Oh dear. People say pre season friendly results don't matter, but I am worried about the Man City game. In fact I am worried about our season. We desperately need three new faces, but I can't see it happening. I am normally optimistic, but something just isn't right.

I didn't see the game just the highlights after. The one thing that comes across to me from those did see it was that it looked more like a group of individuals than a team.

That's understandable given the circumstances of this window, the early sale of key individuals and the late arrival of their replacements which still isn't complete. I have zero expectation for the early stages of the season as it will now take VP further time to get them all singing from the same hymn sheet.

As for surviving another season in this league that is still far from clear, so it looks like another edge of the seat job, thanks Fosun.

Again pre season is just fitness but also if we had a pre season like last year I am sure Shi would say we are good for now. We can’t all see how short we are with no real creativity on the bench and the fact that we haven’t been scoring hopefully means that Vitor is knocking Jeff’s door saying we need players in asap to compete.

I'm sorry but comparisons to last year can't be made. Different manager, who left before the season started, different players and different circumstances.
It's this year this manager and these players who have looked sloppy at best.
We havnt put out oit the same starting XI twice. We havnt had the same on field captain twice, (a difficult choice I know, but the fans' choice, gomez yesterday),
A week before the opener and we're still wanting 2-3 players, the ones we have acquired not bedded in yet. What preparation is that?
VP can only work with what he's got but there dosnt appear to be a leader out there, and maybe things are a little more relaxed from the dug out than it should be?. I don't know of course, but someone will need to get it into the players heads that they're playing for the club it's fans and one another, not just a wage packet.
Hopefully Shi and his Fosun superiors will have heard, seen and read the dissatisfaction, hopefully better contracts will be offered to potential players, but I have to wonder who would be attracted to join a relegation battle as seems?

Trying to bring players in a week before the first match probably means inflated prices? Thought we wanted players brought into the squad early to create an identity? The big question for me is; if I was a decent player with potential given the reputation over the past few seasons of Fosun's running of the club would I want to sign? I think we are lucky Larson had a mate who was a wing back or we may have been another player short.
