Various reports saying we are in advanced talks to sigh Patrik Mercado a player Chelsea were looking at.

Would be a shrewd move and cheap as he's in the last 12 months of his contract. Almost certainly spell the end for Doyle and Traore though.

2.) 10 Oct 2025 11:27:30
Looks like a decent prospect.
However he is highly unlikely to hit the ground running.
Still fairly young and playing at a very low level, Liga Pro, the top division in Ecuador is of a similar level to Norwegian or Hungarian football, i.e. massively below even the English Championship!
Thus unless he is a standout/prodigy in this league, and with only 1 senior cap for Ecuador by the age of 22 he doesn't sound like one, he should, as you say Molineux, be v cheap. However he probably should only be viewed as a prospect/one for the future/squad player and is highly unlikely to be the first 11 starter in the creative midfield/10 role the team needed in August let alone this January.
All in all no worries re taking this player - although of course it means someone has to go out due to NHG limits - but I would be surprised if he is seen as the missing piece that so obviously exists in the first 11

3.) 10 Oct 2025 13:03:26
I would hope that the club are scouting young players with potential irrespective of who is in the managers chair. If they can then force themselves into the 1st team squad great.

4.) 11 Oct 2025 18:11:05
Yes I like bringing in young ones with abilities and ones that will gain in value.

5.) 12 Oct 2025 13:09:02
Seems like another player for the future. FOSUN will have buy top-quality if we’re to have any chance of staying up.

6.) 12 Oct 2025 13:28:28
What chances have our existing young ones got of getting into the 1st team? I mean what REAL incentive is there?

7.) 12 Oct 2025 17:28:54
BosWolf, I would expect an overwhelming majority will not, but that said the academy is run as a separate entity to make a profit and most players at 21 will move on and find their level in the UK or abroad. How we compare to other clubs I don't know but it seems no golden generation has come out of anywhere for about 30 years now.

8.) 12 Oct 2025 19:16:29
Of mane doesn't move up into the squad thers no hope.no point in buying for the future anymore we need players for now.or wer down s.a.t.list all hope with vp after the brighton tactics.gonna need the players to really step up.or theyr just going thru the motions for a move away nxt ssn

9.) 13 Oct 2025 10:42:32
Thanks Arddunby1. It’s a real shame but a missed opportunity I think. How hungry and loyal our boys would be given half a chance. Once one or two break through into the 1st team others would have something realistic to aim for. Oh well!

10.) 16 Oct 2025 12:34:44
Boswolf I think it's just so much more difficult now, unless a youngster is showing international potential as a teenager they will struggle to get into a Premier league academy. The Premier league at the top is now a collection of Englush clubs that largely field international select XI's, you need to be England material to make it to those teams. The bottom clubs are largely made up of players hoping to make it to those top clubs. Sad but true, the days of the old first division and making it good as a local lad are now few and far between. I would say only if you're as good as Gascoigne or Rooney as a 17 year old would you have a pathway that is obvious and that would only be in a top club where they can get game time from the bench at 3 0 up without excess pressure.

How can wolves keep a manager that's got only one point from the last 27 available. Answer because they have an incompetent chairman and incompetent owners.

Jimmy Hagans left foot

1.) 21 Sep 2025 19:22:57
Don’t forget he won six in a row. ??
And also you might well ask how those same incompetent owners can get rid of a manager who got us to 7th in the prem, a European quarter final and an F.A. Cup semi final…but then that would be because you have forgotten that he had no plan b. ??

17 Sep 2025 16:47:38
I think a new 3 year contract for pereira is to long as if he fails it's a lot of money to pay him off. Fosun out.

Jimmy Hagans left foot

1.) 17 Sep 2025 17:19:44
What if he succeeds and walks away at the end of the season to another PL club!
Give the Fosun bashing a rest it's getting boring now.

2.) 17 Sep 2025 18:44:56
Happy with the progress we are making then Blackfords? You may well be right about Pereira, but I seriously doubt it-there are more red herrings swimming about than in an episode of Midsummer Murders where Fosun are involved!

3.) 17 Sep 2025 21:19:44
It's a catch 22, on the one hand we have half a new squad who have bought into VP so the club need to prove they have as well! Only problem is that we haven't won a game in months now! It's a risky move, what if he signs a contract and then doesn't win before Xmas?!
I understand why they are looking at renewing it but equally I would have shelved the discussion at very least until we registered a point in the league!

4.) 18 Sep 2025 03:02:38
What was your opinion about giving O'Neil a contract extension?
How did that work out?

5.) 18 Sep 2025 12:30:21
Hindsights a wonderful thing Handsome, at the time that we extended GONs contract he was being linked with bigger clubs. Don't remember seeing too many on here arguing against it did they. As Black points out the club can't win, if VP suddenly turns things round then gets poached you'd be the first to ask what the club were doing not renewing sooner! Like I said I think it's a good idea but would personally go with the line of 'let's get some points on the board and then sit down and thrash it out'. In fairness I suspect the club probs think this sign of faith may just help get points on the board so its chicken and egg ?

6.) 18 Sep 2025 15:05:09
Don't forget Bully's, he was also being touted as a potential future England Manager at one point. The Club gave him a new contract as, to be fair, he had done a job for us so it all seemed a logical thing to do.

24 Aug 2025 12:20:07
Well what another shocking performance poor team selection again and the new left back looks lost and unfit bellagaurd poor, Munetsi headless chicken and team was lacking in pace until bueno and the new left back came on. Without at least 2 quality forwards before the window closes this team have no hope of stopping up. Fosun out and we need Nuno back asap.

Jimmy Hagans left foot

1.) 24 Aug 2025 13:03:40
Was waiting for someone to suggest we swap with Forest for managers. Have to feel sorry for VP, think unfair to judge him at the moment, he may decide to walk away anyway.

2.) 24 Aug 2025 13:37:22
I think if he doesn’t get another 3 in that he wants he we will walk, that’s why he’s stalking on signing a new contract, I don’t believe he will be here after sep

3.) 24 Aug 2025 13:54:16
The new leftback looks lost? I wonder why?

4.) 24 Aug 2025 15:49:33
This next week will make or break us.

1.) 05 Aug 2025 19:18:25
Yes Jimmy looks like it

2.) 05 Aug 2025 20:27:45
Sad as he looks like a really top prospect.
But that tragically is the reality, Wolves, thanks to 5 years of Jeff's management, can't compete.
Neither financially nor as a career destination for footballers.
Its not just with Villa though, (who by the way though when Wolves had Nuno, Dalrymple and Thelwell were miles behind Wolves by almost every measure), but all the bigger teams including Newcastle, Brighton, West Ham, Bournemouth, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Forest, Everton and Brentford.

3.) 05 Aug 2025 21:43:35
Did Wolves make an approach for him or was it just an unfounded rumour.

4.) 05 Aug 2025 22:17:01
As much as I try to defend Fosun's policy, we could at one time under Nuno and Mendes attract great prospects, Neves, Jota, Neto to name a few and even experienced talented players such as Mountinio (excuse the spelling) and Jonny. I honestly believe the attraction was 'The Project' but now there doesn't appear to be one it's far more difficult to attract ambitious players.

5.) 05 Aug 2025 23:01:37
Fosun and shi get out of our club.

6.) 05 Aug 2025 23:17:46
Being reported he was a target for palace. No mention of wolves being linked.

As for attracting top players it’s funny how we complain about selling our players to top teams every season. Yet the following season we still have more top players to sell on. It’s clear to me that fosun are actually doing quite well at attracting quality players season after season.

7.) 06 Aug 2025 00:36:45
Goatmark1 If Fosun are attracting quality players season after season then how come our league position last season was 16th?
Thought the idea of being PL football club owners was to build a team to compete in the PL not to source players to make your rivals stronger.
First The Points.

8.) 06 Aug 2025 00:38:15
Goat if you start with a squad strong enough to come 7th twice, (and buy a dozen or so players a season which naturally will include the odd good player - and of course no is denying that Gomes, Andre, Emmanuel, JSL and hopefully Arias at least of the existing squad remain top players), you can sell quite a few good players before hitting the buffers
List them out though -Neves, Neto, Jota, Kilman, Semedo, Traore, Jimenez, RAN, Boly, Saiss, Dendonker and MGW were all there before Nuno left. Only Collins, Cunha and Nunes - apologies if I have missed any out - of the good players Wolves have sold were acquired after Nuno.
As to doing well though the league table would disagree with you!
We have bought - as stated above - a number of good and even some very good players but nowhere near enough to even stand still - we haven't - let alone go forwards.
Going backwards sharply, albeit from a position of some strength, is not in my view "doing well"

9.) 06 Aug 2025 08:20:18
Now forgive me if I'm being naive here tfig, for I'm no means a financial minded soul, but teams we can look at now, City, Chelsea, Newcastle, ( too, to an extent, villa and forest ), have 'bought' their way to where they stand now. They've come up established and been sponsored by the owners.
It could be said we'd done similar with fosun coming in and acquiring quality players to take us to Europe, which unfortunately fell foul and abrupt end with covid effects and as you refer to Saville.
After which financial loss and new restrictions left us in the lurch.
Fosuns approach since seems to be to do things on the cheap as it were, maybe through balancing books or through misguided purchases/high wages, not developing the ground or more noticeably buying to sell talent that merely retains our prem status season on season.
Is that lack of ambition, to make a profit on their investment eventually or due to international circumstances? ( I'm given to believe we're the only Chinese owned club now).
Whatever the case we seem to undersell our assets, replace with potential, not retain it and we progress no where.
Players will only want to join us as a stepping stone to the 'big' teams, see Nunes, who I think you omitted, maybe deliberately, from the list above. Are gomes Andre etc of similar desire to that of cunha ait and so on? and do we accept that we'll let them go if the big offer comes in?
I'm writing off the top of my head, but jumbling it all up I can only draw out of it that Fosuns arrival and claims have now gone and that they most probably regret their continued involvement, maybe running things down for a departure.

10.) 06 Aug 2025 12:09:27
Abbey will reply but out today -sorry
Lots of points in there.

11.) 06 Aug 2025 16:18:34
Tfig I wasn't asking you for a direct response, actually apologising to you for not grasping all the financial stuff because you've explained in length befor and it's out of my remit for comprehension.
It was more a general on the cuff observation of how/where we'd got where we are and wondering why we don't secure players we'd like or why said players don't want to join us. Then of course the talent that does come don't stay.
My suspicion of Fosuns intent for the club as worried me for some time.

I think the higher price might be city to pay the 9 million fee to Angers so we don't have to give them half the profit on the deal which would move it from the 33 million to 42 million. Just my opinion/guess.

How can they give a 3 year contract to a man with 1 point out of the last 27, all the new signings he has brought in are very poor. No chance of staying up with this manager, team or owners is about time we started to organise protests out side the ground to get this useless Chinese owners our as soon as possible. Our beloved Wolves are dieing a slow painful death. I've got a ticked for the Tuesday cup match but can't go and watch more dross.

Ordinarywordtree nice bit of research but your figures are out because the fees are spread over 1 to x years depending on the contract length so possible amount the can spend will be different to what you say.
