Rumour.Stefan Posch - Hoffenheim. A defender - €10m. Just on Sky

Don’t think this one has legs.

We now have 6 CBs which will possibly be competing for 2 spots.

I can see a striker and CM coming in with a young winger.

I don’t see any further out goings apart from Traore. A silly offer for Neves may be an exception.

2.) 22 Jul 2022 17:49:04
I get your thinking Dot.
However I can't see Neves going Wolves had lined up Inacio, Palhinha and Nunes in my opinion for the money generated by Neves sale around £70m+.
Also I don't get this obsession with playing 4 at the back. As we don't have the midfielders to fill in the wing backs and the midfield isn't as strong as Man city's or liverpools.
We need to invest in forwards and creative midfielders so we can switch between a 343,433 and 4411 formations.
Nunes, Ramos and Yedder would offer so many options and increase our goals scored.
But don't underestimate the importance of a good defence in the prem as we have only been points off Europe since promotion. Let's focus on goals scored rather than changing our strengths too much.

According to Sky, Everton now in the mix for MGW

Italia Wolf

1.) 05 Jul 2022 16:54:40
Everton, Southampton and Forest obviously think there is a payer there with MGW. His goals and assists and his recent U21 outings appear to back that up. Surely we can find a way to maximise his impact. What he is not is a winger, which is where he featured under Nuno.
He is at his most effective in the final third, linking play with our front men. I personally think we would see the best from Fabio if he had a player or players to link up with. I liked the way we started last season despite three opening defeats. Inverted wide men cutting inside on their stronger foot with the width being provided by wing or full backs. The number of shots we had in those three opening games had us topping that parti cularbstat at that point. Admittedly we failed to score in any of those games and lost by the only goal in the game, in all three. That was down 100% to poor finishing not a poor system!

2.) 05 Jul 2022 17:59:49
Wolf- I could not agree more with you on this! I have been pretty pro Bruno all season and will continue to be as I think he's played the hand that he's been dealt pretty well. However, where you are correct the one criticism I would make is that he threw the towel in too early on the attacking system.

Now I appreciate its easy for me to say that after the event when we finished well clear of the dreaded 'zone' but there's no getting away from the fact he was bought in on a remit of improving the quality of footy whereas what we've had most of this season (bar those first three games) has been Nunos system Mark II! I remember being more excited by our play in those first three games than I was by the rest of the season combined! And your also right that it was working!

We lost by a single goal to good teams whilst on the actual chances created should have at least drawn (if not won) all of those games with better finishing! I would even go one step further with this and say that actually finishing 10th would have been fine for all fans had we done so whilst playing that attacking football!

I think the problem is that what we ended up with was mid table mediocrity combined with (frankly) dull football! Let's hope that Bruno just felt he needed his own players to make it work (in fairness natural CBs capable of playing in a four man defence would massively help). If he gets the players he needs this window then fingers crossed he tries it again. Cause in those first three games we really were one of the best teams to watch in the league!

And let's not forget here that in his first season at Benfica not only did he smash the league in terms of points but he also set a record for most goals scored! Hard to believe that when watching our games in the last three months of the season! I honestly believe Bruno has the ability and vision to build something special BUT to do that he needs to be backed. Over to you Mr Shi and Mr Sellars! COYW ??

3.) 05 Jul 2022 20:34:18
Wolfthistle and BullysBoys II
Exactly my thoughts, I can't disagree on any of your points. Thanks for saving me the effort to express the points myself.

4.) 05 Jul 2022 21:30:48
But would we have finished 10th losing 1-0 every week. ???

5.) 06 Jul 2022 07:52:57
You don't t keep losing playing the way we did in the opening games do you? bad luck and very bad finishing was the problem.
I just cannot see how our fans were not impressed with our play,.BullysBoyII totally right we gave it up far to quickly.
I would love to see us play the same way again, we certainly would win more than we would lose.

6.) 06 Jul 2022 11:06:19
Absolutely right Norfolk, also let's just look at the teams we lost to in those games Man United (who should have finished in the Champs league), Spurs (who did finish in the Champs league) and Lec away (who's home record if usually pretty good)! We also put four goals past Forest with that system, anyone remember how many times we scored four during the rest if the season?! It was just once agaisnt Watford (where they scored one of the goals for us)! New systems take time to come good, it took Klopp a season just to get Pool playing his way. The sooner we start trying to play attacking football the sooner we'll learn how to make it successful! C'mon Bruno stick to the remit that got you the job in the first place!

According to Sky

'Wolves are close to completing a deal to sign RB Leipzig forward Hwang Hee-Chan.

The South Korea international is set to join on an initial loan with an option to buy for more than £12.8m (€15m) .

Hwang is scheduled to fly into Birmingham tonight and undergo a medical tomorrow morning once the final details have been sorted. '

Italia Wolf

1.) 28 Aug 2021 13:27:19
Looks good more direct that our portugese continent. Similar to Jota. Gives us another option.

2.) 28 Aug 2021 14:21:03
20 Games last season, 0 goals. can't help but feel Kiefer Moore would have been a better choice.

3.) 28 Aug 2021 14:49:59
He isn't a striker. I'd rather see some more creative forwards brought in to break down teams (we missed that with Jota leaving last season)
Judging Moore on championship games is foolish. Watkins and Toney have pace which is pretty invaluable in the prem. Defenders would mark Moore out of games.
I still think we will get a striker and defender.

4.) 28 Aug 2021 18:56:59
GDawg14
Don’t be a bell. He’s got European experience. Suffered just the same when Haaland left as Adama did when Raul was injured and Jota left us.
This guy is a good option as opposed to Jose and Moore!
If we can get this lad in and even kang lee-in one of the two defenders we’re linked with a potential midfielder we’ll be laughing with the kind of football we’ve been dishing out recently.

5.) 28 Aug 2021 22:07:52
Hwang Hee Chan would be a great signing - gave the Liverpool defence including Van dyke huge problems a couple of seasons ago in champions league, leipzig lost but he was by far the star over the two legs.

6.) 28 Aug 2021 22:24:42
Any wonder players don't want to come when we have so called fans like GDawg?
Anyway apparantly it's a done deal announcement Monday, they are wrapping up the final bits on a CB and CM too apparantly.

7.) 29 Aug 2021 06:30:53
We have a new troll! welcome GDwag.

8.) 29 Aug 2021 10:10:38
Good news if correct!

9.) 29 Aug 2021 11:27:36
Rated RKO that makes sense.
But surprised if they don't bring another striker as cover. We need a goal machine if we had one and he had 10 chances a game we would be easily winning games under Bruno's methods.

10.) 29 Aug 2021 12:32:58
Say what you like about G Dawg but 1 assist and no goals in 20 games for Leipzig, who aren't exactly a struggling team, suggest that Bruno will have work to do to develop his game.

11.) 29 Aug 2021 13:29:03
Stats like that do not make impressive reading, however why has nobody posted the fact that of the 20 games played, he only started 2 of them and was subbed on in the other 18 games. Or the fact that he played a grand total of 447 minutes over the entire season?

12.) 29 Aug 2021 14:42:39
I remember a certain Jiminez having not so good stats before joining us look how that turned out.
So I suggest people stop bashing players before they've even joined it's embarrassing.

13.) 29 Aug 2021 14:48:07
What does 20 games mean? 20 5 minute appearances or 20 full 80+ minute appearances?

14.) 29 Aug 2021 16:09:05
I wouldn’t get too caught up in stats.

15.) 29 Aug 2021 19:28:12
Rated another great post Jimenez had no statistical background and play battered him we hen he joined and look he’s one of the best in the Prem and we missed him last year hand we’re seriously struggling to get a goal with him catching up now.
It is embarrassing but, unfortunately I find it’s a majority of wolves fans these days. Very negative and think for some reason we’re entitled to the big shots in the game.
We all know we’re a big club that’s been beaten down and unattractive for many years now but, over the past 4-5 years we have attracted some really great players but, look at the rubbish we slapped out last year, the awful showing against Sevilla and our football over that past few years has let’s face it been on the decline. Bruno’s attacking style may attract better players again hopefully,
We put in another great shift again today and by far the better side but, we really need to put the ball in the net or as we know get punished at this level! Hopefully we can bring in a few more before the window closes and get that all important first goal then I think all hell will break loose and we’ll be popping 3 or 4 in. Look a lot the forest game once we got one they kept coming afterwards. Just need that breakthrough in the league now.

16.) 30 Aug 2021 20:19:01
Glad to see your post Jas and as always shedding some light on stats/ comments that otherwise appear negative. I’m looking forward to seeing our new arrival play.

Lopetegui doesn't want the job - wants to concentrate on his family. Who next?

Italia Wolf

1.) 12 Oct 2022 10:12:20
Someone on Twitter claiming that Wolves are interested in reappointing Nuno.

2.) 12 Oct 2022 12:23:55
Nuno won't come back. Once bitten twice shy. Truth is no-one of any real quality will want to come to Wolves. After all we ain't in Manchester and we ain't in London. Fosun have messed this up big time and I fear we are heading back to the dark days of the mid 80's

3.) 12 Oct 2022 12:53:00
I just asked a mate the very same question Jas, would he like to see Nuno back. He said yes.

4.) 12 Oct 2022 13:31:50
We need to take a look at the positions above the head coach to see where it has all gone wrong.
For instance how is the relationship between Jeff and Jorge? Never see them in the same room.

5.) 12 Oct 2022 13:32:40
about 90 percent of the wolves fans would say yes to nuno coming back

6.) 12 Oct 2022 13:40:03
I wish people would stop pining for Nuno, love the bloke but end of the day the rot started in his final season with us.

7.) 12 Oct 2022 16:26:45
Don't think there's any chance of Nuno coming back. I do know that he would never have got shot of Coady, his drive and leadership is badly missed. No need for a captain's armband now we don't have a proper leader. No critisism of Ruben Neves intended but not vocal enough. I think Sean Dyche is worth a shout, perhaps instill some discipline.

8.) 12 Oct 2022 16:50:02
Rated RKO
You sound like you think Nuno was to blame for the rot setting in, well I don't agree.Firstly there's the effects of covid, isolated from his family, maybe not so much in the in his final year but it must have taken its toll, Then of course not getting the backing in the transfer market which he asked for and definitely needed.
He like Connor Coady was a great ambassador for our club and that's been blown apart, and we are in a very sad state at the
Moment,I Don't seeing him being asked to return as that wouldn't look good on Shi would it? I doubt he would agree to return any way, just my thoughts

9.) 12 Oct 2022 16:59:37
Nuno also screwed us out of getting Vitinha if he had played him more we might have signed him.

10.) 12 Oct 2022 18:16:17
Rated - whilst on paper his last season was by far his worst, indeed even worse than the first of Lage's, there is a strong arguement to say getting us to 13th was his greatest achievement whilst at Wolves.
Remember we have/had a v small squad and so after Seville in mid August (due to Covid delaying the season and of course European football being played post the domestic season) Wolves had just a month off before the new season started. They were therefore out on their feet before the season even began. However despite playing poorly we had 17 points from the first 10 games and were sat nicely in the Euro positions.
Then Jimenez got injured and Nuno - due to the catastropically bad transfer window executed by Shi, who had just made himself the head of the transfer committee - looked round and saw he had no adult cover for Jimenez whatsoever.
We therefore effectively played the last 28 games with 10 men and no cf - William Jose was no better and later admitted he didn't want to be there - another great transfer!.
Jose was the player given to Nuno who begged for help in the Jan realising that relegation was almost a certainty without something changing - if you recall we picked up a mere handful of points between Jimenez's injury and Jan and had dropped down the table alarmingly.
He then showed his true brilliance by changing the system slightly - making us even more negative - and asking Traore to put the team on his shoulders. Over the next few weeks safety was assured before we collapsed again at the end of the season as a result of the total exhaustion in the squad and of course the fact that

11.) 12 Oct 2022 18:20:16
that Nuno and presumably his senior players knew he was leaving.
Given the hand he was dealt - note Neto missed a chunk as well due to injury - it was an astonishing performance to keep us up and whilst you can def say it was the first season of the rot I'm not sure you can point the finger of blame at Nuno for what happened - David Luiz and whichever Fulham defender crocked Neto or the tranfer comittee are in my opinion far more culpable?

12.) 12 Oct 2022 18:20:30
I would welcome Nuno back, as someone has said, he got shafted by Shi and Co, the sale of Jota after not back to manager to push on after our Euro run was the first sign, We were still coming to terms after a very short pre season, a huge injury to Raul, followed by a few keys injuries in a small squad, Nuno obviously called them out and for that he was relieved of his duties. That's what I believe happened, I could be wrong.
Get him back an let's rebuild the small bit of damage and march on again, still plenty to play for this season

13.) 12 Oct 2022 19:15:16
Sydney wolf I don't think you're wrong. It was after the Seville match, when we were played off the park, that Nuno knew the players he had had gone as far as they could. He knew change was needed, both in personnel and style. The problem was he was never given what he knew he needed. The rest is history. And in history is where it should stay. I loved Nuno, but there can be no going back. It seldom works and would probably taint our memories of such great times. We have to move on. Whoever comes in has got a massive job. We've been treading water, at best, for the past two years and now with the spine of our team gone, we are hurtling headfirst toward relegation. The right manager could steady the ship and get us to safety. But can we trust Shi to get the right man in. It's going to be a simple matter of Pot Luck.

14.) 12 Oct 2022 19:43:43
Sydney - tks a far more concise, (and reading back with better English and spelling), version of what I just wrote!
Can't however see him being willing to come back under the present management structure - as I said previousy who, (that is not unemployed) would without some fairly caste iron gtees as to the future conduct of the owners and a not insignificant transfer budget.
FFP problems coming our way again I fear although they pale into insignificance compared to the problems that will occur if we go down.
Maybe when you are bored work through the first 11 and see who would stay with us if we go down - its, for a variety of reasons, a scarily short list!

15.) 12 Oct 2022 20:15:18
And if Nuno came back but unfortunately couldn't keep us up,he would be slaughtered by every single one of you who's saying they'd have him back.
Time to move on, Nuno is a god and it's best not to sour it.

16.) 12 Oct 2022 20:37:50
Nuno biggest thing for me was the identity he had given us.
I think the next manager if we are to kick on has to do similar.

We may well be doomed but that doesn't mean we may well not be.

Everything still to play for in the next chapter of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

03 Oct 2022 20:44:33
Well I think one name we can rule out will be Sean Dyche.
Based on Forest's first half display they'll be looking for a new manager soon too.
With their English playing contingent and Dyche being an ex Forest apprentice I think it would be a dead cert.

Italia Wolf

1.) 04 Oct 2022 13:15:21
Good point Italia, Dyche is about the last Clough Protoge.

2.) 04 Oct 2022 18:16:59
I wouldn't mind Dyche Ardunby and with no negative news on Cooper as I type, you never know.

3.) 05 Oct 2022 10:02:25
Italia, in truth Dyche was never going to get the sort of squad we have assembled at Burnley so its somewhat unknown how he would work with them. At the moment I've got an open mind on many of the names mentioned as in truth I only have online profiles to evaluate them by.

{Ed001's Note - as a neutral I would love to see Dyche get a squad with the quality of players Wolves have to see what he can do. He always said he only played the way he did at Burnley because of the players he had and that he would play more entertaining football with better players. Wolves would give him a chance to show whether that is true or not.}

4.) 05 Oct 2022 11:12:48
Ed001 I'm not that far away from your thinking.

{Ed001's Note - I like his management style away from the pitch. He brings the club together, all staff, as a team. I like the way he makes the training and even punishments fun for the group and players look forward to getting in each day.}

5.) 05 Oct 2022 18:42:08
Ed001 I must admit of all the managers mentioned the one with most Premier league experience is Sean Dyche. It would be fascinating to see what he could do with our squad, personally I wouldn't mind seeing him get the opportunity but will no doubt get shouted down for even thinking it when you can have someone who's name is difficult to spell or pronounce! Sean would probably be a very enlightened choice but as much as I quite like the idea I sadly can't see it happening. Hope someone gives him a chance and the money to try.
