Why the Football Feels So Sterile Under Peixoto
Slow, Risk-Averse Build-Up:
Peixoto relies heavily on a structured 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 setup that prioritizes keeping the ball over breaking lines. Against Championship low blocks (like Portsmouth), it turns into "U-shaped" possession—passing side-to-side between the center-backs and full-backs while waiting for individual magic rather than coaching actual combination play in the final third.
No Overloads or Late Runs:
Unlike modern high-intensity coaches, Peixoto's systems keep the rest-defense strictly balanced. The full-backs rarely commit high enough to create genuine 2v1 overloads on the wings, leaving wingers completely isolated.
Over-Reliance on Individual Moments:
Without clear patterns of play, the team relies almost entirely on talent (like Fer López or Jordan James) pulling something out of nothing rather than systematic chance generation.

yes totally agree.
I have said to people before that he is no good tactically. He is unable to change the game using tactics and just hopes that the subs made come up with something special.

Who is good tactically these days ? If you have to make five subs every match I would sugest you're picking the wrong team. Most substitutions are made to waste time or to keep players happy and has very little to do with what's happening on the pitch, hardly any subs are used for their original intent of replacing injured players. "Tactical" subs ruined the game years ago, breaking up the game and spoiling what used to be entertainment, subs should only replace injured players and players subbed off should automatically miss the next game, fans pay to watch the best players available to their Club, not to watch half the team replaced by second string players during the game, that's why they all became squad players instead of reserves and are allocated a shirt number so they don't have to win one, as the advert goes.Games gone.
