Galatasaray are interested in Joao Gomes but want a deal closer to £30m. Wolves are seeking between 40/45m. Everton are also interested in Sam Johnston. One to watch there.

I'm interested in buying a pound coin for 75p - who wouldn't be?
Sadly, as a desperate seller, with a very poor track record of obtaining good prices, clubs will see Wolves as fools who are easy to exploit.
What a mess!

2.) 10 Jul 2026 16:59:47
Name players that we got poor deals on?

3.) 10 Jul 2026 20:15:50
Just over the last 3 or 4 years.
Major disposals such as Ran (mind blowingly bad!), Neves (less than 40% of top-level CMs), Cunha (one of the top players in the league - try and buy him back for less than £100m!), and Neto (disappointed at Chelsea for reasons discussed previously, but at time sold, see Cunha!).

Plus disposals where the club managed to sell players that had turned, or been turned, into damaged goods such as Emmanuel, Podence, Lemina, Guedes, Boly, Coady, and Raul.
Finally, of course, disasters like Semedo, Sarabia, Saiss and Traore, where they left on free transfers at the end of their contracts.

Rafiki Said Done deal just shy of £8m.

Rodrigo Pinheiro is in very advanced talks with Wolves, still work to do tho, and Olympiacos are also in talks and trying to convince player to join them instead. Wolves ahead atm, one to watch. Fee will be around €6million euros. Both Lima and Jackson Tchatchoua expected to leave ⌛️

He is a right back, not a Mendes client. 23 years old, presumably will share game time with Trippier, 35, and then hopefully take over the position longer term.

2.) 13 Jun 2026 14:46:31
He plays left back also.

12 Jun 2026 00:10:23
The rumours of Trippier ripping his contract up are completely false. Player was made aware of the potential of managerial change before singing.

I'm glad we are all on the same hymn sheet. ?

2ndGen: That's one of the biggest rumours posted recently. The Club's been in decline since the day Nuno's departure was announced. Changing one Shi for another has only fooled STH's, who are struggling to justify why they renewed. It's now out in the open that, from CEO downwards, all positions hold no authority within the Club; they've all become untenable, and in any other business would be followed by resignations. We can only hope the decision maker or makers over in China are fully conversant with the ever changing rules of the EFL, as we've seen what's happened to other Clubs with points deductions and all kinds of different sanctions.

If Fosun are intent on retaining ownership of the Club, their next move really needs to be installing experienced football administrators to run their business, the kind of people Shi number one sacked because he didn't understand what they'd done or why he needed them.

3.) 12 Jun 2026 12:12:33
Thats one way of taking my rumour.
Personally as a STH I am not surprised the club have sacked Edwards and nor am I surprised that they signed Trippier and Raul.

We can sit here and say he is a club man and we need to stick by him. But 9 wins in 63 Premier games as a manager is woefully bad.
Do you know his defensive tactics? The defence was the same with the addition of Krejci that finished 20 points clear of relegation under Vitor.

We have also stuck by club men in the past. Sellars, for example, led us down the path of fumbling over Man City academy players.

Also Fosun (the owners you belittle and put down) signed up Raul, Traore, Jota, Moutinho, Neves, Podence, Gomes, Andre and Neto on long term deals that we the fans wanted.

However there is a reality check with the PSR rules that were introduced in Summer 2021. Those rules were to stop clubs like Wolves from continuing to compete with the top teams as Wolves had pre Covid. The sale of these players listed above in either the last year of their contracts or on free shows Wolves and Fosun got the very best, or gave players time like Raul and Traore to regain the levels they reached in 2019-2021.

Look at Leicester, exactly the same club but managed and dealt with very differently to Wolves.
At no point last summer did Fosun say we have no money we aren't signing anyone like Leicester.
We were linked with Pubill, Sanches, Casado, Guessand and Elliott.
Those players chose the path they thought was best. They should have come to Wolves; Pubill and Casado have made the World Cup for Spain.

The trick in football now is to get a manager that has a different style of football that likes to play a back 4. Nuno's style got sussed out, although I love the bloke.

Vitor nor Teti could attract the players needed last summer. We need a coach to attract the players needed.

I think we should go for Cesar and I would like to see some young British players brought in as well.
Arrey-Mbi (Braga-Gestifute player), Alleyne (Man City), Devine (Spurs) and some young attacking players with pace needed.

Lets remember there are Wolves fans that didn't like Vitinha, Trincao, Goncalves, Silva, Guedes, Semedo among others.

Most are playing at the WC.

4.) 12 Jun 2026 13:08:40
Glad to hear it. It would be pushing my limits if Trippier left.

5.) 12 Jun 2026 16:59:56
That seems very odd, Exwolves. Trippier was definitely influenced by RE. He said he was the reason he signed. Where did you get that info?

6.) 12 Jun 2026 20:30:32
Every new player says the old line, 'I felt a connection with the gaffer.' It's what everyone wants to hear. He was just being professional, in my view. He would also know that if Wolves started off badly, then RE would have been sacked, so I don't buy this rumor.

7.) 12 Jun 2026 21:02:46
Didn't realize Trippier was a singer. ?

8.) 12 Jun 2026 21:52:02
I hope so exwolves. I hope so.

9.) 13 Jun 2026 11:41:34
2ndGen: It was ten years ago they bought the players you mention, bought their way to the Prem, they sold them all as soon as they forced Nuno out, and, over the next six seasons, bought & sold their way to the Championship. If that's not mismanagement, then what is? In ten years they've achieved absolutely nothing, back where they started, and now with a Head Coach who doesn't know the League, who seems to have been appointed over the head of the Club's CEO.

Other Clubs have had Chinese owners, they all failed, ours are still failing. We all want Wolves where we belong, we deserve better, Fosun won't turn the Club around, they've done too much damage, re-signing Raul might keep the fans happy for a while, but the next crisis will never be far away.

10.) 13 Jun 2026 14:26:21
Kieran Trippier is reportedly happy with the situation and all the rumours have been confirmed as fake.

11.) 13 Jun 2026 16:38:46
I love these discussions in preseason.
Ron it's your opinion and that's fine.

***These are approximate values from TransferMarket. They would have been slightly more with agent fees etc.***

Also the players fee may have been paid the following summer from when they joined due to us signing them on loan with obligation to sign.

This is leaving out Jackson Tchatoua, Wolfe, Tolu, Arias, Fer Lopes and Krejci signed for £100m.

The total of each season are:

Season Spent Received Net Spend
2016/17 £30m £2.5m –£27.5m
2017/18 £21m £4m –£17m
2018/19 £61m £16m –£45m
2019/20 £99m £27m –£72m
2020/21 £73m £57m –£16m
2021/22 £21m £43m +£22m
2022/23 £118m £55m –£63m
2023/24 £74m £83m +£9m
2024/25 £45m £100m +£55m
2025/26 £23m £54m +£31m
TOTAL £565m £441.5m –£43.5m

That total is really important to watch on the right hand side. As under the PSR rules from August 2021 you could make a net loss of £105m over three years. To fall under the new rules Fosun had to pay a £100m loan they had made to Wolves as the club could no longer have that debt.

Also you can see due to the PSR rules in 2021 the total net spend is well within the new PSR rules. As you say the players were signed over the 10 years. But also our wages went up astronomically especially in 2020-2021 as we tried to keep fan favourites Neves, Raul, Moutinho, Traore at the the club. The wage bill in 2022/2023 was £310m a season!! Alarm bells that's why the club sold Neves that summer and let Moutinho leave.

But the crux of it is even though they made the money they made on the sales of Neves, Cunha, Morgan Gibbs White and Neto they couldn't just spend the same money again as they still couldn't exceed the loss of £105m net spend over three seasons.

The net spend over 2023-2026 is exactly £105m that shows how tight it was. Also the links with other players like Ramos, Vitinha, Trincao, Andre Silva were shelved due to these restrictions. The ambition is at the club but our commercial revenue of circa £210m can't compete with teams in European football. Man City by comparison is around £700m.

So as much as fans point the finger at Fosun. Look at how the league and Var have held Wolves back since we are back in the Prem.
VAR cost us 18 points in 19/20 which stopped Wolves getting champions league football we missed out by 5 points. It's funny how the new PSR rules were pushed forward by City, United and Arsenal to stop us competing with them.

Our swift success has ultimately held us back as the powers of the Premier League grouped up and stopped us in our tracks.

We need a manager that has a style of play that can press something that has changed in the Prem over the past 3 years. We need to move to a back 4 as we are being overloaded in midfield. Whilst also replacing the pace and technical ability lost up front.

I also disagree they just sold players and didn't replace them you could argue J Gomes and Andre replaced Neves and Moutinho. You could argue S Bueno replaced Kilman. You could argue Semedo replaced Jonny. Whilst Sarabia replaced Podence.

Last summer was a farce and I blame Teti and Vitor mainly because I think they aimed for targets that were just too big for a club like Wolves in some respects. And they didn't have a plan B or c. So once Semedo had decided he wasn't signing we should have signed a replacement straight away. They had from Easter 2025 till September to get everything sorted and knew RAN and Cunha were leaving.

12.) 13 Jun 2026 17:52:17
I don't want to piss on your parade, Fosun Project, but you've listed JSL as £25m in the 24/25 season and again as £23m in 25/26. Would this not affect your calculations?

13.) 13 Jun 2026 19:53:57
Bloody AI. ? I added it as I thought it had missed JSL, but also added Hwang as a sale which was incorrect. Win some, you lose some.
It would mess up the numbers a little, but not enormously.
Here's the updated ones below:
Season Spent Received Net Spend
2016/17 £30m £2.5m -£27.5m
2017/18 £21m £4m -£17m
2018/19 £61m £16m -£45m
2019/20 £99m £27m -£72m
2020/21 £73m £57m -£16m
2021/22 £21m £43m +£22m
2022/23 £118m £55m -£63m
2023/24 £74m £83m +£9m
2024/25 £45m £100m +£55m
2025/26 £5m £58m +£53m.

Cesar Peixoto will be the new Wolves boss. Announcement soon. ✅

exwolves

1.) 11 Jun 2026 00:22:59
I'm not a huge advocate for Edwards, but the timing seems strange given that we've already had a month of building the squad for The Championship. Raul's, Trippier's and Andre's extensions link back to Edwards by all accounts. I don't think this is the right move at all. Hopefully I'm wrong.

2.) 11 Jun 2026 00:28:46
Yes mate, this is from Fabrizio: "Wolves agree deal in principle to appoint Cesar Peixoto as new head coach.

Interest reported by O Jogo, now verbal agreement in place with Peixoto to take over".

3.) 11 Jun 2026 06:41:40
It would be a very odd decision if true.
We really don't need this sort of diversion.
Cesar Peixoto's managerial CV is thin at best.

2.) 26 Jul 2025 09:58:12
That only happens to Wolves, we only ones daft enough to allow it to happen. Forgive me for the pessimism this morning, get cheesed off with all the non action, have you seen the report on what clubs have spent so far, Liverpool at the top on something like £300m. Think we are near the bottom obviously, not sure how we can climb the table with the squad we have at the moment, another season fighting relegation I fear.

3.) 26 Jul 2025 10:56:51
As of 1050am today, we have spent €67m.

This is more than:

Fulham 0
Palace €2.3m
Villa €7m
Forest 31m
Bournemouth €42.4m
Everton €50m
Brentford €60m
Newcastle €61.4m
West Ham €62

How much we spent between now and the end of the window is anyones guess and who we buy is unknown but surely something has to happen soon.

4.) 26 Jul 2025 11:34:19
Spent more than I thought Wandering. Keep forgetting as well Larsen is in this summers spending even though he been here for a while.
Realistically, what are people’s expectations on transfers in and out? How many, and who moving out and who we could sign, see if I can feel more optimistic ??

5.) 26 Jul 2025 14:01:32
Thing is Banksy every player we've been linked with on the clink bait reports have gone else where, which makes me wonder how serious we are in recruitment, so either we've got some surprises to arrive, or we're going to try and make do. The pubill incident sums it up really.
I just hope we've no more outgoungs bar the obvious and even then it'll leave us light.

6.) 26 Jul 2025 14:40:04
I thought and hoped this summer would have been different Abbeywolf, unfortunately it is looking very similar to previous seasons. All of the players we were initially linked to have, I think moved on.
Unless the likes of Sasa, Guedes, Hwang are staying and can contribute and play a part we look very light to me. Who is left as back up in midfield, as you say, we have to hope things are being worked on we are not aware of ??. Perhaps they are trying to sell before buying, at the moment it is not looking good.

7.) 26 Jul 2025 14:50:42
I agree all. Trouble is we are not currently in a position to attract great players. We need to at least finish mid table for rolling seasons for a cheeky promise that we could play in Europe soon.
I hadn’t realized we were in front of other clubs Wandering - nice update thanks.
In my eyes we need enough good players to cover injuries/challenge for each position and that includes goal keeper, which very few mention!

8.) 26 Jul 2025 14:54:29
Abbey. We can't compete with what we've got so far. Not if we get a series of injuries anyway. We need a RB/RWB maybe LB/LWB someone to replace Cuhna and hopefully another striker. Just hope we can offload some of the deadwood like Fabio to help with new acquisitions and hope Shi keeps his word!

9.) 26 Jul 2025 15:17:39
Completely off topic.
Does anyposter on here know about the whereabouts or wellbeing of one of our previous posters JAS M.
I always found his posts very interesting and informative

10.) 26 Jul 2025 16:01:47
More meaningless statistics Wandering! Is it relevant what other clubs have spent? What matters is what additions Wolves bring in before the deadline as our future Prem status may depend on it!

11.) 26 Jul 2025 16:43:41
47Vintage. I was pointing out to a poster who thought the club hadn't spent any money that they actually had. I wasn't posting a stat, I was posting a fact. Let's not over analyse everything.

12.) 26 Jul 2025 18:58:52
Nick 1960, Jas M decided to have a rest from the rumours page quite a while ago. He had his personal reasons along side some unfair remarks on the site I believe, but like you his common sense and enlightening post are missed by me too.

13.) 26 Jul 2025 20:03:49
Abbeywolf, you should do an analysis and see if we lose more transfer battles than other teams or if most teams only sign a small fraction of their targets.

14.) 26 Jul 2025 20:49:32
Jas M as well as Phil789 are missed. Hope they are OK.

15.) 26 Jul 2025 21:23:04
Thanks for the info Abbeywolf regarding JAS M.
I would like to reach out to JAS M
Please let us know how you are and let's have you back on board posting about our beloved club
