The blue card or ten minute sin bin could spoil the game as a spectacle. I can see coaches of the team reduced to ten men telling them to try and hold possession for ten minutes and try and wind the clock down. Wolves vs Brentford I see a hiccup as Brentford will be out to avenge fa cup defeat. I hope I am wrong.

Exactly and what happens if it's the goalkeeper who gets a blue card?
This is just another idiotic scheme conjured up by the fools at the top who have no idea about the game.

The game’s already ruined as a spectacle, what was the point of introducing the multi - ball system to speed the game up then changing the goal kick rule allowing ‘keepers and defenders to play tippy tippy in the box? One thing I’d like to see, if we have to have five subs, would be that any substituted player isn’t allowed to play in the next game, Managers substituting players at the exact time the added time is announced, doing all they can to break up play, it’s become so predictable and frustrating to watch, Managers would think seriously about “resting” players for five minutes and players wouldn’t be jogging off grinning, knowing they’re not playing in the next game.

Interesting all the media hype around this issue.
For me, the starting point for any penalty system is to act as a deterrent to inappropriate/illegal behaviour.

So looking at the terrible state of football today, what are the things that need eradiating:
- Dangerous play
- Cheating
- Disrespect for Officials and other players

How might we improve the awful behaviour players to bring them up to better levels of decency we see in other sports like Rugby, Tennis etc:
- Dangerous Play - as now yellow.red card
- Cheating, ie diving, tactical extreme tackles - as now, yellow
card
- Disrespect of the game, officials, other players, fans.
Swearing, pushing, crowding, exaggerating injury etc.
This is the missing bit that needs a deterrent to raise the behaviours that impact also on youngsters and grassroots football who "copy" the top players.
In other sports "sinbinning" has a really positive effect.
Just look at Rugby, Ice Hockey, Hockey all well managed and enhances the game.
The trouble is football is grossly mismanaged, we can't even make VAR work!
So it might be right, but until the core of the game is sorted, it is unlikely to be constructive.

Anybody sin binned for 10mins will get it back during the inexplicable 10-15 mins added time anyway lol. Seriously imagine neto getting binned 30 mins into the game, he comes back on at 40, is he going to risk a sprint in the next 5mins when he's not warmed back into it or wait til half time? Are binned players allowed to keep jogging by the side of the pitch, can two players be binned at once? Whoever came up with this as no place in football governance, commercial department yes, as I said below it'll be 4 quarters, more adverts in the breaks and the game aimed at a global TV market with will really help lower teams outside the '6' won't it? I can't see a big attraction for league 1 and 2 clubs. The game is being 'bought' away from the match going fan and they're paying, literally for it. We must prevent this commercialisation of OUR game.

Other sports have different mentalities, different egos and different incomes. They aren't 'playing' to a huge live audience, (rugby accepted), and therefore attracting commercial interests in the same way. Football is, at the higher level, trying to cream as much money as they can globally. I'm afraid blue cards, sin bins etc are of no help to the game what so ever. Its the first step to redesigning the game for maximum commercial opportunity. As I've suggested before it'll be quarters next with Ad breaks between.
Back to 10min sin bin how do players who have binned come back into the game? Neto gets binned on 40mins, comes back with 5/6 mins left in first half. Does he risk a hamstring pull because he's not up to speed?
Rugeley you hit the point with the disrespect, cheating swarming etc, but also that the ref has a yellow and red card if they had the courage to use them accordingly and consistently then maybe the need for sin bins wouldn't exist. Apply the laws, book and sent off the complainers even if they carry a big name on the shirt, and the respect and the grass roots influences may return to the game, but then shaving manufactures etc may not want to associate themselves to a clean cut sportsman/club.
Back to today, still think we'll have a test, still going 3-2. COYW.

What happens if the goalkeeper is blue carded, the same as when only one sub was allowed in the 70's when a keeoer went off injured an outfield player takes the Jersey I would assume.

If this does come to Tier 1 fixtures it's going to alter training routines!

Indeed ardunby, what if two players are binned at the same time or one after the other, you could end up playing with 10 men for almost a half. It's a crazy proposal and I think FIFA have halted it for the time being. Which means they'll trial it somewhere sadly.

I don't like a blue card. Blue is a peaceful color, especially the lighter shades. Like a blue sky is peaceful and relaxing to see.

The new card should be orange. Orange is a more aggressive color. More severe than a yellow, but not quite a red which is a really mad color.
