Relatively speaking, £6mil is no money at all if he flops. On the other hand, if he's a great success we exercise the option in the summer and sell on for big money. If his form is somewhere in between he could be a great asset in the championship.

Maybe the lad is maturing and needs to find his current natural level, just wants to get back to Britain and is happy to take his chance with us, or any other reason.
