Just seen the following regarding Abline:-
It’s unclear whether Wolves are expected to meet Kita’s €50m request.
Surely they know about us, €25m has already been rejected we will probably go in at €20m.
Be interesting to see the team today and performance as you would expect the same next week.

I seem to remember last season we won 4 out of 6 friendlies, how did that translate in to the start of the season? Anyone remember? Why would you expect the same performance next week as today, two completely different games where players will, perhaps subconsciously try harder in one than the other. I’m not sure why there’s so much focus on how we play in pre season. Judging by last season it makes no difference to how we start the season imo.

Ok Goatmark1 may be not the performance, however I would have thought VP would start with his preferred line up. Don’t care particularly if we play terrible and lose all friendly games, by all accounts so far this is the case. If we win next week it doesn’t matter one bit.

Agree goatmark 1. Pre season is fitness but also not going so hard that you injure yourself. Next week is when all players will be giving 100% and fully switched on. I also have said that last pre season I thought wow we looked really good and then we lost our first 10 or so games and were terrible. No point moaning about transfers and the fact that the majority of players that have left the club have been deadwood and those who were not going to be first team players.

I think Banksy was referring to the expected starting line up. Rather than result.

Fair point, yes it will be interesting to see what the lineup is, see if Wolfe starts, Lopez seems to be getting a lot of minutes so far. I’m also interested to see how VP fits bellegarde in, I thought he might play more central but hard to fit him Gomes and Andre in.

We were talking about optimism yesterday and I fully believe that when things are tried out at players tested as they have been so far the results are insignificant, however today I'd like to think that the game would have a competitive approach and we'd gain some confidence in feeling we'd found the joined up unity VP would be looking for, and that we'd go into the starter on a high. Last season we'd resigned ourselves to a difficult set of games and maybe expected the outcomes.
We need to feel that we're in a good place this term and a decent performance today could only help.
So I for one take this game with some seriousness. COYW

No Bellegarde or Munetsi, Lopez instead. What does everyone think of performance so far?

Didn’t watch it but it doesn’t feel promising or particularly good that we haven’t won in preseason, interested to hear people thoughts on the performance.

Embarrassing to be honest. When you see Hwang come on its like saving the white f!ag. Can't think of one who played even half decent. Good luck with picking a team next week. Play anything like today and City only have to turn for 3 points.

Well that was dire, and any hope I had was slowly, slowly taken from me. We didn't seem to have the desire as a unit, just individuals chasing around Andre and gomez. Celta easily played around and over us.
Even with the brief flurry towards the end we still didn't shown the self belief a team should have.
I wonder where and by whom the passion to win will come from.
Dreading the result next week now.

Pleased you feel the same Abbeywolf everyone seems to think I am being pessimistic, hope pre season means nothing. Doesn’t look good at the moment, I not saying anything further as people seem to think all ok and we will wake up next week, hope they correct ??

13.) 09 Aug 2025
09 Aug 2025 17:28:49
Yeah really not great, celta finished around 7th though so they’re a decent team. We just look bereft of ideas tbh which was my fear after loosing cunha and rayan. But it all counts for nothing, what really matters is what happens from next weekend onwards. definitely need a Rb, don’t like the look of Hooever, and a for me we need a CM who offers something different, and obviously a forward.

It's not pessimism Banksy, just realism but don't worry the positive spin, nothing to worry about brigade, will be along soon to cheer you up.

If some people on here thought a few comments on this platform were negative then let me tell you there were a lot more from people leaving the ground today. Very poor in virtually all areas.

Don't get me wrong Banksy, I'll be fully behind the wolves next week, those wearing the old gold, but I wonder, seriously wonder if they wearing the shirt are as committed as me.

The question I ask myself today is would we have fared better with Cunha and RAN in the team and I'm not sure we would. We were outplayed outrun and out thought which is not a good place to be with City looming on the horizon. VP hasn't got this team to understand what each other is doing it's as if they returned from their holidays this morning.
I am beginning to fear for the season ahead even if we do get some additions. We would need the likes of a Gerrard or Beckham to make any difference and we are unlikely to get that caliber of player.

Lets all wait until everything is sorted out. It doesn't look good boys but, I can't give up just yet Come on let's have a bit of positivity UTW.

The team is badly prepared for the new season. And whether we like to admit it that is down to VP. I know the owners and Shi leave a lot to be desired but the buck stops with the manager.

Its true.pre ssn results mean nothing really.but.wev lost our2 main scoring/creating players.30+goals.replaced with let's hope n see.along with the others whov gone or going soon.leaves us with a weaker first11.and a much weaker bench too.no sarabia to bring on.etc.relegation is only a matter of time.we all know it.just accept it.WREXHAM will be taking our place in the prem soon enuf.

Wouldn't it be great Abbey if we could harness all the ambition on this site and transfer it to the club.

I think that's right tho Derry, show the passion for the club/team that we put forward and they'd be getting some where, and it made think, the piera points and then pints relationship isn't there, maybe in front of a packed molineux we'll see a reaction. They'll certainly get a pints, no points no piera if they go on like that.
