Seen the game last night, played well up to a certain point, but the defence, is shocking. Toti has got to be dropped. The guy is a walking disaster, plus how do you make him captain. He's not up to the job. Give
It to Andre or play Krejkci and give it to him. Playing 2 in MF is not helping. Wolves got overrun by West Ham.
Why not play a 3? Andre
Munetsi and James make it more solid. Drop Mane and bring him on later till he learns when to pass and when to shoot or take a player on. He's not there to try and do everything on his own. He has to learn. CP has some thinking to do because letting 8 goals in 4 matches is not going to get you promoted.

I agree about Mane. He needs time to learn, and using him off the bench will take pressure off him and help him learn his best role in the side. I have noticed he does not head the ball in a challenge, and takes up bad positions when the opposition are on the attack; this is meant to help.
He will have a big future in the game. I have no doubt.

I don't like Toti in the lineup, but Toti wasn't the reason for the goals.
West Ham goals:
1st - A worldy, but maybe Andre's fault for not closing quicker.
2nd - Andre's fault.
3rd - Lucky deflection off Djiga.
4th - Probably Sa's fault because he didn't come out to grab the corner and allowed the initial header. Sa is always awful with aerial corners & crosses.
If you watch the game and don't watch the goals or score line, we actually outplayed them overall. At about the 30 minute mark, the announcers commented on Wolves being more likely to score first.
Of course, I knew we wouldn't, as they jinxed us with the comment.
I expect Virginia to be in goal for the next Cup game, and if that goes well, maybe start seeing him in League if Sa can't improve. I think Virginia is the long term plan and hope to move out Sa in the January window.
I'm not worried about the loss. I think it can be good to lose sometimes as it keeps the team focused to improve.

NJWolf, Toti is the captain, where's the closing down? The guy is, or has been, a liability for 2 or 3 seasons now. He needs dropped and sold. Wolves have better CHs than Toti, simple as.

I see Sa has seemingly taken Hwang's place as the go-to guy to blame for losing games now, then? In what realm was any of last night's result Sa's fault, exactly? The first goal was a thunderbolt from a player who Toti was absolutely ball-watching on the edge of the area.
The next goal was an entirely unnecessary and stupid challenge from Andre.
The third goal was an insanely fortunate deflection off Djiga as he went to block the shot. I'm seeing some say Sa was too far off his line, which is absolutely ridiculous and shows that those people have not played much football and even less played in goal. The only way he could have been closer to his line is if he was on it, which would have been terrible positioning for anything other than a very flukey deflected shot!
Then, for the last goal, the WHU CB is being marked front and back by Raul and Bueno, yet still wins the header without competition! Think about that for a second, we have two men marking one man and he still wins the header, and that's Sa's fault how exactly?! Our corners have generally been terrible, and they need to improve very quickly if we are going to get anywhere.
Seems like some on here (not aimed at you NJ) expect Sa to be some sort of magical entity that can magically claim every cross regardless of what the rest of our defence is doing? I suggest one or two try playing in goal sometime, because there seems to be a distinct lack of reality on what we are expecting our keeper to be able to do. More than that, let's see what the rest of the league's GKs are like this year, shall we? Cause I suspect Sa will be one of the better keepers in this league, time will tell. ?

Well said, BB. Sa is not the issue in my opinion either. I won't be harsh on Djigga, as I think he is still finding his way a bit, but Totti has to be dropped; he is out of form and needs a bit of time on the bench. Andre had a bad 10-15 minutes in the first half, giving the ball away cheaply and conceding the penalty. Up front cost us dearly last night in the way they had no composure, shooting from all areas but the right one, and holding on to the ball too long instead of picking a simple short ball to a player.
There wasn't anything between the team, really, in my opinion, but we caused our own problems with bad decision-making in clinical moments. Hopefully it was a bad night at the office that will put right.
On a brighter note, Santi, Kreji, and Hugo are all still at the club. Belegarde, Rafiki, and Trippier all to come back in, and the 2 new lads from yesterday. Hwang, Sasa, Hoover, Johnstone all off the books, so for me it's onwards and upwards.

Dmac, I don't want Toti playing unless absolutely necessary, so I'm not defending Toti overall, I just don't think he was at fault for the goals we gave up. If I blame him at all, it would be on the 3rd goal deflection.
Toti may be considered out of position when the ball was passed from Bowen to the goal scorer, but I would have to look again at the positioning of all the other defenders to determine that.

I think Totti has an issue around his lack of reaction to positioning and the ball. He may do a better job out at lb, maybe, but in the centre he causes us issues. His reaction to the 4th goal was slow and lethargic; they should never have got to the second ball.
