No Saiss in the squad. Money being made for the Draxler deal ;)

MattWolf

1.) 30 Jan 2021 14:40:38
He's been carrying an injury for the last few games which was why he didn't feature against Chelsea even when Ait Nouri went off.

2.) 30 Jan 2021 14:56:05
I was only playing old wulf.

I thought I posted this on the other page where I had made a tongue and cheek comment about Draxler being available on the cheap.

3.) 30 Jan 2021 18:13:26
Saiss maybe going to Liverpool? No, I don't believe it either, but it's out there!

4.) 30 Jan 2021 21:00:51
After today surely we have to bring at least 2 more players in. Moutinho can't start against arsenal, been unreal for us over the last 2 season but he looks so lost atm.

5.) 30 Jan 2021 21:27:44
Sadly I don't see anyone else coming in. I think the issues are more tactical than personnel though.

6.) 30 Jan 2021 22:21:12
Wolverhampton Moving company have moved Saiss north west.

7.) 30 Jan 2021 23:45:26
Draxler, now there's a thought that could get me to sleep despite the memory of today's game.

8.) 31 Jan 2021 08:03:16
From what I've read PSG are listening to offers and open to him moving to the prem. His deal is up in the summer so he'll be cheap (relative to his true value) and he's on about £100k pw so doesn't break our wage structure. A player like him (or him) could transform our side. Massive 24-48 hours (not sure when the window closes) for us.

I have always been Nuno in (even after West Brom) but after yesterday's performance, more than the result, I am for the first time questioning that.

If Fosun bring in someone to drive our midfield forward I think we can get out of this mess and Nuno will stay and if he wants to be here can take us forwards next season. If not, I fear for Nuno. Our next 3 matches are really tough and the gap to the drop could be very small putting huge pressure on our "winnable" games.

I think it's back him or sack him time, which kills me to say.

9.) 31 Jan 2021 08:47:28
I agree, Nuno has lost the plot, this run is terrible. He has no idea, there is no spark in the team. We need a change quickly.

10.) 31 Jan 2021 16:14:01
And sais is injured. So stop spreading pathetic garbage.

Good job we threw away the cup game resting players for today.

Good morning my fellow Wolves.

It's game day so as always I am very excited. I fancy us today even without Podence. Willian the Brazilian to get himself off the mark too!

I have an interesting topic of discussion to put to the group. Loan signings.

I'm sure we all agree that if the season was over now we would all exercise the option on Willian the Brazilian. But what would you do with Vitinha and Ait Nouri?

If we exercised all options that's a £60m spend leaving us little to no transfer budget. Even spending that may mean we have to sell someone.

So my question to you all is simple. You can only keep one Vitinha or Ait Nouri, who do you keep and why? Or would you keep neither? Or both (if so tell me why) .

My personal view, I'd keep Ait Nouri. I think he is an upgrade on Vinagre and will surpass him. I think his defending will improve given time and could prove to be a real asset.

Vitinha I like, but I'm not sure he's a number 10. I see him as very Moutinho like and given we are crying out for a box to box power house I don't think he'll ever fit that bill. But, I fear he could go on to be a world beater and we'd regret letting him go.

So that's where I am, Ait Nouri, just. Interested to hear all your views!

1.) 07 Feb 2021 10:06:23
I honestly think its to early to say. This is a strange season and wuth so many injuries having happened we haven't really seen that much of any of them.

2.) 07 Feb 2021 10:18:46
Hi Matt, I would try and keep both, as they both have potential, Jose a must to for me, can't wait for him to link up with Raul, perfect partnership, but that maybe next season, as I hope they give Raul, this season to recover, and make sure he's hundred percent, even tho he is desperate to play
3-1 to day Jose hatrick 👍.

3.) 07 Feb 2021 10:48:00
Absolutely not Ait Nouri for me and I personally don't see him as an upgrade on Vinagre. If you want Ait Nouri as an attacker, maybe but he cannot defend.

Look at the pen he gave away at Leicester and the poor way he nearly cost us a point at Brighton. He has no defensive nous or presence which is a problem for a defender.

People say that Raul has been the reason we have dipped in our performances and results but equally Jonny has been a massive loss for me. Losing both wingbacks has affected our style of play big time. Losing our focal point just topped it off.

4.) 07 Feb 2021 11:13:11
Don’t really see too much to get excited about when matchday rolls around, we’re on coarse to finish in MM’s favourite position (17th) made terrible decisions weakening the squad in the last two transfer windows and are extremely fortunate there are three teams below us in the table, imagine just where we’d be iif we hadn’t caught Arsenal and Chelsea at the right time, ten points worse off, so in real terms we’ve only taken sixteen points from the other seventeen teams, this season can’t finish soon enough for me.

5.) 07 Feb 2021 11:24:36
Thanks for the debate guys. Grey, interesting view, just playing devil's advocate, if keeping all 3 meant no other summer business without selling would you still keep them?

Statto, I hear what you're saying mate. I think our wb/ fbs struggle as they don't get much support. If we played a 4 with a midfield 3 of dendonker, neves, OO that could protect our fbs and give us energy in the middle. Of course then you sacrifice a number 10.

Ait Nouri has has glimpses of what he's capable of and at only 19 I think that's worth building on.

Any more views?

6.) 07 Feb 2021 13:10:43
Matt v good q
Jose surely is a yes as we needed a back up CF last year and didn't get an adequate one. He looks like he is perfect. He seems from his early minutes good enough to play, (whilst it was obvious from the first few minutes that Silva wasn't) instead or as well as (in a 2) Jimenez.
With respect to the other 2.
We haven't seen enough of Vitor which tells you that Nuno is a "no" but strangely what we have seen I think has been promising.
Maybe try to extend the loan or play him more in the dog ends of the season to decide. Also let's see if a more realistic fee can be negotiated if we are going to take it forward - certainly no more than £10m with add ons and preferably less.
The market is not where it was (and we are paying) and we need to make our counterparties aware that we are no longer the last fool standing
RAN guess it depends on Vinagre and Marcal. If either Marcal is gone - ie always injured - or Vinagre doesn't get sold he might make a 3rd/ 4th if you count Saiss choice.
However obviously not at £20m. Renegotiate to a modest fee £3m with add ons if he develops and you might think about it.
However he is hopeless defensively at the moment and can't be considered as first choice at his stage.
So yes Jose but probably no on the other 2 unless serious renegotiations take place or they perform far better in the last few weeks of season.

7.) 07 Feb 2021 16:32:14
Good shout future, thanks for getting involved. I think if the fees could be negotiated and halved I'd maybe keep them both. I would hate for that to be our only business in the window though!

8.) 07 Feb 2021 17:47:51
Well it was a great q and an interesting thread so thanks to you Matt.
Having watched today and seen Vitor left on the bench again it doesn't look good for him
Jose was also a bit disappointing - his lack pf pace really showing - so I might have been a bit optimistic there too.
However I think he is as good as we will get for a back up unless we are willing to gamble on a player from the Championship or from one of the relegated teams.
But who at SU, WBA or Fulham would you even consider?

02 Feb 2021 07:48:01
So the cards have been dealt and we are where we are.

What do we need to stay up? 35 points 36? More? I said in a previous post back him or sack him praying for the former. But here we are.

I still love him and I want him to get it right but tonight is huge. We're almost at the point where results are all that matters but, for me,

MattWolf

1.) 02 Feb 2021 08:05:06
On the bright side we surely can not play as poor as we did agaisnt palace,

2.) 02 Feb 2021 08:56:47
Trouble is Phil, when your on a bad run, things go against you in a match, no matter how well you play, all I want is for us to put a performance in, if we lose so be it, but show some fight and passion, all the team.
2-0 to us, Jose double 👍.

3.) 02 Feb 2021 09:36:31
Spot on mate a good performance is required and hope we have the rub of the green.
I'm not predicting the result but obviously a win would be most welcome.
I'm happier the match is 6pm kickoff rather than 7.45/ 8pm/ 8.15pm kickoff.

4.) 02 Feb 2021 11:10:22
Agree with the above-once you are in a rut, no matter how well you play something will go against you. We are not good enough. Aside from trying to win loads of dosh, cannot understand why people on here keep saying we are going to win by three goals. W e don't even muster three shots!

5.) 02 Feb 2021 11:18:45
Its an interesting night ahead, and rightly or wrongly, because this game could be a defining point in the future of our beloved wolves, I sense a big edge of nervousness all around the club from the comments on here to nunos words in media. Will the players respond, what will the team be, what tactics will nuno use? Only nuno as an idea. The main thing for us is 1. Not give away an early goal and 2.get up the field and at them as early as possible. Its going to be a confidence sapping game if we don't do either. My team tonight would involve net, pods, Jose and adama and give em some probs, hopefully seiss back and cody and boly on form. Plus I'm still wondering when we last did double on arsenal.

6.) 02 Feb 2021 11:32:05
I don't think it's for the dosh Rated has stated in the past they are just fun bets.
Agaisnt palace very very poor but the Chelsea game we had 3 shots which could of been scored on another day also the dendonker missed control in a great position.
I do admit we are in a terrible run of form but games like Chelsea creating 4 good opportunities gives the optimist hope we will score 3 goals.

7.) 02 Feb 2021 12:21:36
Answering my own pondering I think we last did double over arsenal 1978/ 79 both games 1-0.

8.) 02 Feb 2021 12:43:25
Chelsea game we were only fantastic in defence. Offensively total rubbish.

9.) 02 Feb 2021 12:56:11
No feast tonight Abbey,
But I have just devoured 2 mexican chicken salad seeded large baps from Gregg's so I have got the chicken in me lol.
Hoping for the double like as you say in 1978/ 79.
COYW.

10.) 02 Feb 2021 13:21:35
Wolves 2 arsenal 0 then phil, and no chickening out. let's hope the gunners are like wet lettuce. Seriously, hope we all have a great night tonight and you and your bruv have some more celebrating to do. Onwards and upwards, in Nuno we trust, COYW.

11.) 02 Feb 2021 13:48:01
Ha ha, abbey 👍
Fingers crossed every wolves fan has their spirits lifted tonight,
At the end of the day all everyone wants is for wolves to start winning again.
COYW.

12.) 02 Feb 2021 16:15:40
Well said mate, it's about time we thumped someone, hope it's tonight,

13.) 02 Feb 2021 17:59:20
Kick off time here we go again, the match I'm excited as always😃👍.

29 Jan 2021 21:24:52
Hear me out guys. Julian Draxler.

His contract is up with PSG in the summer, he's on about £100k pw.

We could get him relatively cheap and he wouldn't upset our wage structure.

Whether he'd come or not is another issue but if there's a player out there who ticks all boxes, for me it's him.

Nuno, no doubt you're reading, make it happen.

MattWolf

1.) 30 Jan 2021 00:26:22
Matt- as usual fella I like your ambition! But you've said it yourself buddy, I'd love to be wrong but I just can't see Draxler leaving a club like PSG on a free unless it's for HUGE wages (China/ MLS) or its for a club regularly competing for europe/ trophies. Sadly this season I doubt we can manage either of those critea. Like I say hope I'm wrong cause from what I've seen the guy can play! 👍.

2.) 30 Jan 2021 06:16:03
No I agree Bully, I had read on Sky Sports that PSG could be looking for a deal to sell him to the Premier league to stop him going on a free. We bagged a player like him that shows real ambition. Fills a hole we desperately need filling!

3.) 30 Jan 2021 10:14:24
We got till monday night till it's over the window, you never know what could still happen but as I would be delighted with Draxler or any other signing in the same ilk I'm 50/ 50 on it happening.

16 Jan 2021 12:42:04
I have moaned before about Traore going down easy and sitting on his backside for too long. He has now cost us a goal doing it.

MattWolf

1.) 16 Jan 2021 14:27:04
Some individuals out there today need a serious look at themselves.
Hopefully now we can't sink any lower.
Window still open. Need a CB, midfielder and CF. Not much chance of that then.

2.) 16 Jan 2021 15:37:10
I'm not going to post my full thoughts, honestly today feels like a bad dream.

Summary:
Nuno - IN
Silva - excellent today, hope the loss doesn't knock his confidence
Stick with 4 at the back but play Boly and Saiss/ Kilman

I pray this bad run now pays dividends for us and Fosun realise they HAVE to back Nuno this window.

Buying Kieffer Moore for any amount of money when we are strapped for cash (even if Traore goes) is nothing short of a disgrace. This is a guy who has played most of his career at a very low level (including playing against me! ) and has had a decent 18 months or so playing in a side who are not as technically gifted as most. He will flop, and as a 3rd choice with no long term future or resale value £7-10m is way too much. This would be a huge mistake, a "different option" up front for me needs to be a pacy fox in the box not a lump to boot balls too.

I love your posts Jas and your constant positivity. Generally I agree with what you say, but even you surely cannot justify letting MGW go without bringing in a midfielder. Surely you would agree that even though on the whole the business has been good we have dropped the perverbial not signing a 1st team quality cm?

To let MGW go out on loan without a replacement is criminal. Saw we slapped a last minute recall option for January, stinks of poor planning.

We were 1 first team quality cm from having a reasonable window, cb would have been nice but I think we can make do there. They've had all window to identify targets, there should have been 10 players on that list and even if it took getting the 10th we should have got someone.

We definitely dodged a bullet with Moore! Sorry Abby I disagree £12m is really poor money for someone that really doesn't improve the squad.

To go into a Premier league season with 3 fit CMs and Jordao who will probably go out on loan in Jan is an embarrassment.

I wonder how Bruno feels!

I don't follow him weekly Taff but as I say I have personal experience playing against him, to say he isn't mobile is an understatement. I agree there were (maybe are) fox in the box options. Kieffer Moore is far worse than Willian Jose even half the fee isn't comparable. At the moment we have £0 to spend. Sell Adama for around £40m (as rumoured) and we need to replace him and improve the squad. Cardiff want £10+ for Moore, my view is that is a horrendous way of spending 25% of our budget.

I'd like to see 4231
Sa
Semedo
Coady
Kilman
Marcal
Neves
Donk
Trincao
Silva
Traore
Raul

But I think it'll be a 343 so I'd like

Sa
Semedo
Kilman
Coady
Saiss (not happy about)
RAN
Donk
Neves
Trincao
Raul
Traore

I fear a good hiding today. Hopefully it scares Jeff enough to spend some money!
