Wolves hold an interest in bringing in both Nick Pope and John Ruddy to the club. Ruddy in a role to support the HG quota.

A lot will depend on Jose Sa and Sam Johnstone being shifted on first.

Rated Rko, mate, why do Wolves want Pope hes worse than Sa and Johnstone hes absolute crap. Newcastle fans have wanted Pope gone for ages, Wolves should stay well clear.

10 Aug 2026 09:48:52
Might be ok in the champ.

10 Aug 2026 10:59:01
Doesn't matter what league he plays in he's still a liability.

10 Aug 2026 12:35:07
Well said.

Unless we sign some amazing homegrown player, we should keep Sa and Bentley.
Vitek would have been a good option, but he has gone to Boro though.
Johansson would have been a good option, but the longer the window drags on, the more likely Stoke will go no chance.

We are wasting time and energy on positions that shouldn't need changing.
We need x3 cbs.
Two CM.
X3 forwards.
Not long left. Take the loss on the players left; still have £70m to spend from the last two transfer windows and without parachute money being taken into account.

10 Aug 2026 13:58:25
Madman, I like your enthusiasm, but reality states there is no chance Wolves won't spend that. Even if they sell, they still will not spend that amount.

The money that is now being bandied about in the Premier League is ludicrous. Can't ever see Fosun paying that sort of money again, hence we may never compete in the Premier League while these owners are here, unfortunately.

Dmac, you're obviously on Crystal Meth if you actually think Pope is worst than Sà & Johnstone..???

10 Aug 2026 16:03:19
I must be on meth as well then cause I'm pretty sure Sa is better than Pope. Not sure about Johnstone cause he's always injured!

10 Aug 2026 16:07:39
Very well said, Smeghead. How many Champions League games did Pope play last year? He's not far off 400 professional games, but apparently anyone within five yards of a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale thinks he's rubbish.

Today, he might not be good enough for Newcastle, but at one stage he absolutely was, and for Wolves in the Championship, he'll be a brilliant signing.

I sometimes think there are Baggies fans on here trolling.

Look on the BBC hys whenever Wolves play. The amount of West Brom trolls on there spitting bile is embarrassing.

10 Aug 2026 17:37:06
Well... I'd rather play without a keeper than keep Bentley. How the ! he passes for a goalkeeper, I don't know.

10 Aug 2026 17:42:45
Sa better than Pope, are you on the wind up? Pope is a much better keeper.

10 Aug 2026 18:11:39
In an ideal world, Tg, I would have sold most the squad.

The issue is, they are a massive risk for another club to take a risk on.

We need to look after ourselves. Changing the goal keeper is not a priority in my opinion. We say Sa you are our number 1 and Bentley back up. We sell Johnstone to who ever needs a homegrown player. We sign Ruddy anyway to keep the homegrown quota up, and he sets levels in the squad.

I didn't say we spend £70m. We set some key targets to build a competitive squad so we aim to get promoted and to stay up.

Arrey-Mbi
James
Andre Luis

Should be star signings.

Then I would sign Alleyne, Patrao and Varela on loan with obligations to sign next summer.

Other cheaper options, Braga from Hearts could do a job for us.

Casares from Gil Vincente to play alongside Andre. An enforcer who knows how Cesar wants to play. Webster or Veltman as experienced cb's like Saiss and Bennett in our last promotion.

We need more pace, I'm bored of saying it but still haven't signed any at CB, CM or forwards with pace not strikers.

We should be laying it on a plate for Raul and Armstrong this season.

I don't trust Mosquera, Toti, Doyle, Traore, R Gomes (sorry mate but I don't) and Hwang for another season.

These are decisions that should have been made straight away. Not 3 weeks left of the window. I don't trust the club to sort it out after last summer they failed miserably.

My preference would be for Sa to stay, with Bentley as back up. Not a fan of Johnstone; he is very weak on dealing with crosses, of which there will be lots in the Championship. If Sa is sold, then we have the Levski Sofia keeper being scouted. The second leg of their Champions League qualifier is tomorrow. If they win, then he probably stays. Pope is an option; again, his distribution is poor and, despite his height, he doesn't command his box from crosses.

He shared Newcastle duty with Ramsdale, who is second choice after returning to Southampton. He is only 26, and has shown in the past what a good keeper he can be. Okay, a West Brom fan, but he is a professional footballer and that shouldn't be an issue. Plenty of players have played for both teams in the past... too many to mention. I don't want Bentley and Johnstone to be our only options, as neither inspires me with confidence.

10 Aug 2026 21:02:07
Fosunproject, I have to disagree with R Gomes, he's a willing runner and the only option we have with any pace.

10 Aug 2026 21:33:36
He is, and I would have him part of the squad.
My point is we can't rely on him to play 30+ games.
We need strength in depth...
As the others, I would sell.
There have been a few seasons now we have relied on certain players, and injuries have affected our season.

My list was just some of the names that we haven't always been able to call upon.
