Just look at his face, Nuno’s living his dream, Fosun and Shi stopped us going with him.

Everan Aday

1.) 04 Mar 2025 06:18:52
He left frustrated Everan.like every manager since.

2.) 04 Mar 2025 06:49:50
Difference is Forest have an ambitious owner, we have Fosun, we’re ambitious for a few years till Nuno wanted to strengthen after the Seville game , then the ambition disappeared.

3.) 04 Mar 2025 08:21:10
I think we're getting selective memories here. Remember Nuno stated he wanted a small squad and it worked for 2 seasons as we had virtually no injuries and kept the same team week in, week out even in Europe. It started going sour when we lost Jimenez and then lost others through injury. Also are we forgetting the two disastrous substitutions in the FA cup semi against Watford when we were leading 2-0. Remember no plan B.

4.) 04 Mar 2025 10:37:21
Blacksford - you are correct we had a tiny squad for the first two years in the Prem and Nuno did not complain.
However after Seville he specifically asked for more investment, remember relative to our peers we had spent pennies up until then moving from a mid table Championship side to the next cab off the rank.
The club swapped Jota and Doherty for Semedo, Fabio and Hoever! (We actually brought in 2 kids who have since done well in Toti and RAN)
Then as you say we had a series of injuries and the reason why Nuno had asked for a bigger squad became obvious.
I agree he was criticised by some for a lack of a plan B but his plan A worked reasonably well - and still does it seems.
It was obviously gutting that we fell at the 1/4s in Europe and the Semi's in the FA cup - both games we could easily have won - but we hadn't been that unlucky for a long long time prior to that and haven't since
Be careful what you wish for.
If Jeff had gone, (replaced by someone competent) and Nuno stayed where would we be now - fighting for our very existence as a club (relegation may well mean administration) or fighting for trophies at home and in Europe?

5.) 04 Mar 2025 11:18:10
We'll never know the real truth of what happened between Nuno and the board.

What we do know is that Nuno has Forest flying high. But in that last season, we could all see that the spark had gone and we were playing some turgid football and some of the fans thought Nuno had taken us a far as he could. Maybe if Fosun had pumped in the money, we'd be where Forest are now. Hindsight is wonderful.

Other recent examples: Vitinha was truly awful when at Molineux but at PSG has become a star. Also, yesterday Trincao was linked to a summer bidding war between Man City and Man Utd for circa £50m. But he was one of the worst players in recent history at Molineux. As I said. Hindsight is wonderful.

6.) 04 Mar 2025 17:04:45
Don't want to be accused of being a pedant, Future, but Nuno's current plan A is different to his plan A with us. Most obviously his plan A now hinges on having two strong central defenders whereas try as he might he could never rely on just having two in his Molineux days hence always playing with a back five.

7.) 05 Mar 2025 13:12:48
Nuno’s learning path…
"By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest."
- Confucius

Typical football fan…
"The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be."

- Marcel Pagnol

If we survive will Fosun actually commit to the future of the Club, if not it has to be time to go.

Everan Aday

1.) 05 Feb 2025 15:22:03
They will EveranAday but not in a way we will like.

On a more positive note just watched a compilation of Munetsi's goals, not bad at all, if he's going to be allowed to get forward that is.

2.) 05 Feb 2025 17:39:01
LMW 21 in 148 for Reims, respectable stats for a defensive midfielder.

3.) 05 Feb 2025 17:41:54
As I've said before I wouldn't be surprised if Fosun jacked in the summer leaving us in pieces, yes, we've brought 3 players in, not first choices by the look of it and certainly not at a fortune. I hope the scouts have identified their talent, and I hope all 3 prove to be successful, but quite what it shows regards fosuns intent I don't know.
There's a lot to consider regards the future, the on field staff of course, the division were in, the state of the mol and its development as mentioned below.
Fosun surely owe it to the fans, and supporters who part with their cash to maintain the club, to explain the intent.

4.) 05 Feb 2025 21:32:44
So lamina say good bye to all Wolves fans, I say good riddance, s**t on our great club, didn’t deserve that .

5.) 06 Feb 2025 07:37:33
With a worth of a few hundred million or so, but much less if we got relegated, it's difficult to envisage them jacking us in Abbey. It's equally difficult to envisage anything other than the January firefighting to maintain Premier status that we've been witnessing too often for comfort. Having ownership of a top flight English club within their portfolio gives them a certain amount of worldwide kudos but they seem unwilling or unable to push to the next step.

6.) 06 Feb 2025 09:08:19
LongMW I hope Munetsi can break through the midfield and go for goal as Lescott did on a few occasions!

VP seems to be building from the back as Nuno did. Let’s hope it’s a good sign.

I like his idea of making Wolves a more physical and assertive team. Adding in a bit of intelligent play could lead us to a good position come the end of the season.

7.) 06 Feb 2025 10:55:22
I think that might be in the thinking BoSWolf. As much as VP wants a strong defense I think he will want them to transition to attack quickly via the wingbacks but also through the middle given the opportunity.

They will have had a weeks training so the upcoming cup game would be perfect to give the new boys a run out, imo.

05 Feb 2025 14:19:45
So we stay up this season, maybe, what next? Watch on while other Clubs build new stadiums or increase capacity, create fanzones and improve facilities while Molineux falls further behind what’s required to host Premier League football, how long are fans expected to sit outside in the Graham Hughes? Is anything going to be done in the next two, three, five, ten years? If not, why not? The Club can’t stand still, occupying a place in the bottom six in a rapidly dilapidating stadium while Fosun buy and sell players in the hope of making money, it’s not what the Premier League’s about. It’s all well and good looking forward to the next game, we won’t be looking forward to the one after, we’re still in big trouble, if we survive

Everan Aday

1.) 05 Feb 2025 15:15:15
Afraid so EveranAday, that's exactly what our future holds and some of us have been saying this has been coming for several years and been shot down on occasion for saying it.

I'm trying to put it to one side for now so I can hopefully get a bit of enjoyment out of this season before your questions start to get answered, but I doubt it will go away.

As for the Stadium, that's an old gripe and that is something Fosun themselves could fund independently of PSR so why aren't they? I think we all know the answer.

2.) 05 Feb 2025 16:14:00
In fairness the Stadium is a big issue, to expand it and maintain football is going to take years. Sir Jack's 3 side redevelopment took 3 seasons. The reduced capacity was not much of an issue as a championship side. What's the alternative a new stadium at the i54, not sure most home fans would want that, or move elsewhere for the duration of a complete rebuild at the mol. Where to is another issue completely though. Any option would be a statement of intent from Fosun.

3.) 05 Feb 2025 16:20:14
Guys,
We don't know what the future holds and yes the stadium is looking tired, but has anyone actually raised the question to Shi or Fosun on the stadium? All I've heard previously from Shi via the media is that Fosun are committed to the club and Wolves are not for sale. That might change of course if we get relegated, but replacing GON with VP and supporting him this window at least shows some commitment from Fosun. I've asked this on numerous posts but I thought we (Wolves Fans) had a council to meet with the club hierarchy to discuss club matters? If so then the stadium should be high on the agenda and the response made clear so we all know rather than speculate. I'm not sure it would be that easy to expand Molineux in it's current location and wasn't there a suggestion that Fosun might build a stadium elsewhere in the city in the early days of their ownership, which was met with uproar in some quarters.
Anyway I'm with you LMW and going to try and enjoy the rest of the season and hope for a good cup run.

4.) 05 Feb 2025 18:25:03
Blackfords Fosun have already stated several years ago that the payback on each stand is 15 years which is problematic for them. As for replacing GON with VP and 'backing him' that was to right the wrongs of the recent past that had us heading for relegation which would have been a disaster for them.

If we do stay up the time to really judge them will be in the Summer when we'll see if lessons have been learnt or it's just more of the same.

5.) 06 Feb 2025 04:48:20
I have long held the view that Fosun want out. They followed other international buyers but remain the last Chinese owner, I believe. They are an investment company and saw a business model they thought would provide a return with Wolves, this hit the skids with some bad buys on the shirttails of Mendes poorer recommendations.
They have enhanced the value of the club, but not got the expected returns from their investment. I believe the purchases this window are defensive, to protect the value of the club by keeping it in the Premiership.
If they succeed then I can see a summer sale of the club pursued.
If they had long term plans for Wolves work would be a long way forward on an improved stadium by now.
They could also have sponsored the stadium like City, or enhanced the Chinese exposure to Wolves. None of this has been seriously exploited.

Based on these few sections with only one current player making the team, reading between the lines, it seems posters are saying all those we’ve sold, some who are still playing at the top level, were much better than what we’ve got now, if nothing else some of the names mentioned are a great indicator in showing the direction Fosun are taking the club. Graham Turner’s promoted and Sherpa VanTrophy winning teams would’ve been more than a match for Fosun Wolves.

Everan Aday

1.) 05 Sep 2024 16:33:00
All positive stuff Everan.

2.) 05 Sep 2024 21:30:15
Everan- my side only contains one player from the pre Fosun era as I believe it is fairly obvious, (although seemingly not to you?), that Fosun have taken us to levels not seen for many, many, years.
However similarly there are only 2 current players as, once again, it is pretty obvious that a side that came 7th twice and reached an F A cup semi and a Euro quarter is far superior to our current side - that is sadly now one that will be battling to finish in the lower mid table.
Out of interest though I thought about the side of players we have sold that are still playing in the Prem
Literally off the top of my head so forgive me if I missed someone out:
Ruddy at Newcastle
Boly, Collins and Kilman
Coady, Dendonker, Morgan Gibbs White and Nunes
Jota, Raul, Neto and Traore

12 so 1 on the bench.

Obviously quite a few we sold are also plying their trade outside of the UK as well so yes we probably could produce a fairly decent team of players we no longer have.
However even without all of them our side is still in my view far superior to anything we would have put out for many years prior to Fosun arriving.

3.) 06 Sep 2024 11:40:28
Fosun took us to levels not seen since the seventies and early eighties, just before all players worth any money were sold and Molineux as we knew it was condemned, with absolutely no investment in the Stadium we’ll have to hope any similarities are purely coincidental.

23 Jul 2024 15:43:01
Wondering why some clubs can increase capacity of their stadiums generating more income, spend money on players and compete for European qualification where they can generate even more money, while Wolves under Fosun can do none of the above, their reasons for doing nothing is mystifying.

Everan Aday

1.) 23 Jul 2024 17:38:11
Which teams have done this?

2.) 23 Jul 2024 18:26:12
its called lack of ambition over to you jeff moxshi

3.) 23 Jul 2024 18:29:55
Was wondering the same.

4.) 23 Jul 2024 19:27:38
Weren't the club looking to expand the stadium a few years ago only for Covid to thwart the plans. I thought they were looking to expand the stadium in the same way Liverpool did, namely build the shell behind the existing stands but one of the major problems was the dual carriageway.

5.) 23 Jul 2024 20:14:35
The cost of construction materials has skyrocketed since Brexit, given that and the lack of skilled professionals has bent prices for projects have gone through the roof (I'm a construction professional).

Look at the number of small/medium construction companies that have gone into administration.

It would make no sense to expand the Molineaux right now.

6.) 23 Jul 2024 21:28:29
Luton.

7.) 23 Jul 2024 21:36:31
When will be a good time to expand Molineux then Fordhouse Jack?
Will building material costs come down in future?
Is this why Everton ended up in trouble by building a new stadium while building materials are high?
Would Everton have been better off waiting for a better opportunity?

8.) 23 Jul 2024 23:12:43
I think the difference between Everton and ourselves is that Everton have decided to move location whereas Fosun want to stay where we are so there are limitations such as existing buildings and roads.

9.) 23 Jul 2024 23:13:25
The other option is to build a new ground elsewhere in the city, but where?

10.) 24 Jul 2024 06:39:59
Or wait for the Gov't to get behind hosting one of the big sporting events. Ask them to build a 60-70 thousand stadium in Wolverhampton and when it's redundant ask them nicely to give it to us. Tongue in cheek but that's how WHU got theirs isn't it. Extra capacity from Upton park. They moaned about the move at first, but don't hear many moaning now. Extra capacity equals extra revenue equals greater spending power equals opportunity to get players. Apologies but I get a bit bitter when some of the chosen few get an unfair advantage when have to find a way.

{Ed001's Note - and City got theirs on the free.}

11.) 24 Jul 2024 07:14:33
For me, of all of Fosun's broken promises, I find their lack of investment in the club's facilities the hardest to swallow! Sorry, but it is a shambles that the most they've spent on the stadium was to recondition a temp stand after they let it become unsafe and are still using said (uncovered) temp stand!

Half of the problem, however is that I suspect they've realised the same thing that many other owners have; that ticket sales aren't a huge part of a club's overall income. In 2023, Wolves made £15.1m on the gates, whereas they made £125m for broadcasting (rights and league distributions)! Not even comparable, is it! We even made £13.3m just in sponsors and advertising that season, again nearing a season's worth of gate receipts.

So whilst like everyone else I would love to see Fosun finally do the work the stadium desperately needs, in real terms a new/revamped few stands would likely add (at best) £5-10m in extra gate money a season. That barely covers a signing on fee for some players these days! Oh btw, once you take out the likely repayments for the loan they'd take to do the work, you can probs write off that extra £5-10m, anyway!

Here in lies the problem. We all want the stadium sorted, but it's not an easy route to financial security and the next level. Quite the opposite, get it wrong and you're playing in a lower league for a half empty stadium! ?

12.) 24 Jul 2024 09:40:06
m54 top of Stafford road

13.) 24 Jul 2024 11:40:25
If you have to close each existing stand for a season to add a few thousand extra seats, it's going to be 3 to 4 years and multi millions in cash spent on top of lost gate receipts before any benefit is realised. In truth Covid was probably the best time to develop at least one stand as nobody was at the matches.

14.) 25 Jul 2024 07:31:34
What happened to the rail seating proposal? Or was it just a dream I had?

{Ed001's Note - rail seating doesn't increase capacity.}

15.) 25 Jul 2024 10:44:45
So the reports and fanfare of a few years ago was something about nothing? Sorry. Will go back to sleep now.

{Ed001's Note - it was about 'safe' standing, but that does not increase capacity.}

16.) 25 Jul 2024 14:30:54
As long as it looks good on the tele.

Mikebayleaf : First 3 words, spot on, next 5 words, wishful thinking, might be a good time to invest in the Stadium while around 10, 000 will be taking a break next season, that won’t happen either.

My prediction for what it’s worth : only three teams can win the League, five or six will compete for European places, five or six will be safely mid - table, the bottom six will be ‘round about ten points adrift by January forming a ‘mini League’ going into the second half of the season, the five joining us will be the three promoted sides along with West Ham and Brentford, of the others I still see Man Utd and Spurs struggling to make the top half. As for our owners who’ve well and truly dropped us into a hole there’s a saying that comes to mind, “When you’re in a hole, stop digging”. We need to be asking why are Fosun still here? What do they want? Where are they taking our club?

Lonymynd : The “Protect”, as it becomes more obvious as time goes by and years become a decade was to pull the wool over our eyes, something they’ve succeeded in doing despite our CEO admitting there’s nothing to see here, go watch someone else. They’ve even managed to convince some fans that we’re a little club punching above our weight, Fosun’s project is trading players for profit, nothing else, the club is a plaything, a pass time and just a finger in another pie for them, it’s a way of life for us and the only reason Molineux is still full most of the time, they treat fans with contempt, players are here today and gone tomorrow, our only hope is most of their tenure is behind them.
