I see that them lot down the road have sacked their manager after 9 games as he was proving to be useless.

But Fosun continue to back Edwards whose stats are worse.

RE, like it or not, wasn't brought in to save us from relegation this season, unlike the Tesco bags recruitment. He's been recruited to try & get us promoted next season, to rebuild a squad after what remains after we lose our better assets. I don't think it would matter who we had as manager; we don't have enough quality to compete at this level.

So, I'm assuming you'd prefer us to be run like West Brom GWL, good to know what some fans hope for.

Mick McCarthy or Dave Jones did not have enough quality to compete in the Prem, but they both gave it a better crack than RE is currently delivering. Do we honestly think this current crop is worse than the hand Mick was dealt? No chance. Mick would have given a right arm for a midfield like Andre and Gomes. I understand and agree that RE has been dealt a poor hand to play; however, one win all season is simply not good enough. It's all well and good saying he's been bought in for next year, but good performances, like poor performances, become habitual, and anyone watching our current showings must see that it is not suddenly going to click with us miraculously starting to win the moment we arrive in the Champ.?! At this stage I'd give him till the end of the season, as it's not worth the cost of replacing him when we are already down.

That does not, and absolutely should not, mean though that he's untouchable. If we don't win another game before the end of the season, personally I think his position becomes a little untenable. It's fine to say we never expected to stay up; it's not OK to say we never expected to see us fight, because right now I'm only seeing that for, at best, 45 mins a game. It doesn't help that he is consistently getting the starting lineup/system wrong, and we only improve after changes, because you don't get away with that in any league, I'm afraid, gents. ?

If it means sacking a manager who is completely out of his depth, then, yes, I would prefer Fosun to do what the Baggies have done and get rid. We've had 1 win since RE came in, and there has been no clear change in style of play.

Just to reiterate. Rob Edwards has had 17 League games in charge of Wolves and has picked up 8 points. This equates to 0.47 points per game or 17.86 points over the entire season. Yes, I know the squad is poor and weak, but earlier in the season, Everton, Leeds, Burnley, Palace and Forest all came to Molineux and played us off the park. You would expect that, under a new manager with his fresh ideas, we could do to them at their place what they did to us at our place.

Did we? No. Granted, we haven't played Burnley and Leeds away yet, but we have played Everton, Palace and Forest. We drew with Everton thanks in part to a sending off. Forest was a boring draw, and we handed Palace the win. The other question is, did Fosun really decide that, with 81 points still to play for this season, to give up and prepare for next season? If they did, then that really is a sad indictment of just how far our club has fallen and the ambition of Fosun.

Do any of you out there believe that Rob Edwards is going to get us back at the first attempt? Other Championship clubs are not going to shake in their boots and shout, "Rob Edwards and Wolves are coming." He is not the new Messiah.

You know what happens to them when things start going wrong. Personally, I think he was a poor appointment in the first place.

25 Feb 2026 14:20:48
I think we were already down before RE was appointed, because of how long VP was given at the start of the season. However, every game should be a cup final. It might not produce enough points, but at least there should be a few wins.

Next season will not be easy at all, whoever is manager, but I'm not convinced it should be RE. I also don't know who would want the job, who is the steady pair of hands needed.

25 Feb 2026 14:27:33
For what it's worth, I always thought Rob Edwards was a typical Jeff Shi budget appointment, which would achieve nothing more than cementing our relegation, and so it will transpire at this rate.

Do I believe that even with the right players he will achieve promotion? No, I don't. As long as Fosun maintain their current approach to owning a football club, when we go down we'll stay down.

AcleWolf, already down before RE was appointed? Surely you are not serious. There were 27 games and 81 points to play for. But if Fosun, and indeed RE, thought that, then, frankly, they deserve everything they get, and we, poor fans, will be the ones to suffer.

26 Feb 2026 11:21:34
Yes, Good, I'm serious. And, you make a good point about the amount of games and points left - I don't disagree with you there at all. It's the fans that suffer, but also the staff who may need to be made redundant at the end of the season, and who aren't millionaire footballers. Losing to Burnley was the big moment for me. This was followed by keeping VP a bit longer, and then by going for GoN to come back. We were down as soon as that happened, because it seemed the owners had given up hope at that point.

It's all ifs, buts and maybes, but had we brought in more top flight experience in the summer, not given VP the stupid contract extension, got rid a couple of weeks earlier, and found a manager with the steadiness to keep us in touching distance in January, there may have been a chance. The problem with a relegation fight is this: every week that goes by without a win, the more wins in a row you need to stay up, and there comes a point, quite quickly, when it isn't realistic.
