With reference to the much discussed need for change and Fosun's alleged acknowledgement of that how much really will? I think it's fair to say that in terms of signings this summers window has been a 'slow burner' so not dissimilar to previous ones. We have seen a few players leave and some top performers sold, so again par for the course for Wolves in recent years.
We've signed a talented 20 year old and if indications are correct have an agreement to sign one of the best players currently playing in Brazil, which is good. With several weeks left in the window I'm sure there may well be several more in the pipeline, but not an avalanche of signings as some suggest we need. Additionally, we're also seeing a couple of long term injuries and previously loaned out players returning to the fold for VP to assess in Portugal, so all pretty normal stuff.
We've seen a Football Department reshuffle a Sporting Director leave and a new Technical Director appointed, plus the Coach promoted to Manager and a re-emergence of Jorge Mendes presumably as Jeff Shi's advisor/facilitator.
Liam Keen wrote that 'the penny had dropped' with Fosun as the transfer policies imposed on the club would almost certainly end in relegation at some future point, as it could easily have done last season. So far though what's actually changed? Management, yes a bit, Sales of our better players, no that continues, Signing of enough players to maintain squad depth, no not yet, Signing of better players, so far no, but some may yet happen? I hope to see a better team throughout and hopefully that will happen by the end of the window, it really has to.
I asked the question "how far has the penny dropped" with Fosun? I have more confidence with the people now associated with the football side and expect better performances and League rankings, but and for me it's a big 'but' what's happening on the commercial side of the club to financially facilitate and maintain all of this? Will we still see our best sold off continuously to plug the gap between our income and expenditure, as pointed out by Tfiog, or will we see improvements on the financial side as well?
Again time will tell I suppose but if nothing on the commercial side changes, then I fail to see how sustainable growth on the football side can.

An excellent analysis Long. So far this summer looks pretty much like the past few. I hope for the best with little confidence.

Sadly longmynd any excitement I had is being flattened by the inactivity and constant links to and then the player going else where routines. Ok this is a lot of clickbait associated crap, but even now I read Arias was due to arrive for €15m, then it wasn't enough, today we'd upped it to €20m and its reported that's not enough.
The window seems to be going as it has every year, I hope we'll be proven wrong and there'll be proven surprise additions on the way soon, but I'm glad I'm not holding my breath for them.

Unfortunately I agree Abbeywolf, at the moment seems the same as the last few summers. Optimism at the start that it will be different, linked to lots of good players and then the same, offer not successful, we keeping tabs on, monitoring, etc. Realise there is time yet and still hoping come the start of the season we have a much stronger team and squad, at the moment though this seems a long way off. ?

The player may force their hand.
