I did feel sorry for Solbakken. He knew he had to overhaul the squad and was allowed to bring in 7 players. We started that season really well, but unfortunately 6 of the 7 signings got injured at roughly the same time and were out for a considerable amount of time. He was then forced to use the useless players from the disappointing previous season, and, true to form, they proved that they were not up to the task.
Ultimately, without the players Solbakken signed, we slid down the table and ended up sacking him. Deep down, I feel that had those 6 players remained fit, we would have been pushing for promotion.
It reminds me of Graham Taylor in the 1990s when he lost Stowell, Thompson, Froggatt, Daley, Thomas and Bull for approx 2 months together, and the replacements were clearly not up to scratch.

Yes, the soon-to-be named Bomb Squad let Solbakken down. Dean Shambles followed, and, like Rob Edwards, wasn't able to stop the rot. Thankfully, Kenny Jackett got us together again.
