OK Cuhna you made a bad decision. Stay with us now for a better league position 25/26.

Stretton

1.) 22 May 2025 08:02:48
Happy that Spurs won and surprised didn’t see that coming, what happens now at Man U, all these signings they are making including Cunha, surely they don’t have the funds. Not sure how much it was worth, the way they have been carrying on almost sure they would win. No Champions League, shame, so Cunha off to a club at the moment, in a worse position than us, makes the decision seem more odd now.

2.) 22 May 2025 09:08:50
Fosun buy to sell, they don't ask players what they want to do.

3.) 22 May 2025 10:32:22
They asked Adama to stay, he said no. They asked MGW to stay, he said no. They asked Cunha to stay, he said no. Maybe they did ask the players what they wanted to do and they said they wanted to leave so they were sold. Kind of blows your theory out of the water.

4.) 22 May 2025 11:47:56
Wandering, Fosuns publicly stated policies on transfers of late are buy to sell.

Adama had said for several years he wanted to run his contract out and leave on a free, MGW left for an offer Wolves wouldn't match and he couldn't refuse and Cunha wants trophies something Jeff Shi has also told the fans to forget about.

How many players have Wolves sold for a large mark up who had no ambition to leave, Kilman and Neto spring to mind.

5.) 22 May 2025 11:50:12
If any player wants to leave they are correct in my opinion to let them go, that is, under the best circumstances and price for the club, not sure this ever happens. Guess players have seen enough sometimes at our club and decide the grass is greener elsewhere, not sure Man U is greener, certainly not at the moment. Personally I wanted Cunha to give VP more time but guess he heard it all before from Lop and GON. No problem in players leaving at the correct price if they leave for whatever reason. Does anyone think Cunha will make the team on Sunday for a fond farewell?

6.) 22 May 2025 11:54:53
Pretty sure I remember reading that Jota pushed for a transfer too Wandering. And not forgetting the M. Nunes, saga. But of course these facts don't really fit with the Fosun bad narrative.

7.) 22 May 2025 12:12:37
If all these players pushed for a move surely the question is why? They all must have believed they can do better elsewhere both in financial and footballing terms.

8.) 22 May 2025 13:15:30
Correct Long, why did these players push for a move, likewise now Cunha, he believes, or so he wants us to think, that he is leaving to achieve more success at Man U. Are we an attractive club to achieve the desired success for players, for some it seems not. Is this due to our management, I would rather keep top players so we can improve as a club, in order to achieve this we have to make our gaff more attractive so they want to stay, unfortunately this seems unlikely any time soon.

9.) 22 May 2025 13:37:48
The answer to that is, having heads turned by offers from the perceived big clubs, fueled by a rumour mill that links almost every half decent player at any 'less glamorous club' with the big 6. The trophy cabinets of Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U. Indicates they can do better in footballing terms at these clubs, and we certainly can't compete financially either. Oh and I'm fairly sure Neto pushed for the Chelsea move too.

10.) 22 May 2025 13:42:12
It is financial. Jota, Kilman, Neves, Neto and Nunes all tripled their wages overnight. Cunha is currently on £90k a week but Man Utd have allegedly offered him £200k per week.

11.) 22 May 2025 13:51:38
OK let's just say we know that Fosun asked those players to stay and they all said no, none of us can honestly say we know that BTW but let's just say they did. Shouldn't the question then be why are they all saying no to staying? Cause I don't see Villa, Forest or Newcasltle having that problem, do you? In fact quite the opposite where Villa have gone a step beyond and are now convincing TOP players like Rashford and Ascencio that they are a good choice/bet! If players with ambition consistently want to leave our club or in your terms 'saying no' shouldn't that OBVS beg the question as to why?! Look at MGW, he was a local lad and he still wanted to leave to go to a club who at the time were struggling FAR more than we were, again ask yourselves why?! Is it not a fairly obvious logic to apply that if ambitious players don't want to stay at our club it is because THEY think that we lack ambition?! And why shouldn't they think that, as Jeff said HIMSELF if you want to win trophies then don't pick Wolves!?
You can even reverse engineer this question, how did we sign Champs League players despite playing in the Champ?! Simple because we HAD ambition! Sadly that train left the station with Nuno! ?

12.) 22 May 2025 14:07:37
Everything is Jeff Shi's fault. Let's all live in the past. Maybe we should break the bank and pay the players whatever they ask for and enjoy a couple of good seasons until they age and slow down and are past their best. We'll then have no money to buy any replacement because we're bankrupt.

Good point about Rashford Bullysboy. The only issue is that Man Utd were paying £150k of his £225k wages. Villa have come out and said that they can't afford to pay him the same money that Man Utd do.

13.) 22 May 2025 14:50:01
I think you're misquoting Shi a little. He actually said "If you only pursue trophies or consistent European football, Wolves might not be an ideal choice." He also mentioned the short term, and the context of that quote was towards fans, rather than playing/coaching staff. Although an ill-advised thing to say, I don't read it as Fosun's mission statement for the long-term future of the club.

14.) 22 May 2025 14:58:46
At the end of the day, and generally speaking, good players who are persuaded to sign for Wolves, see us as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Fact. We can be thankful for the ones we manage to keep, and then rinse and repeat.

15.) 22 May 2025 15:18:16
Who's fault is it then Wandering, is it the numerous managers we've had that have all complained about a lack of ambition? Or maybe it's the coaches or the cleaners fault?! And why is it just our club that has theses issues with finances, cause again Villa don't do they?! In actual fact I think you'll find that Villas (ambitious) model has seen them post record profits, almost like their model is working and ours isn't? They are playing for Champs League footy whilst we seem to be playing for Championship footy, guessing they must be playing by a different set of financial rules to us?! You say about Rashfords loan but that's VERY common, I think you'll find we paid most of Fabios wages whilst he was at Rangers (again Villa showing us how it SHOULD be done)! Also Rashford may still sign for them but even if he doesn't I suspect they will get someone decent!
I feel like I'm going crazy here because the league doesn't lie does it gents and in the last three seasons we've spent most of our time at the bottom end of the table, that's just bad luck as well is it?! So you tell me if it's not Jeff's fault who's fault is it? Cause I can tell you now that if ANY other chairman regularly posted the financial results that we do then they would not still be in a job!

16.) 22 May 2025 15:35:59
At present it does seem as though we are a stepping stone, as you say Deep to bigger clubs, I take your point as well Wandering, big jump in wages to move on, didn’t realise the difference. Guess we all get frustrated and would just like some success, let us hope for good business over the summer.

17.) 22 May 2025 15:40:39
Absolutely Deep the question is why aren't we one of those better things after 9 years of Fosun's ownership. We have multi billionaire owners who rode into town with their big plans but we have just scraped through a relegation battle, why?

18.) 22 May 2025 16:24:23
Long, I guess the answer is lack of real ambition, fierce ambition. The Forest owner has it in spades. Villa owners have it. Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth, ditto. Heck, even the Birmingham owner has it, not to mention Wrexham. It's not just money alone, or Man U would be in better shape. Fosun had it with Nuno but gradually lost the plot. Time for a new ambitious owner to take us forward and to thank Fosun, at least for the seven years in the PL.

19.) 22 May 2025 16:53:01
Bullysboy. Remember what Everton, Villa and Chelsea did last season. They traded players amongst themselves to circumnavigate the PSR rules.

Like you say, everything is Jeff Shi's fault. I guess I'm a glass half full kind of person. I fully acknowledge that he's made mistakes but whilst he's the custodian of the club and we're in the Premier League, I'll remain optimistic.

20.) 22 May 2025 17:05:57
When we won 6 on the bounce, everyone was happy and all was rosy in the garden. We lose 3 meaningless games and suddenly Jeff Shi needs to be hung, drawn and quartered.

21.) 22 May 2025 18:08:19
Again though Wandering buddy, Everton, Villa and Chelsea are using the same rule book we are aren't they? So who's working the system better excatly?!
And c'mon fella, you can't honestly read that entire thread and in good faith pretend this is JUST a reaction to a bad month? Let's not chose to be naive here please, like I said it's been almost four seasons now that we've flirted with relegation and been saved by virtue of having worse teams in the league and you know that as well as I do fella! ?

22.) 22 May 2025 18:11:17
Not to be hung, drawn and quartered just yet Wandering. I do think this summers transfer activity is crucial, as it always seems to be, if they can achieve good business which keeps VP happy then, I hope, we can improve next season. All ifs and buts, time will tell I guess, we seem to be linked to everyone at the moment, I don’t want Elliot from Liverpool though at £50m. We can just hang Jeff, drawn and quartered not necessary just yet. ?

23.) 22 May 2025 19:21:03
I give up. Let's just draw a line under the Jeff Shi argument. It's getting repetitive and boring.

24.) 22 May 2025 19:28:51
Wandering : They wait 'til a player has been offered better terms elsewhere then make them an offer they can refuse, see Semedo's new take it or leave it offer is on the table.

25.) 22 May 2025 20:08:42
Christ. The posts on here are so negative, just because we've lost 3 games in a row. We lost against MC away and I still have nightmares about Bellegarde missing that sitter otherwise that might've been a different story. Brighton are out bogey team and really once I saw the starting line up for our match against CP that was always going to be difficult. We have a lot of very good players who want to play for Wolves, but we also have a few who either don't Guedes, Hwang, Cuhna, Fabio or aren't good enough Sarabia is a good example. Quite simply we don't have enough quality in depth. That's not Fosun's fault. It's the previous Managers who signed them. Guedes £27.5Million, Fabio £35Million, Sarabia small fee but 90K/wk wages. Fosun have supported the managers, but what we've bought has not been good enough. We're still suffering from the season when we bought Fabio, Guedes, Semado for high fees and wages and only Semado has worked out. We even wasted £10 Million on another GK, Johnstone and where is he? Hopefully this summer we can get rid of this deadwood and bring in some quality additions. I'm confident Wolves will have a good upcoming season with VP.

26.) 22 May 2025 20:34:40
To be honest regardless of how much any of us like working at our current job, if someone came along and said we will pay you three times as much to do the same job for us, you would all take the money. Footballers are no different, they have loyalty, but they also have common sense

27.) 22 May 2025 20:54:26
Give us some examples please Ron Moore.

28.) 22 May 2025 21:25:00
Rincewolves. Well said and absolutely spot on. Players come from all around the world and are traded by their agents who also want to make money. Why wouldn't a player move if another club is stupid enough to double or triple their wages. It's a massive risk to that club also. If he doesn't work out and it's possible, Anthony, Sancho, Rashford then trying to move them on again becomes extremely difficult.

29.) 22 May 2025 22:15:59
No games are meaningless. Every spot higher in the table means more millions in prize winning from the league. Every spot higher in the table makes it easier to sign talent.

30.) 23 May 2025 10:43:14
I think it was on here that someone said the difference between winning and losing against Palace was about 9 million in terms of league positions, so yes each place is important.

31.) 23 May 2025 10:47:55
It's an untyable knot that everything above is a tangled in. How do we straighten it all out? Well one thing maybe continuity, which we havnt had manager wise, knowing what the ends are, fosun show little ambition, the tightness, players not on comparative wages, the holder, what alliance and security is there to the club, and, looks, how do we compare to other clubs in appeal? The foreign guys have grown up with man u Liverpool arsenal Chelsea etc on their tvs in Europe or Cup finals with players of international acclaim, big city clubs location wise. Wolverhampton Wanderers are an unknown to them, but offered a place in the prem they'll go to where they'll get a step in the door, so loyalty is hard to breed, they'll be grateful to us but won't is it in their interest to stay.
Maybe fosun recognise this, utilise this and cash in, they are investment company, perhaps that's why Jeff says we're not a club for trophy. If that is the case then we must curb our expectations, be glad to be in the prem and watch players and managers come and go.
I'm a member, pay me dues but this year I'm seriously thinking of not renewing if its to be without hope.

32.) 23 May 2025 12:59:45
Be nice if we could achieve a top 10 finish and have a competitive season beating some of the bigger teams, return to a season like under Nuno. I think this is the best we can hope for, I loved those days when we had a chance against any team. Sorry to hear Abbeywolf that you may not renew, I am the same tbh, used to go a lot more than I have done of late, still watch and follow when I can. Old geezer now at 51, think my dad first took me when I was 8 or 9.

33.) 23 May 2025 14:05:55
Alot older Banksy and only watch tv or listen these days, but always paid me membership as I feel I should put in, but it feels a little like fosun are taking the money and not giving us hope in return. My conscience will make me pay up in the end I'm sure.

34.) 23 May 2025 17:52:16
Interesting thread. My view is that this summer's trading could define this club for the next few seasons. With well thought out purchases, we can build what VP wants. Add to that a clear out of the disinterested and u derperforming and we can create some financial good sense and deal with the past errors. Promote those who who show skill and desire. We could have a pack. Easy to say but so important now!

35.) 23 May 2025 18:43:42
Well, I complain that Fosun are not showing enough ambition but the fans on here definitely are ambitious. We've tasted highs and lows in the seven Fosun years in the PL. Compare this to the three-year struggle in the PL under Steve Morgan, followed by that double drop. We've signed top players that we could never even dream of signing under Morgan in a million years. We are a viable destination for top players wanting to play in the PL. We now have the best coach since Nuno. A reset of priorities by Fosun could easily take us to the next level, such as top eight next season and candidates for Europe. If Fosun haven't the stomach for the ride, look for a buyer.

36.) 23 May 2025 19:02:01
Supported this club through thick and thin and will continue to do so. Let's not forget the absolutely fabulous players we have seen grace our pitch courtesy of Fosun.
Neves, Jota, Jimenez, Cunha etc etc. 10 years ago that would have been a dream.

37.) 23 May 2025 19:40:10
Good points Deep I think the fact that Fosun started so well and yes, took the club to the next level, raised expectations and why not given what their stated ambitions were.

Something changed, however, was it the Chinese Government pulling the plug on the money supply, was it Covid and it's affect on their business or did they just become disillusioned with the sheer cost potential of European football and buying players, some of whom just haven't delivered?

Like you, I think after several false starts Manager-wise we do seem to have the real deal again. VP has already proved his worth and he needs 'looking after' as a minimum.

He will not expect a bottomless pit of money to spend like some but he will expect the club to get him the type of players he needs for the positions he needs, he will do the rest.

If so, I see no reason why after a full pre season we can't re-establish ourselves as a top half regular. If not, well let's just wait and see.

38.) 23 May 2025 19:42:07
I agree Wimbornewolf big summer ahead. Good business will be crucial to our future, it will also hopefully satisfy VP and allow us to climb the table. All being well no threat of relegation and it would be nice to keep the same manager throughout the season. Do people think Cunha will play and receive a fond farewell?

39.) 24 May 2025 07:56:00
No and definitely no, Banksy and I imagine that, "Champions League, your having a laugh" will be echoing round Molineux. On the other hand, Semedo will get a rousing send off.

What a poignant observation. Fosun have thrown three managers under the bus, spot on. Currently I am with VP albeit I am very concerned with the current situation. I wish Fosun would treat us as what we are as the lifeline of our team with the support we offer and bring us on board by sharing direction. Guess a lot to ask from the only Chinese owned team left in the premiership. They don't feel or understand our passion and history. Point is they come and go. we stay we always will.
