I am not sure what the best course of action is with Rob Edwards as manager, surely it should now be based on performances and results. If Fosun have no interest they will just allow everything to deteriorate further, if they do I think we are in real danger of struggling in the Championship.

We have to finish this season in a positive way, we have seen in recent seasons a poor finish gets carried over to the next season.
There is also another problem, who would be crazy enough to become our manager, this is probably why we have Rob now, nobody else was daft enough.

I think Fosun want to get Wolves out of the Championship at the first opportunity. The problem is I don’t think they have the ability to do it. Mendes got Wolves out of the Championship and into Europe. As soon as Nuno left and Mendes ran out of top players to send to Wolves the downward spiral began.

Wolves are now a monumental mess. Fosun seemingly don’t know how to run a football club. Jeff Shi was a clueless, arrogant man who would have stayed at Wolves for another twenty years and watched them disappear into obscurity.

Fosun definitely no longer want to put their own money into Wolves - hence the dilapidated stadium, amateur Women’s team, training facilities that haven’t been touched for years, and a youth system that could lose its elite status if, in the very near future, Fosun fails to invest. Wolves recruitment is mostly bloody awful. This season it has been catastrophically bad.

Wolves are currently a Premier League club, but it is being mismanaged by amateurs and chancers. It will soon be back in the Championship with more than £200 million of debt and half a squad - the players no one else wants. Whether Rob Edwards is good enough or not is almost immaterial. I don’t think he is good enough to manage Wolves, and he’s the final reminder of the disaster that was Jeff Shi, but the real problem is Fosun.

NaN Good post, I think your right that at the moment it really is (sadly) somewhat irrelevant who's in the job. Essentially it feels like RE has been hired to simply turn the lights off after the relegation. What happens from there is anyone's guess, but not holding my breathe going off Fosun negligent record! ?

NameandNumber - excellent post - the latest of several I believe!
After posting about it for the last 5 years - yes if you had the willingness and, without being rude, the intelligence to see it, it has been screamingly obvious what has been happening for several years now - I have pretty much run out of the energy and enthusiasm to keep pointing it out.

However astonishingly you still get Fosun apologists on social media and numerous posters spouting ludicrously optimistic stuff both about prospects on the pitch ( promotion is a given - opinions fair enough! ) and even more ridiculously the clubs finances.

You regularly see posters telling us that Wolves will be able to blow everyone out of the water as the richest club in the championship but as you identify it will, unless Fosun decide to invest a hundred million or so, have crippling debts and additionally a totally out of control cost base way in excess of even the most optimistic estimates of income.

Clearly, given that as a result of this appallingly weak financial situation Wolves have/will sell most of the first team squad - or at least the decent ones - it is hard to say how Wolves will perform next season. It will though require a better transfer window than Wolves have seen in most of the windows over the last 5 years just to stabilise the club in the Championship let alone push for promotion. Sadly even after the three sales this January it will also have to be done with a negative net spend of well over £50m!
Consequently I am far from certain how so many posters come to this view!

Thank you, BullysBoy II and thefutureisoldgold3. I appreciate your kind comments.

I have in the past tried to be positive about Fosun and where Wolves is headed as a club. Sadly I now feel that there is very little to be positive about. Fosun is just not very good at running a football club. They spout nonsense about sustainability and how Wolves must operate within their means, when in truth what they actually mean is Fosun will no longer put their money into the club and they will saddle the club with massive debts.

My biggest fear now - a fear shared by many Wolves fans - is if Fosun don’t wake up very quickly, Wolves will end up in the same **** state as Leicester.

Well Future, Newcastle are the richest club in the PL, but that's not everything, they are barely in the top half of the table. Won't help Wolves being the richest club in the championship either as you point out.

We will need a lot of things to come together, not just money, if we are to get promoted again and to avoid becoming the richest club in League One again.

The sad part of course Deep is that whilst some posters seemingly believe it Wolves will not be anywhere near the richest club in the Championship.
The definition of "rich" is surely that not only you don't have massive debts but you actually have money to spend!

I still do wonder why we are the last and only club still owned by a Chinese company and an ‘investment’ one at that!?

Why have they not cut their losses and sold us on?

What’s the reason?

There are articles from December 2025 which say people are offering to buy Wolves from Fosun but they are not selling.
Not sure how far the talks went and if the amount of money to be exchanged was brought up or just a general inquiry.

The sad thing BosWolf is that Fosun should have seen the writing on the wall, and sold us when the Chinese government pulled the plug on further investment. Ironically Fosun could have made a great profit at that time as we had just been promoted to the PL when China started restricting capital outflows.

Fosun paid about £30mil for us with a further £10mil dependent upon promotion. Peanuts! Sure, they signed a few gems such as Jota and Neves etc in the championship, but would have secured handsome profits on these players if the club had been sold then. Why didn't they sell? I don't know.
