Let him get away? Really? Did you actually see either Trincao or Vitinha play for Wolves? They were s***. Just like Goncalves, who blossomed once he left.

Vitinha wasn't s***e, he was just unfortunate in that he had Neves and Moutinho in front of him, and Nuno wasn't dropping either of them. He played a grand total of 513 Prem mins, which isn't even 6 full games. If we'd judged Cunha off his first six games, he wouldn't even be in the Prem now!
Vitinha has gone on to be one of the best CMs in the world, and the fact we had him working with our coaches for a full season, and didn't think he was worth the tiny £18m fee agreed, is a failing on our part and not his.

The fact that he went to PSG just 12 months later for double the price should prove that to anyone, to be honest.
Trincao is a different matter. He's a handy player, but if I'm honest I'm not entirely convinced he will ever be big or physical enough to succeed in the Prem. So, it will be interesting if Chelsea do indeed sign him. Either way, the £25m fee we had agreed for him was insanity, which was proven by the fact he was sold for less than half of it just a few months after we sent him back.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I get that Vitinha was never getting in the team ahead of Neves or Moutinho, but whenever he did get on, he hardly pulled up any trees. He had 1 good game against Chorley, but other than that, he didn't do much. I don't recall the clamour saying the club should sign either of the players after their loans.

Maybe, he was too young when he came here and became a better player when he returned to Porto. There was also a rumour that he didn't want to play for us in the first place, but Porto insisted on the move. I don't know how true that is, but I did read the rumour a few years ago.

Vitinha was always a good player, but it takes good coaching staff to see the potential and help to develop it. Look what Nuno did with Coady. Shame, no one saw what Vitinha had in him.
