It was a frustrating performance last night but I’ve seen some people completely write off Peixoto and this squad already. One game in. You’d hope there’s lots of work still to be done, on and off the pitch. We’ve got 45 games to go, one result won’t define everything.

You're right, Simon. Lots of work to be done on and off the pitch.
Unfortunately, it should have been addressed earlier.
Hope this manager won't be gone by Xmas.
Or be hailed as saving us from the drop.

Not sure about writing anyone off but I do think that yesterdays performance needs to be a reality check for the club and fans! Blackburn finished a point above the drop last season, in a league where 3 out of 4 of the teams below them were given point deductions of some kind. In short Blackburn are only in this league through a technicality and let's be honest we struggled to get a draw agaisnt them at home, with our blushes saved by a last minute penalty which probs shouldn't have been given (as in it was outside the box).
The manager needs time so I'm not blaming him but the back line which started last night simply isn't good enough! I am starting to wonder what dirt Toti has on Fosun because how that guy even starts is beyond me?! How he gets to wear the armband in a defence where Kieran Trippier is the only genuinely quality player is nothing but absolute insanity! Did anyone see Trippier with his head in his hands after being subbed, I bet he's already starting to question his decision. Seriously what is it that three managers have seen in Toti to justify him having the armband cause to be blunt all I see is a mid table League One CB! The first goal was entirely his fault, he should have bulldozed his way through to win that header but instead he's nowhere near it. The second gaol whilst not his fault, Wolfe also needs a reality check as defensively he spends far too much of the game ball watching. However, the second goal still only happened because Totis incredibly poor headed clearance! Honestly of the five in the back line last night only Trippier looks like a top 7 Champ player.

The rest look like squad players at best and until we address that all we are doing is setting up yet another manager to fail I'm afraid. Yes there are lots of games left to go, but if we defend that badly agaisnt one of the worst teams in the league then we are currently seasons away from a genuine promotion push.
C'mon Nathan, you were so quick to tell the fans forum that we were going to bring the players we needed in. These next few weeks are going to show the true direction of this new Chairman. Either he gets the players we need across the line or he (sadly) proves exactly what so many of us have long been saying. Which is that Jeff wasn't truly the problem, he was simply the face of the problem. The true problem is an ownership group that has lost all interest and don't really care provided the club is self sustaining and not dragging the Fosun name through the mud. Only a few weeks left and I very much hope I'm wrong but so far this window has been very under whelming. Yes Raul and Trippier are quality players, but two good signings simply isn't even close to being enough for rebuilding a team which came stupidly close to breaking the record for worst team ever in the Prem last season! Words are cheap Nathan, it's time for you and Fosun to put up or shut up! COYW ?

Sadly, Simonandlaura's criticism of the Club is spot on.
We have had literally months to prepare for this season, and his point of "there's lots of work still to be done, on and off the pitch" is an understatement!!
With the season started, scrambling around for signings at this stage is gross mismanagement.

Things will hopefully improve, but changes have to happen fast. I don't like to single players out as the problem, but I have to say Totti and Mossie are both a liability at the back. Totti is too slow in possession and doesn't have the footballing brain to be anywhere near a captain's armband; it's a very strange decision. Mossie, for all his endeavour, is a loose cannon and not the type of player we need. I was hoping he would move on in summer; he lacks discipline and at least once a game he is acting like he has been shot by a sniper.

That being said, what choice do we have if Santi and Kreji want to leave? Personally, get rid of them and get some fresh blood in. If Villa want Kreji, 35m and Mings would do me. It's a long way to go and we know it's going to be up and down, so let's hope we get the players we need. Sa should be put back in goal too; Bentley is not commanding enough to add to an already fragile centre of defence.

Good thread.
Agree with the direction of travel - as most on here and the other sites I visit do.
