Wolves have reportedly been offered former Barcelona centre back Samuel Umtiti. Recently released by Lille.

Wolvesrstyngup

1.) 02 Sep 2025 22:46:57
Do we need a 7th Cb though, especially one that will want big wages and is usually injured?

2.) 03 Sep 2025 00:23:09
if they play krecji in midfield, yeh

3.) 03 Sep 2025 09:02:04
Why would they Hangman? Do you also think that Pool wanted to sign Guehi to play in midfield, no you don't cause it would be mental to spend good money on a CB to play in Midfield wouldn't it?! Too funny ?

4.) 03 Sep 2025 09:17:57
If better than the current crop obviously yes but is he?
if he has been released by Lille is he good enough?
I'mafraid I have to leave that decision to Vitor and his coaches.
BB I acknowledge that Wolves have 6 CBs in the squad but
Yerson is v injury prone, Doc should be done, S Bueno isn't good enough, Emanuel appears lost, Toti needs help and can't play otherwise and the new boy is new - and apparently, according to some at least, is going to be covering DM as well.
Perhaps the resources which on paper appear adequate are in fact a little thin?
Sadly you can do the same analysis for pretty much the entire squad though as after 5 years of managed dismantling it is now both weak and shallow.
Hence the gloom and doom and "realistic" views re its prospects in the poll on this site.

5.) 03 Sep 2025 09:37:13
Absolutely no chance. He played 185mins of football last season whilst getting paid £70k per week.

We've got 6 CBs and Doherty is bottom of the pile and I'd rather see him play.

Besides we're already one man over the overseas allocation, we need to lose a player!

6.) 03 Sep 2025 09:38:26
I understand your analyse of said players TFG and don't entirely disagree. However, VP has clearly made a conscious decision to keep all of those listed above (to be honest I'd expected Mosquera or Bueno to be sent out on loan). But the very fact they weren't suggests that he thinks they can bring something. Also with this don't forget that he stated (like virtually EVERY Fosun era manager) that he wanted two players for each position. It would seem that they started at the back and didn't even make it to the midfield mind! ??

7.) 03 Sep 2025 10:16:02
Get him in on a pay as you play basis.
If he turns out ok, offer him a 1 year rolling contract

8.) 03 Sep 2025 10:27:36
BB - I hear what you are saying and of course you may well be correct. I hope not though as it would certainly make me concerned re his judgement of players given all the evidence over the past season or so that clearly showed the shortcomings in the squad.
However I am not so certain if it was a conscious decision to keep the players he had? Maybe he simply couldn't get the players he wanted in or equally and just as importantly he couldn't get the players out he didn't. {All within the constraints of the market and finances}
Standing still doesn't always mean you are happy where you are just that you can't/didn't move.
ps It appears Molineux has given a pretty clear answer to my original q of if he is good enough!

9.) 03 Sep 2025 10:38:22
The only free agent that I think could offer us something is Hakim Ziyech, but that would give us the headache of finding a loan destination for Sasa AND either Santi or Mosquera.

10.) 03 Sep 2025 11:51:13
After my meltdown on Monday I do feel like the squad can get through this and stay up.
They have replaced Semedo, RAN, Cunha and Sarabia with Jackson, Wolfe, Arias and Lopez.
They have also kept Gomes, Andre and JSL .
I agree I would have liked a CB, CM and FW to come in but it wasn't to be.
First team
Sa
Agbadou Krejci Toti
Jackson Gomes Andre Bueno
Tolu Arias
JSL

There is plenty of competition in the squad. Can see Doc playing a major role actually. But I think he will push the defence and may be the captain come the end of the season. The defence is more competitive than last season.
Bellegarde and Marshall will raise the stakes in midfield challenging Gomez and Andre.
From losing Silva, Sarabia and Cunha we have got Tolu, Arias and Lopez.
We need to give Vitor time as I think he can keep us in the mix come the end of the season its a marathon not a sprint. Out of darkness cometh light

11.) 03 Sep 2025 14:41:04
Madman
I agree with your line up if playing 3 at the back.
If playing 4 at the back I would go
Sa
Jackson agbadou. Krejci wolfe
Andre
Lopez. J gomes arias
Tolu. Larsen

Any thoughts gents?

12.) 03 Sep 2025 16:56:43
Nick, I like the idea of 4 at the back which would make the midfield stronger and having 2 up front would help to occupy both opposition cb's.
Agbadou at the back just now is a worry so I would play Doc until he gets his head together otherwise agree with your selections.

13.) 03 Sep 2025 17:27:11
4 diamond 2;

jackson, agba, toti, bueno
krejci
lopez, gomes
arias
larsen, arokodare

14.) 03 Sep 2025 17:50:23
No one picks Yerson?

15.) 03 Sep 2025 18:51:23
Nick, I completely agree. I worry with a back 3.
I'd love to see the 2 big guys in Tolu ( dodged the surname spelling lol ). and JSL.

When sasa and jsl played together albeit for 15 minutes, they gave west ham huge problems

16.) 03 Sep 2025 20:14:14
TFG I like Mosquera and think he's capable of being a TOP player. However, it can't be ignored that he's yet to complete a full three months playing at Pren level without having an horrific injury! Fully fit and injury free I'd pick him most times, I think the problem is that he's still coming back and I suspect the club are (understandibly) scared of risking too much to soon and getting another season long injury. Cause let's be honest one more and it will be pretty career ending for him at Prem level. With that in mind I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him loaned back out abroad as its the only time he's stayed injury free for a full season. Maybe the Prem is just to quick/physical for his body to handle? ?

17.) 03 Sep 2025 20:55:42
A few points I think Krejci has been signed to challenge the defence and his distribution is a step up from Doc and Toti.
Doc brings a lot of experience and he would keep them organised.
TFIOG maybe it will be Tolu and JSL with Arias in a no 10 role.
Theres loads more options and less players going through the motions like some were 4 weeks ago Agbadou, Hwang, JSL, even the midfield now Bellegarde and Marshall have practically been assigned that role?
The issue we have had is Andre and Gomes are having to play CM and attacking flair players that Cunha, Neto etc have played recent seasons. Maybe Bellegarde plays next to Andre. With Gomes further forward.
Time for some of the others to build relationships thought the Hwang goal the weekend was class from the Jackson cross.
Maybe r Gomes is the answer as well as a wide forward against certain teams as he has the technical ability.
It's not over and we can't let some fraught feelings over Fosun not back the team.
But Jeff we have our eye on you and Fosun.

18.) 03 Sep 2025 23:57:58
We probably won’t be signing Tanganga. I see him going to CPFC. Especially if they appoint Jose mourinho

19.) 04 Sep 2025 08:14:48
What is the obsession with Tanganga?

01 Sep 2025 20:03:24
Wolves are reportedly an option for Dele Alli. Recently released by Como, thoughts?

Wolvesrstyngup

1.) 01 Sep 2025 21:12:31
Desperation personified!

2.) 01 Sep 2025 21:37:43
Keep on trying

3.) 01 Sep 2025 22:08:58
I'd put my dog at no 10.

4.) 01 Sep 2025 22:45:33
Very disappointed fully back the team and club but this must be the worst window under Fosun.
Jeff do you have any reasons and answers for this?
The penny has dropped into the championship.

5.) 01 Sep 2025 23:08:24
So Pedro Lima has gone to Porto on loan as well. Now I get that he's young but that now means between Lima and Dijiga we've spent £20m on players to play for other teams! I have no problem investing in the future I'm just not convinced that as a club we have the squad numbers or the transfer budget to do it?! Can anyone honestly tell me that £20m wouldn't have been better spent on a AMC or even high end loan (e.g. Grealish etc)?
I really just don't understand our approach at times, let's just hope that VP does eh! ?

6.) 01 Sep 2025 23:44:27
i think you’re all missing the point, krecji was bought to play in midfield and a back up to toti . if he really is that good infront of a back four, this solves the problem in itself . you know that’s how they were thinking .

7.) 02 Sep 2025 01:10:57
I think your missing the point, he hasn't played in midfield for over three seasons! He was bought in to play cb and if he wasn't then we might be in bigger trouble because our defence is truly woeful!

8.) 02 Sep 2025 01:33:31
you don’t really think anything when the aliens get ya, it’s just a time thing

9.) 02 Sep 2025 10:50:04
BB - I am not certain but I think that if Lima had stayed at Wolves or anywhere else in England/Wales he would have qualified as home grown - 3 seasons in England before 21 - but now he won't!

Given the importance of that classification and the obvious shortage of homegrown players in the squad either Wolves have given up on him and don't expect him to be around post 21 or they have made a monumental error!

10.) 02 Sep 2025 11:05:34
So much for uncle mendes being involved, what did he do?
Couldn’t he supply us with an attacking midfielder
It’s going to be a cold long winter

11.) 02 Sep 2025 11:11:01
Dele Alli from Como? Didn't Perry Como have a big hit with Catch a Falling Star? Maybe Dele has fallen too far.

12.) 02 Sep 2025 12:07:54
Haha, great minds TFG (please see my post re:Lima on the Banter page). As you say it does seem like an odd decision and a missed chance. But also as I said (in the other post) I suspect the choice of Porto may well reflect that Lima is struggling in this country? ?

13.) 02 Sep 2025 13:31:37
the biggest problem, as someone stated, is Mendes lack of involvement with each passing year . if it’s because of his relationship with jeff shi then I suggest they replace him ‘coz we can’t stay in the premier league without mendes .

14.) 02 Sep 2025 14:41:57
Not sure that's in anyway true to be honest (re:Mendes). Other teams manage just fine without relying on just one agent to run their transfers. This is the same Mendes that made us sign Guedes, Fabio and Podence on HUGE wages despite not a single one of them wanting to be at the club?! In fact when we signed Podence the club had previously agreed a deal for Dani Olmo (now one of the best in the world) and between Nuno and Mendes they cancelled it to go with Mendes client (Podence)! The same Mendes that has recently been blamed for crashing a number of decent deals because he wanted a bigger cut?!
We don't need Mendes, we need an independent DoF who's established enough to stand up to and when needed work with Mendes!

15.) 02 Sep 2025 20:10:42
Not sure of our official squad total, but we are very close to the maximum number of overseas players. I’m sure if we were able to attract an out of contract player (Josh Brownhill would still be my choice), we would find a way of creating space in the 25. I know many were unhappy that he was allegedly asking for a huge signing on fee, but that is the name of the game and something all four of contract players do. It basically equates to a transfer fee and as such £10 million, is not a bad price for an experienced player like him.
Is Hoever considered a home grown player. He came through the youth ranks at Liverpool but I don’t know if he did three years before he was 21.
If we are going to continue with a back three, one of them and almost certainly Krejci, is going to have to carry the ball into midfield in order to break the lines. Our inability to do so was painfully obvious against Everton. They, in contrast, did so with consummate ease. Additionally we had nobody capable of switching the point of attack until the introduction of Fer Lopes. Or running past players until Bellegarde came on.
I haven’t seen the stats but I am pretty sure over 50% of our possession was happening with all even Everton players behind the ball. I, for one, really struggled to see what it was we were trying to do.

16.) 02 Sep 2025 21:16:51
Wolfthistle I think we've already got a decision to make, pretty sure we're at 18 overseas but only 17 can be registered. No problem with homegrown, we've only got 5.

I've watched Krejci a lot and bringing the ball out from defence is a big part of his game, I suspect Toti and Agba will play either side of him.

Wolves have agreed a deal in principle to sign Genk striker Tolu Arokodare. Deal worth about €25 million, he wants the move.

Wolves are also reportedly trying to sort out the details to sign Hayden Hackney. Bid has been submitted, and the player is interested in the move. Availability on tomorrow's game against Sheffield is currently unknown.

Both are likely to be Wolves players by the end of the window.

Wolvesrstyngup

1.) 29 Aug 2025 23:06:21
If we actually get Hackney I will be chuffed. We should have ventured into the Championship yonks ago. Would love it if we pulled this off.

29 Aug 2025 17:39:41
Wolves are reportedly making 'steps' to sign Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney. The Championship side are reluctant to sell him, but Wolves have tested their resolve with a £20 million + £10 million bid. The player is said to want a Premier League move and is welcoming the move. Wolves are currently leading the race to sign him.

Wolves are reportedly considering a move to sign Japhet Tanganga.

Wolvesrstyngup

1.) 26 Aug 2025 21:51:45
Definitely not, we're about to sign krejci how many cbs do we need at the club?

2.) 26 Aug 2025 21:58:44
Not in Milwall squad today.
Thought Mosquera did really well tonight in first outing for a long time. Needs minutes to get up to speed. Looks controlled defensively and a threat from corners. Good display from Santiago Bueno as well.

3.) 26 Aug 2025 23:36:36
Tanganga was an absolute nightmare at Spurs, totally out of his depth in the Prem (back then). When he wasn't getting sent off, he was wildly out of position! Has he improved enough, I'm not convinced? Mosquera is a FAR better cb but that means nothing if he can't complete a full season without a horrific injury!

4.) 26 Aug 2025 23:44:02
Tanganga? He's gash. We have an abudance of centre backs and a new one set to join. We need to focus on bringing in an attacking player to play alongside Arias.

5.) 27 Aug 2025 00:04:33
Still need a CB it let us down last season with injuries.

Yeah, we really need Japhet Tanganga now

Wolvesrstyngup

1.) 04 Sep 2025 08:09:26
Explain. And then confirm how exactly he'll be able to play for us considering the very clear rules stating that a player can be registered with 3 teams between 1st July - 30th June, but can only play a competitive match for 2 teams. So considering he's played league games for Millwall and Sheff Utd, what is the point of signing a player who cannot play for us until 1st July 2026 at the earliest.

2.) 04 Sep 2025 08:15:24
Obsessed with Tanganga!

3.) 04 Sep 2025 10:30:37
I would say we could with Ericsson now.
Can we afford him?
Would he be value for money?
If he gives us cover, bolsters the team with his experience and encourages the team unity with his spirit I'd say undoubtedly yes.
Give him a signing on, pay him a wage or prem survival bonus, whatever, he could be our key.

4.) 04 Sep 2025 11:10:59
I agree Abbey, of all the names mentioned the only two I'd be keen on seeing are Erikson or Ziyech, fingers crossed eh ?

5.) 04 Sep 2025 12:01:45
Erikson and Ziyech could both do a job for us, Eriksen probably as cover for CM as he's not the quickest anymore, and Ziyech in the 10 role.

The only problem is that we are already one player over the overseas limit and signing either of them would make 2 over giving us the headache of finding a loan destination for 2 players. Sasa or Hwang AND either Santi or Mosquera being the most likely

6.) 04 Sep 2025 13:43:46
Ericsson would be great to get in.
He may need a sign on fee, and wages that might use the owners dictat. But considering where we have been splashing £10m's and £20m's he could be very good value in where we stand.
So.speculating .£2m sign on?, £100k week?. So even for a full year (unless negotiate on appearances etc), what's that £7m.
Gotta be worth it and a try.even if a bit more.
.in my view of course :))

03 Sep 2025 22:36:30
Wolves potential January move for Japhet Tanganga has been called OFF.

Crystal palace are considering a swoop, if they manage to sell Marc Guehi in January. Palace will try to figure something out. Best chance for him to sign would be if Glasner leaves and mourinho is appointed.

Wolvesrstyngup

1.) 03 Sep 2025 23:15:51
Have to be honest I don't really understand this obsession with Tanganga. He was an absolute liability at Spurs, he was also reported to have a £1-2m release fee at Millwall so why exactly would any half decent run Prem team wait for him to go for buttons only to sign him three months later for ten times the price?! It literally makes no sense at all! Not having a go at you gup just can't see how/why these rumours are floating around for a player who has moved mere weeks ago? Just weird ?

2.) 04 Sep 2025 06:05:27
I don't understand why either. He wouldn't be able to play for any other team except Millwall or Sheff Utd until July 1st 2026 at the earliest. But as you said a few days ago, you have info that UEFA and the FA are willing to change the rules for this one particular transfer?

3.) 04 Sep 2025 08:16:23
They're not rumours though are they!

4.) 04 Sep 2025 10:14:38
Gent's I think woivesrstyngup is a wind up merchant with his constant blabbering about tanganga

5.) 04 Sep 2025 11:10:13
Agreed Nick and to be honest Sevlow I was trying to be polite buddy ??

6.) 04 Sep 2025 14:19:04
He absolutely is a wind up merchant, got no sources at all just posting random information he's plucked from thin air

7.) 04 Sep 2025 15:55:30
All made up nonsense. Tanganga, Alli. Pretty sad tbh.

24 Aug 2025 21:15:05
Wolves should try to sign Raheem Sterling on loan. Would be so fun. Still training in Chelsea bomb squad, great move.

Wolvesrstyngup

1.) 24 Aug 2025 21:54:49
I mentioned this a few weeks ago and as long as Chelsea agree to pay the majority of his wages (he's on £350k a week) then it's a no brainer. Vastly experienced League winner, in a World Cup year with a lot to prove.

2.) 24 Aug 2025 22:37:13
He could barely get a game at Arsenal, they were paying 50% of his wages. I'd prefer Chilwell from Chelsea but he comes with baggage and wants to stay in London.

Sancho or Antony would be better but again wages too high and again they wouldn't come here anyway.

3.) 25 Aug 2025 07:02:25
So no to a 4 times PL Winner with 123 goals in 396 games, but yes to Sancho or Anthony?

4.) 25 Aug 2025 09:32:07
No to all of the above as they are all wishful thinking, none of them would sign for us.
But hypothetically correct, no to the 30 year old Sterling who last season played 1, 143mins with 6 goal involvements, and yes to 25 year old Antony - 2, 539mins and 15 goal involvements or 25 year old Sancho - 2, 426 - 15 goal involvements.
Sterling is finished and yet Chelsea are still after £20mil for him even though his market value is £8mil. p.s. Antony's value is £30mil and Sancho £25mil!

Ladislav Krejci is still expected to sign, but if not we should sign the gift that comes with Ivanovic (Millwall striker), Japhet Tanganga. Solid centre back, over 50 Premier Appearences and has a £1.2 million release clause only available to Prem clubs. Move to Sheffield United is not complete, he would choose us if we moved for him. Thoughts?
