So today we weren't great but I actually thought keeping Brighton to 1-0 half time was actually an improvement even though we were poor. We have the worst defence in the league, we are conceding 2.7 goals a game on average, 5 more in total than Ipswich but I think a back 3 will slow that down a bit if we can keep our centre backs fit. Amazing isn't it how we haven't invested in that area of the pitch and now it's coming back to haunt us, non of us could have predicted that could we! One good thing is I don't think the fight is gone, I saw the players at the end who were desperate to get that equaliser, they look more lost/jaded than anything.

Bad luck last week, good luck this week. It evens itself out.
Next week and the following few games will tell us how likely we are to survive.
My biggest concern is the low level of our successful passing completion, especially going forward.
Fix that and we will be OK.

Doesnt even itself out atall especially when u look at var.with more than double goals disallowed to the next team.amongst other decisions gone against us.conspiracy me thinks

I have to disagree with you Ukraine. We may have been poor in the 1st half but we were comfortable and Brighton didn't look likely to breach our defence until Sa inexplicably gifted them the ball.

2nd half we were better but again nearly shot ourselves in the foot when Tommy Doyle stopped and missed a Sarabia pass to him.

The reason Brighton didn't play well is because we didn't allow them too so some credit has to go to GON for setting us up that way.

It was a good point yesterday, & for a change an element of good luck for the equaliser, however in this league to stand a chance of winning we need to be consistent for the full 90+ mins. I noticed again that all of our new signings apart from Larson were on the bench and in Johnstone's case didn't make that despite being told he was fit. Are these not good enough and if so why did we sign them?

Careful Wandering, giving credit to GON is clearly not on the agenda for some on here this season! Despite the fact I have yet to read a single realistic suggestion of a) another manger that would realistically take the job on b) how they are a proven improvement on what we have. Problem is that it seems much easier just to shout 'sack the manager' than it is to come up with a reasoned argument on who might be in line to take on and improve this absolute circus!

Yes it’s funny how every time we play a top team they don’t play well, must have been said after nearly every game this season but people still think it has nothing to do with us causing them to play like that. Wasn’t it Ipswich who beat us to the signing of a cb? Yet we’ve only conceded 5 more than them. Take away the Chelsea and Brentford game and our defence isn’t too bad. Could do with a clean sheet every now and again though tbf.

We have been in every game Goatmark and could easily have picked up points against Villa City and Liverpool.
We got a point away at Forest and they are a top half team now.
GON wants to get away from five at the back and play a more attack minded game and this is leading to us scoring more goals and being involved in entertaining games.
Posters criticise Fosun but where would we be without their investment.
With more winnable games coming up we will soon be climbing the table and heading towards the European places.
Keep the faith.FWAW

What are you talking about black? Andre has started a lot of games since joining and clearly Johnstone was injured. The other 2 are young and Forbes is on loan. Seems your just making stuff up to have a dig at the club. Generally most new signing for any club don’t get in the team instantly. Look at man city with nunes, why pay so much for a bench warmer.

Hi Goatmark,
Nunes, because Man City can afford to do it! We need players ready to go and Johnstone had overcome his injury ACCORDING to GON, so nothing made up there!

Johnstone went straight in to the team for a few games till he got injured but now all of a sudden he’s not ready? Or are you saying Bentley has overtaken him?. And Andre played a few fairly quickly after joining so saying we didn’t buy player ready to go isn’t true.

Andre looks quality, but Johnstone? Injured or dropped?
I'm not having a dig at the club and if you look at my posts I think you'll find I've said consistently IMO we have a talented team, I just question GON and his coaching teams ability to improve our situation. Don't think I'm alone there either.

In fairness Goat we signed 8 players, of those only 4 have actually started a game in the Prem. Forbs is young but as you also point out is on loan so needs to be starting soon. Rodrigo Gomes it would seem is not only not getting games but according to GON himself isn't even training at the level required yet! I think it's definitely fair to say that at this stage the jury is very much still out on how successful our signings will be ?

I think Blacks point was the 8 signings we made weren’t deemed good enough as they were on the bench. However if your including Doyle in the 8 and of course Larson who has started every game then that’s 2 who we signed in the summer that started yesterday. Of the other 6 as far as I can see Andre, Gomes, Forbs and Johnstone have all started at least 1 game as well as coming on as subs. The 18yo Lima hasn’t started a game yet neither has the injured 18yo Meupiyou. Gomes came on yesterday and has played in 4 games so not bad for someone who isn’t training at the level required.

Of course the jury is still out BB that wasn’t in question, I’m not sure why anyone would expect them to be starting every game after just joining as most players need time to bed in. I simply didn’t agree with Black questioning the quality of the signings at such an early stage in their wolves career.

Personally I would like the see forbs starting more and I think he will once up to speed. I think Gon got it right leaving Andre out yesterday, he looks a great player but trying to fit him in has caused other problems in midfield. I still have faith Gon will get it right and we will be fine.

Also andre played for brazil and was a little jaded.so.still seems hard playing lemina gomes andre as a3.so swap who for doyle?i think we have the players.its just getting the balance right AND making the right subs at the right time

Goatmark Just for clarity I said it was an improvement but I still think we were poor first half. And I’m not against O’Neil, I think the recruitment (whoever is actually in charge of it) has got us into this mess. We are mid table on goals scored but comfortably last on goals conceded. We have played top sides but last season we would have picked up points against those same sides, our defence is unquestionably worse, anyone who knows anything about football knows the first job in a struggling side is to sure up the defence. I hope O’Neil can do it otherwise it will be a long season. Ask the FA if they can not count the Chelsea and Brentford game at the end of the season then, might help ?

Not sure I was replying to you Ukrainewolf. I’d agree that we were poor first half but kept Brighton fairly quiet so not that bad. My point about the Chelsea and Brentford games were we clearly fell apart so conceded a load. Without those two games our defence isn’t the worst in the league. I realise we can’t discount the games just pointing out we aren’t letting in loads every game. But again obviously still too many.
