I read this somewhere else and I wanted to get opinions on if this is true.
If Jeff Shi had convinced some Chinese company to give Wolves £20 million for the shirt sponsorship, the FFP people would have stepped in and said that it was too high and market value was only £6 million and not allowed it.
Does anyone know if this is true?

Not heard anything about that bit I do recall that the season we went up under Nuno, Fosun had negotiated an exclusive deal to stream all Wolves games in China on a Pay Per View deal.
Aston Villa, Leeds and QPR all complained saying that it was unfair that Wolves had an overseas revenue stream and therefore the club either share the proceeds or stop the deal.

So how does Wrexham get away with what it's doing?

I doubt if the authorities can actually prevent sponsorship deals simply because they look inflated. Citeh just rode a cart and horses through the regulations for a decade or more. Nobody tried to stop them at the time even though suspicions were regularly raised.
If we backed down simply because Villa, Leeds and QPR complained, then more fool us, we were obviously bluffed! There's nothing in the regulations banning overseas revenue streams, unless in due course it is discovered that those revenue streams were inflated by bungs from China (in our case). It all comes down to the concept of perceived market value of any sponsorship or revenue stream.
