So what do Wolves need to do over the next few days?
Amazingly after what seemed an excellent start to the close season, with 3 very promising signings, the return from loan of the impressive prospect Yerson and some superb performances in America, we are a few days away from having a cataclysmically bad close season that may prove terminal for our Premier League lives!
The first 11 is now markedly weaker, the squad is minimally deeper and still totally unbalanced!
We probably, in an ideal world, need to add 5, 6 or even 7 bodies to give us the squad depth we so badly needed last season.
I am assuming Podence, Fabio and Guedes are not going to be part of the squad and even Sarabia may leave - I am disregarding Fraser and the other kids we threw in the deep end so unsuccesfully last year!
In purely positional order we need:
A back up GK - a low priority. Clearly we will also need a first choice if Sa leaves.
A back up LB - a lowish priority if we are going to play 3CBs as RAN is a superb LWB but if we aren't we need a genuine competitor for RAN
A first choice CB - preferably a left sided one who can alongside Toti offer LB/LWB cover. This is the highest priority. Without a signing of genuine quality we are in serious trouble. This has been obvious from day 1, i.e. before we sold Kilman, and it is criminally negligent that, especially after selling Kilman, we have started the season without having made that signing!
A high quality back up/first choice CB if we are playing 3 and Dawson is no longer an option. If we are playing 2 or Dawson is still a viable option this may be a low priority. I'm happy for Toti to play alongside 2 experienced CBs, (as he did last year), but either in a 2 or as a 3rd with lower quality/experienced partners I'm not so comfortable!
A WF, (or 2 if Sarabia and Podence leave), another high priority as I am sceptical that Hwang will ever rediscover that magic spell from last year or that Gomes R, who has no Premier league experience, can be relied on week in week out.
This is almost impossible to achieve and will cost a fortune, especially as we are now clearly identified as a desperate buyer with a very tight time frame to achieve a vast amount.
Appalling management will sadly cost Fosun a lot of money, if we are even allowed to spend it - although again unless our accounts are spectacularly worse than expected we should be - but as I said before a fool and his money are easily parted and we have sadly shown ourselves to be very foolish!

On the plus side TFIOG we are only 6 pints from to of the league. I think we should stick with the back 4 and learn from our mistakes. We had a hard first couple of matches. If we are still losing in a few games time, maybe revert back. Most of all just give it time and chance

Hi folks, it's been a while.

I don't know what's going on at our beloved club. The transfer window started so brightly with the permanent signing of Doyle plus the additions of Larsen, Lima and Gomes.

We all expected Neto to go as well as one of AIT, Kilman, Joan Gomes or Cunha. It turns out that it was Kilman and Neto.

Neither have been replaced and there seems to be mixed messages regarding the finances. On Thursday, GON stated that there were no financial issues but today he admitted that there were restrictions. What this means is anybodies guess.

I don't think we have the personnel to play a back 4 and today's performance clearly highlighted that defensive reinforcements are required immediately.

Attack wise, we seem to be fine but we do miss the creativity that Neto brought us.

The next few days are crucial, Our frailties were there for everyone to see today and hopefully the board will address this but I won't hold my breath.

Again TFIOG I find it difficult to find anything wrong with your post, spot on for me. Whatever heroics Fosun have performed in the past, that was then, this is now.

We are the most weakened club in the Premier League no doubt as selling off your best players and trying to replace them with younger cheaper alternatives is a well trodden path to failure at this level.

I finally watched the second half. First half we were very good apart from some defensive errors but we’re better than Chelsea and on another day could have been 4-2 up at half time. Second half was shocking, but we still created chances. So for me we are attacking much better but don’t have the balance at the back.
We need to get rid of SA. He needs to do one as he is a liability. He has no competition so that is not helping, but is getting beat far to often now at his near post, has terrible distribution and always puts the defence in trouble with passing to someone who has a player on their back.
We need a CB for sure. I would rather see Dawson and yerson and then we can either stick Doc at left back or Toti and Semedo on the right when he comes back. We can’t abandon the 4 at the back just yet after a good pre season. Maybe need a LB also but if GON does revert to a 5 we will be more solid.
We need a left winger and another CF. Hwang has been poor in pre season and today was absent. He has gone way off the boil. I would start Rodrigo over him for the next game and I would play a strong team against Burnley so we can get some confidence under our belts.
It was just one of those days today with a freak result, when it could have been 6-6.
Let’s not overreact after 2 games. I honestly have us down to get 6-8 points after the first 6 games and then hopefully start to get more points under our belts when playing the teams around us.
We do need some wins though soon because otherwise it could turn into a season that started out like when Lage was in charge although I think the team and manager are much better than then.
So in summary, we need a keeper, CB, LW, CF

future. Couldn't agree more you've summed it up very well. I can't understand why they've been dragging their heels in getting players in it's painfully obvious that they are required. It should be a busy week, or at least I hope it is!

Cheers boys. It's good to be back. Hopefully this time next week we'll be raving about 2 wins and our new players making stellar starts to their Wolves career.
