Give me Sport are linking Wolves with a move for Watford's Giorgi Chakvetadze and a loan move for Almiron from Newcastle, which along with the defensive players linked are the club/owners thinking more about the here and now rather than the future?

If they are sane, they don't have any other option, Longmynd.

Defensive reinforcements have to be the priority Long.
For me, we have 2 "average" goalkeepers, Acute shortage of premiership-quality CBs and FBs only suited to a Back 5 set-up.
I would also like a second CF and a decent wide player.
Going to be very difficult in January. Last time, thanks to Hobbs
and Lopetequi, we brought in players like Dawson, Lamina, Cunha, which strengthened us enough to avoid relegation.
I really hope we can find the right sort of "gems" this time, as the current defensive squad is very limited and clearly not good enough at the moment.

Pretty good today, as I have said since October they have had the talent coached out of them by O'Neil and his trumpton team, they are quality premiership players, who just needed a premier quality coach, but I doubt you and bullysboys won't admit it now will you? This should of happened 8weeks ago!

Admit what? exactly OOTD. All I've ever questioned has been the penny shy pound foolish policies of Fosun of late and the sale of our best players while replacing them with kids, the majority of whom won't even play this year.
For two years they've done that and for two years we've had to be 'rescued' from the relegation zone by doing exactly what they should have done in the first place. Yes, I've always felt that GON had been short changed defensively in the summer window and said as much, a fact pretty obvious to all I would have thought and I actually questioned why the club would do that to someone so inexperienced. It's the club/owners that make these decisions, not me, all I do is comment on them.
It was only the realisation that our time in the Premier League would end without change that spurred them on to act. If we had been sitting in 15/16th place now they wouldn't have sacked GON irrespective of what people think of his abilities. Why didn't they strengthen the defence in the summer? Why did they give GON a 4 year contract then keep him on so long, even though the cracks were showing, I'm guessing business before football.
Forgive me, but I'd like to see a bit more ambition shown beyond Premier survival as it's not just about the performance of the Manager and I think I have the right to say so.

Long, the vast majority of Wolves fans, I sense, share your concerns.

Long and OOTD - I think you are both correct. Surely now with the benefit of hindsight no one can deny that GON was given a v v poor hand by the club particularly in respect of his defence. Post after post on here, and other sites, stated the need to replace Kilman (and possibly Dawson - due to his age and injury record) with an adult premier league hardened CB.
Note we all accepted that the fee for Kilman was too good to turn down but it was pretty much universally acknowledged that the return of Yerson alone was not enough!
The club thought otherwise and was wrong!
However as OOTD points out surely anyone who has watched Wolves this season would also have to accept that, even given the very poor recruitment in defence, the defence has been chaotic!
After Brentford, possibly the worst performance I have seen from Wolves in over 50 years of watching Wolves, I asked on here what GON did on the training pitch!
Our inability to deal with crosses - from open play or set pieces - and our inability to stop granting free pot shots from 18 yards or so is astonishing and points to a lack of organisation, communication and even basic competence!
Added to the lack of fitness, (or possibly the headless chicken running that meant that we were out on our feet after 65 minutes or so), we were doomed without a change of manager that probably should have occurred several weeks ago - although as Bully pointed out finding a competent manager to join this circus wouldn't have been easy!
In Jan we still need to sign one or two new competent CBs and hope that Cunha is not banned for more than a handful of games and then pray that the green shoots, and let's not carried away Leicester are equally awful and the scoreboard flattered us greatly, of Leicester lead to a full blown revival and thus survival can be achieved.

Possibly the club were blinded by the initial successful results of GON which led them to question JLos judgement on walking.
This led to a 4 year contract and I confess, along with seemingly several others, that I was glad to see him tied down over the summer! Maybe it then became difficult for Fosun to not lose face by terminating the contract.

The 4 year contract that somebody ok'd kept ofail' in his position, because of embarrassment.
If the higher ups had sacked him when they should have which was Atleast 8 weeks ago, someone would have had to hold their hands up and admit they were wrong to give him that much backing.
Let's hope that the lesson has been learnt.
Stop penny pinching and stop looking to make money from every player's signing.
