I've not posted before but was curious. It's looking increasingly more likely Lope will run away, I believe he has history of being a turncoat when he was tapped up by Real Madrid. Look how that turned out. I don't trust Fosun or Shi, nothing but smoke and mirrors. I can see why Lope would jump ship but let's remember, this squad all be it thin has an array of riches, talent and international pedigree. If he's the top coach he thinks he is, why can't he make what he has at his disposal work. Aside from Neves I don't think we're particularly that much weaker. Jimenez as great as he was is not that player any more. Collins although a talent was about as accident prone as his name sake Neil. Traore was good to watch at times but had the final touch and finish of a pub team player. My belated question is this isn't a bad side on paper and someone of the ilk of Graham Potter would be my choice to get this team moving forward. It didn't work out at Chelsea but he was damned from the start, the club had no strategy apart from wielding the cheque book. He has a point to prove to re-establish himself and would be a no brainier for me. Thoughts please?

Welcome Batey,
Must say that's a very realistic post imo and I do agree on your views. Unfortunately the media loves to create waves and a lot of our supporters hang on their every article.I do think we need a midfielder who can see a decisive pass, something I think we have lacked since Joao Moutinho started to fade 2/3 seasons ago just my opinion of course.

You make a lot of sense, and I agree apart from Neves we have not lost any worth while players, the squad is better now than this time last season, we need to give this squad a chance and I believe we will do ok with like we have done before, who ever the managers is.

Don't want to see JL go, I think it would be a big mistake but if he did GP would be my first choice as replacement.

Batey, welcome to the site.

However a couple of points you make need rectifying.

Lopetegui has a reputation of walking away from a club based on his tenure as Spain boss and Real Madrid boss. Yes, it was wrong how it played out but remember, he was offered a rolling 1 year contract as Spain boss depending on how they got on at the World Cup. Real Madrid however offered him 3 times the money and a minimum 2 year contract. He took the stable option.

'If he's the top coach he thinks he is, why can't he make what he has at his disposal work' - He did. We were 20th when he took over and he guided us to 13th. We would have been knocking on a European place had we had him all season.

A sensible post Jas M.
Only weakness in our Club is the CEO.
After 3 years of his direct control and awful decision making, no half-decent Coach would touch us.
If Lopetegui walks, plus his team, Wolves will not just be relegated, but really struggle as a Club.
Shi has to be removed ASAP!

I believe we have a we have a better squad than last season, of course we need some depth. Neves was sold as we were all expecting, youth players have been sold but that is what our academy is for, if they don't make the grade you sell them. JLO is a top coach and he has bought in players that he wants in January, we find ourselves in a difficult situation but you adapt and work with what you have. 2 nil to Wolves today.

Welcome batey and good points but I have to ask why is it increasingly likely JL will go? No he hasn't got the transfer market he'd like and he voiced his concerns sometime ago, he also said he was staying. Sales have occurred but I think we knew who'd go, except perhaps collins, so he'd be aware of that too. I still believe we'll see some additions and I do believe JL will be with us to start the season, who knows what may happen after a few results?. Today I'm hoping for a solid performance, an organised unit and dare I say it goals our way. The defence will be tested I'd imagine. Rennes are a decent team and as its a friendly I'll go 2-2 in the rain.!
