Congratulations to Aston Villa. Well deserved victory, and they have the support of our future King to boot. But to think, we were pretty level with them not long ago, and now there is a chasm between us.

Jeff Shi has a lot to answer for. He blew it, basically. At least Nathan Shi admits this, which is the first step to recovery, but the road will be long and winding.

Not just Jeff Shi. We have been in decline for 7 years, and Fosun did nothing. The jury is still out for me if they ever will.
They allowed Shi to continue even though the consequences were blindingly obvious to those that give a damn.
Yes, we'll see plenty of activity this Summer as we head for the cheap seats, but I still question what happens if we do get promoted back to the Prem.

Will we see a resurrection of the policies that failed us previously, or will we see Fosun actually learn from their 'mistakes' and take more interest?

Unbelievable.

The Europa League and Conference League have now become trophies for Premier League clubs. It’s not something to celebrate. It’s a sad indictment of what has happened to football.

Too many of the European teams entering the Europa League and Conference League are basically Championship-standard teams. So many once-decent European sides can no longer compete against Premier League sides.

There’s no animosity or jealousy when I think of Villa winning the Europa League. The reality is, the Wolves side that got to the QF of the Europa League in 2020 would almost certainly win today’s version of that competition.

It’s a different competition now. It’s almost too easy for Premier League teams.

Next season could see something like 9 or 10 Premier League teams playing in Europe. It’s wrong. How can a team from Germany or Spain, with a £100 million squad, compete against an average Premier League team with a £400 million squad?

It’s not all doom and gloom. If Fosun want Wolves to be an established Premier League team that competes, then Wolves might qualify for Europe and find themselves in the same place as Villa.

The old European trophies were all quality, competitive competitions. Now there's one that's the best and two that are also-ran contests, I'm afraid. No disrespect meant, as I would be delighted at us winning any of them.
