players were not performing in
Training or on the pitch that's was totally in the hands of Lage,no one on the playing side is anywhere near as guilty as Lage, sorry if anyone doesn't agree, but I've watched week after
Week our decline some of the players must have felt really despondent.

5.) 06 Oct 2022 11:21:26
I don't think many would disagree Norfolk, we were poor with the players we lost and we're still poor now with new ones.
That does really point to the Manager, his tactics, questionable selection and substitution decisions (understatement). Inevitably, this will eventually frustrate the players to the point where they will just give up and their performances suffer.

6.) 06 Oct 2022 11:35:44
Have to agree with Norfolk, the signs were there at the end of last season. The brighter side of things is that we have a better squad this season for a new manager to work with. We have lost some players that I would have kept but overall a talented squad of players that should be well clear of the relegation zone. All we need now is a manager who can get this engine purring.

7.) 06 Oct 2022 12:57:47
I'm v much with Exref and Sharesum here.
We are paying £20, 30, for each player, why balk at paying the lower of that to get the best key man you can the manager!
Seems nonsense otherwise to me - you let a failed and sacked manager spend £100m. Plus 2 months ago, and now go cheapskate!
Go get / but / pay for the best.
Amorin all the way fits that in my book!
Go Jorge.with the cash!

03 Sep 2022 17:08:49
A win but Lage looks desperate!
Looks like new centre forward is crocked now as well as Raul.
Not the exciting football we were promised but at least a win.
I was shouting “Play it Forward!” More times than I can remember.
Sorry but Large doesn’t fill me with confidence and I think the team are in the same boat.
Well done to the Wolves support for cheering the team on .

Missed entire game, tech stopped, son at work and being of that age didn't know how to relink. Radio on app kept stopping. Just about learnt that sasa off half time, neto not on expected form, jonny excellent, Nunes looking good, guedes abit lost and bruno subbed late again. Pods scuffed a goal and Sa almost gifted goal to Southampton. Doesn't sound too inspiring. Oh well, only Liverpool away next week. COYW.

2.) 03 Sep 2022 17:44:29

3.) 03 Sep 2022 18:01:32
Buxwolf, I was at the game, Wolves played some scintillating football *at times* all you do is moan.

4.) 03 Sep 2022 18:19:31
To be fair, we looked good going forward on the 1st half. Sasa looked like he was ready to allow us to play a faster style of football. That all changed after he went off injured. Let's just hope he's OK for next week.

5.) 03 Sep 2022 18:20:53
Hello Buxwolf, your contributions always make me appreciate being a wolves fan and the posts from genuine wolves fans, who talk sense with a sense of irony and humour. It makes me realise how boring it must be in the company of others who are so unfunny and miserable.

6.) 04 Sep 2022 08:06:08
The joke being if Mitrovic and Toney hadn't started the season well we wouldn't have heard mention of them. We've signed Nunes one of the best midfielders in Europe and you don't want him, really?

7.) 04 Sep 2022 14:53:04
I think Nunes is a long way off that just yet, Longmynd. He has the potential, yes, but has many areas to work on.After all, he's only just started to feature in Portuguese squads but he's young and talented so let's hope that he goes all the way (with us, of course).

Selling players (Assets on balance sheet) and getting rid of their wages ( future debits on an ongoing basis) the money received going into the company as current assets. If Fosun have made loans ( plus the £90million government loan) these could be repaid thus balancing out creditors.
That may be what a buyer would look for under due diligence to ensure they have value for the price they are willing to pay. Either way a buyer would have to take on the company debts unless it was liquidated which is highly unlikely.
It would be a good way for Fosun to claim their loans back so a potential buyer doesn’t have to cover them.
Brings the cost of purchase down as others have posted.
So maybe not as far fetched as we may believe?

The problem appears to be with the player. Adama
It seems that he is hanging on for a “top four club” to come in for him. A case of visions of grandeur?
I fully appreciate that players have a short career and want to maximise their earnings and improve their reputation. Problem here is he doesn’t perform consistently to his obvious ability.
Barcelona saw the problem as he started well but fell off to be left on the bench or even not in the squad. This points to an attitude problem for me.
All players go through peaks and troughs but those who are mentally committed to a club fight to regain their place and the respect of team mates and fans alike. May be a new start is the best for player and club? Maybe a new manager can motivate him once again. We all need new challenges in our lives to keep us on our toes.

Ed02 reminds me of my army days being sent to the stores for a tin of white paint to paint the last post 😁
So many rumours about Wolves players leaving and Nuno raiding the squad for Everton ( if he does actually go there)
Obviously uncertainty during this transition and the Euros making things linger on.
I think that everyone is just waiting to see what the plan is.
The press speculation is, of course, unsettling.
Nowt we can do as supporters but just put trust in the new coach and the executives who run the club.

I’m not sure what has happened to the Premier League officials the standard has dropped considerably.
There should have been a foul inn Traore in midfield given but once it went on what was Collins doing with Grealish? If VAR can't see the trip then we are all doomed!

Rangers top of the championship Beal has the support of his board, players and fans even if Rangers don’t win Championship it’s a win win.
Why would he risk all that for a struggling Premiership club?
The grass is not always greener!
If he does come to Wolves it would be like Nuno leaving when we were top of Championship a devastating effect on the project.
Shi and Sellars must realise by now after being turned down by so many managers that their strategy is incorrect?
They must bring in a proven big name in my opinion if Wolves have any chance of survival.
I know the arguments against this but now is the time for big decisions about long term not short term strategies.
Ditch the Mendes approach for this as it’s only moving money from one Fosun company to another.
Thinking outside the box also means not making the same mistakes over and over.
It is worrying.

In my view it was down to lack of investment that Nuno’s team became stagnant.
Yes we spent £35 million on a young centre forward but Covid made financial deals very difficult.
With the investments made in new players recently Nuno would have a larger and younger squad.
Fosun were obviously not happy with a mid table position so Nuno got the chop.
Lage held on to the goat tails of Nuno last year but as we are all aware he decimated the squad and brought in other players.
The Spirit was broken by his style of management.
Maybe the current players will respond to Nuno’s style?
I think his time at Spurs was marred by the players not accepting him or his methods.
Just my view
