Reports have linked us with Alexsandro Amorim. Not heard his name branded about but is a similar type player to Joao Gomes (not my rumour just one I’ve seen).

Apparently a goalkeeper is on the verge. Some reports suggest Joao Virginia (I seriously hope not).

Lyon have also pulled out the race for Zetterstrom.

Jordan Holsgrove has been linked also. Doesn’t seem like a progressive midfielders but could be a tidy player ?. Does he get in over Lopez, Andre, Munetsi, Doyle at the moment?

What are your thoughts on these links?

I'd be a bit disappointed if the best we can get in are Amorim and Virginia. It just shows all we've waited on is Mendes to throw us a few players, and Matt Jackson and Nathan Shi haven't done any actual planning with the recruitment team. If they come in as squad players, fine, but when players who are Championship-ready like Jordan James and Radek Vitek are still available, they have to go and get them, especially when you consider how they keep saying play-offs aren't good enough.

We've made a lot of money in the last few windows, they need to go out and get top sensible targets.

Fosun needs to FO. In the meantime, the entire recruitment team needs sacking.

So, from your comment, I take it that you're not happy with Trippier, Raul and Said coming to the club?

I don't actually understand why so many fans are pant-wetters. The window doesn't close until the end of August. West Ham have bought one very cheap player, it's the way it usually works. Clubs move later in the window.

Signing Trippier and Raul is huge, and means we have one of the best right backs and CFs in the league. More signings will follow. Some people need to chill out and find something else to take up their time.

QS, who is going to make Fosun FO and also sack the entire recruitment team? Any ideas? Fosun came in ten years ago as White Knights after Morgan was sort of hounded out. A decade of good times and bad times followed. But, it's fixable, and Fosun are the only show in town until they've fixed it. When it's fixed, they can sell it.

Do the decent thing and sell the club - that's what they need to do. You expect me to be delirious by getting in a couple of 35-year-olds and a winger who is now out with a season-defining injury? I have said many times before on this site we take three steps forward and ten steps back, and, until we have proper, bona fide owners who not only seek proper progression for the club but compete against the cheats and liars, we will continue to support a below-average club.

TG, we have 0 players capable of stepping up to the Premier League. We've signed Raul and Trips, who won't feature in the Premier League. This is our opportunity to sell dead wood and bring in some decent players who can develop this season.

There's no transfer strategy.

Just hope Peixoto can transform the remaining players like Nuno transformed Helder Costa, Ivan Caveleiro and Romain Saiss etc.

Wolfoftheeast, I appreciate your long-term thinking, but I don't think we should even be thinking about getting players in, ready for the Premier League. We aren't going to walk this league.

That sort of thinking will end in disaster. The squad needs proven Championship players before we even think about a return to the Prem. We shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. This season will be a slog.

It's dangerous just preparing for the Championship, Tgwolves.
There are players available to prepare to play an attractive style of football, and set the foundations for the next 5 years.
Obviously some of our players are still away after the World Cup, so there should be movement soon.
But 3-4 experienced Championship players, like Trippier, Armstrong, Bentley, and Doyle, are helpful. I'd sign another experienced CB, as I think you need that experience in the winter, like we had with Ryan Bennett.

The forwards are normally quick, young players from around the world having a go. But it would be good to sign one youngster with pace from England, and 2 like Andre Luis or Patrao to link with Raul.
I think our squad will be strong, but it's more the style I want to see an improvement in, ready for the Prem, but also so it's enjoyable to watch again.
Nuno was very successful in getting the fanbase buying into the style of Wolves, with the 343 seen as our style from the start 1950s.

I agree in many ways, but I don't think planning for the Prem should be our main focus. Take Sunderland, for example. Their squad was nowhere near it after winning the Play Offs, so they essentially ripped up and started again. They brought in lots of new faces, and it paid off. I'm not suggesting that's the best approach for every club, but I think we need a squad for here and now, with a few quality additions capable of making the step up.

The Nuno Championship side is never going to be repeated; most clubs have to invest heavily when they go up. I'd be content with us being around the top and competing come January, investing in the squad with added quality when the window opens.

Bentley and Tommy Doyle are lower-league team players at best. Doyle couldn't even get in a Brum side that finished in about 10th. We need a much better number 10 to compete in the Championship. Maybe Fer Lopez, Edozie or Mane.
