First of all, am I right in thinking that you can't be offside from a corner?
If a player passes the ball from the byline and a player scores direct from the cross it can't be offside.
You can see that pablo is still standing in the corner spot so every wolves player has to be onside?

That was my initial thought exactly legornal and it's true, but as soon as the ball comes forward again players can be offside, ie if chinwa had recieved it from kilmans header he'd have been offside. But he didn't the ball was planted straight in the net. The next question is did our player obscure or block their keeper from making a save, the answer no on both accounts. So a perfectly good goal is rubbed out by the suggestion of VAR to an influenced ref who by making the decision shows he as no place in the premiership. No one in the ground seemed to doubt it being a legit goal, so why did someone outside and remote look for reasons to disallow it? As I've said before a letter of apology is no compensation for the points or table position we end up with. VAR isn't correcting obvious mistakes, they're applying judgements that are spurious. Its time to scrap the present system .

There is a definite whiff hanging over VAR, aided and abetted by the intent of the FA and how the PL is managed. FFP is a joke. It seems that a rich club with a battery of lawyers to defend an array of charges can delay justice, whereas smaller clubs with lesser charges get instant justice by comparison. Simply the FA's overriding management style is to preserve the status quo to ensure maximum TV rights cash, and full stadiums at the big venues to ensure the successful clubs cash flow to keep the circle flowing. Seems they would hate a newly promoted club to win the PL, was the last club to get promoted and win the top division Notts Forest and Clough? What chance of that now. Money is concentrated to prevent that. Clubs are effectively barred from taking on the top 6 by FFP. FFP was supposed to protect small clubs, try asking Bury how that worked. Now clubs who secure a wealthy owner with hope of taking on the fat cats who did exactly that and thereby secured a massive revenue, can not do the same. It is a protection racket, a scheme to impose a monopoly of success. VAR and how it is implemented with regular rule changes to suit it, is a part of this grand scheme. Corruption? I didn't say that, but plenty do.

3.) 07 Apr 2024 17:14:45
Maybe incompetence more than corruption, if the bigger clubs get a higher percentage of matches that are officiated by better officials maybe the decision making is better.

4.) 07 Apr 2024 19:44:16
That is very possible Arddunby. But when poor decisions are made how often is the less 'fashionable' club the loser.

5.) 08 Apr 2024 09:52:05
Wimborne, it sometimes appears that way but unless a full range of data is used to analyse outcomes, (including betting patterns) then its difficult to say.

For corruption to be present, and I'm not saying it isn't, I would think many people would be in the know, that in itself is conspiracy That then becomes harder to cover up, as there's also money in it by revealing an exclusive to the media.

If an agenda exists against certain teams my guess is its individual officials with an axe to grind against a certain club for one reason or another, but once again I'm speculating.

6.) 08 Apr 2024 16:49:04
We can only speculate Arddunby, but I see Everton only get 2 point deduction for a second offence, and the rumour is that the FA is thinking of dropping points deduction as a future penalty. Could it possibly be that the FA is now concerned over the precedent that may well impact on 2 teams in the select set, one who is charged and the other under scrutiny. If there was a conspiracy then it would not be against a large number of lesser teams, but a positive bias in favour of a small select few. I will speculate further and suggest that we will not have to wait too long before the European League resurfaces possibly in an American style closed shop. Then all we have witnessed in the PL to date becomes clear. Just speculation though.

7.) 08 Apr 2024 17:52:40
European league with no relegation format is almost a racing certainty at some point I would have thought.

Sasa and Fabio both out on loan and yes I know they both need minutes, but Danny Ings .
Thoughts everyone.

1.) 10 Jan 2024 06:29:57
Not for me.

2.) 10 Jan 2024 06:38:26
Agree Blackfords.not sure he would add anything.

3.) 10 Jan 2024 09:56:33
A bad move, we can do a lot better without breaking the bank.

4.) 10 Jan 2024 13:33:34
Ings?…absolutey not for me also, hardly an upgrade!

5.) 10 Jan 2024 15:30:24
Ings or Sick note to his mates! I don't think he's quick enough tbh. Anyone we sign has to be able to keep up with the players we have already. Ings has no hope except on a bike!

6.) 10 Jan 2024 17:17:12
No to ings or adams.
We can do better

7.) 10 Jan 2024 17:18:34
Ings isn't an upgrade on Silva and Sasa? He's scored 62 PL goal and he's been injured most of the time.

Funny how some don't want Ings because he's injury prone but are happy to give Sasa a chance even though he's 5 years younger than Ings but been injured for a longer period.

8.) 10 Jan 2024 17:38:36
No, too old, too slow. The talk is most probably w ham trying to get shot. We must have a replacement in mind given that we've let sasa and fabio go out tho.

9.) 10 Jan 2024 18:00:00
Ings would be a poor option no goals and I xpect masive wages. I would rather put nathan frazer on the bench and give him 15 mins or so each game he would be keen to impress and the experience would do him good

10.) 10 Jan 2024 18:40:40
Ings is slow, but he is a natural goal scorer. Not saying he's my 1st choice, but is definitely an upgrade on Sasa and especially Fabio.

11.) 10 Jan 2024 18:46:02
Thing is Jas those posters saying 'give Sasa a chance' (I wasn't one of them) but they were clearly just trying to be practical, as he's our player and we (cough, wasted, cough) £15m on him.
I would also just point out that of Danny Ings 62 Prem goals only 2 have come since he moved to WHU a season ago (which was worse than even I expected if honest)! They aren't just getting rid cause of the injuries it's also because he hasn't been prolific for about three years! In actual fact Ings has got 2 goals for WHU in 26 games; whereas Sasa has scored 2 goals for us in 12 apps (almost all of which were the last 10 mins of the game). So actually in real terms Sasas strike rate probably actually is better than Ings! I have nothing agaisnt Ings but he's on big wages and hasn't been much good since 2020!
I'm also unsure why peeps seem to think the choice is Fabio, Sasa or Ings?! There's a whole load of players out there wanting to come to the Prem, at least one of them must be up to playing a sqaud role for us?!

12.) 10 Jan 2024 19:55:50
You're right. There are players who the scouting team will have identified. Who they are, we won't know unless we're in the inner sanctum of the club. Whoever it us though, needs to hit the ground running as Hwang as a massive miss for us.

Saying that, I'm sure GON stated a few weeks ago that he wanted an out and out number 9 so that Cuhna could play a bit deeper.

Only 20 days of constant rumours to go.

13.) 10 Jan 2024 21:27:33
Haha so true Jas, it's the hope that kills! ? Personally I still want Boulaye Día, but I believe he is also out of contract in July so may be waiting for bigger fish (I think Newc were tied to him as well). Like ya say though who it will actually be is anyone's guess?! ?

14.) 11 Jan 2024 01:24:49
If we were getting a fit Ings, playing at his best, I'd snap their hands off for him, but if he was at his best, he wouldn't be available.

It's a gamble but you never know, it could work out.

On the other hand, Ekitike only scored 4 goals in 32 games for PSG, so he's hardly a sure bet either.

I think, at this time of the season, for us, it's probably less about finding the ideal signing and more about finding the most efficient deal.

Hobbs said that while we are losing Sasa and Silva, they barely played any minutes anyway, so there's little need to replace them.
Obviously he's not taking injuries and internationals into the equation there but I can understand where he's coming from.

15.) 11 Jan 2024 13:59:04
Totally agree Greylegwolf, very underwhelming and a big step backwards

16.) 11 Jan 2024 15:16:10
Hobbs doesn't understand the concept of injuries or Plan B?

17.) 11 Jan 2024 17:53:31
Yeah I have to agree with Handsome here, it's not enough to add their minutes together and say they won't be missed cause that's not how footy works! Just look at Sasa, both his goals resulted in us getting 4 more points than we would have now. that's without even mentioning the fact that GON deserves to have an option on the bench if we need to change a game!
Having said all that Hobbs knows his business and I suspect that stance was just to help negotiations, what he was basically saying is we won't be held to ransom. I also wonder if they will move things about without Hwang, as at the moment Netos still to come back into the team. Like Jas said just another 19 days of speculation and guff in the press to go then! Happy days ?

18.) 11 Jan 2024 19:03:14
The problem is decent strikers are like gold, lots of average players about who call themselves strikers and vastly overpriced . All the strikers mentioned will just end up bench warmers plus we are still in a pickle with fair play rules. If we are hit with a points deduction, coming late in the season it will make doing an Everton very difficult.

Just to say I'm not the best at posting but love to read everybody else's. Can anybody help me identify the player next to semado in the picture of players and staff in the dressing room after the game yesterday

Hi all I'm a new user. Just want to respond to whackattack re recent Derby. Whilst I respect your views you failed to mention the gbh attack on Ait Nouri by Matty Cash. In the man's game of rugby union a no arms tackle ie a shoulder or head to head contact is a straight red card. Had this been the case on Sunday villa would have played most of the match with 10 men. It was a disgraceful challenge as he had no intention of going for the ball only the player.

Welcome onboard Leogornalwolf1. Let's hope we start to get more competent refereeing than we've enjoyed so far this season, how many 'apologies' is it so far?

2.) 11 Oct 2023 08:53:36
Thanks for the welcome longmyndwolf.
I look forward to reading all of the comments good and bad

3.) 11 Oct 2023 09:29:31
Welcome to the pack leogornal. The reffing as been effing awful and inconsistent across the league so far, but players have also picked up stupid yellows for kicking balls away, complaining etc. They have been warned over the intolerance of this, so we should perhaps blame them as well. VAR as already seen seem to be able to interpret things as they wish, do you think the two pen appeals in the villa game may have got different outcomes if it'd been utd, city, pool, arsenal or spurs against us? That's how it seems. Louiz raised hands with Hwang should of been a red, but VAR against the 'rules' didn't apply them. I despair at the state we've found the game in sometimes. Anyway welcome aboard and I look forward to your posts. COYW

Thanks Abbeywolf. I would appreciate a comment from whakattak re the Aitnouri incident which he seemingly forgot to mention just saying

5.) 11 Oct 2023 16:06:27
I have to admit I missed this so I can’t comment, I’m sure if it was as bad as you make out that it would of being already discussed on here and I don’t remember reading it anywhere in any match reports, was your player injured and substituted after such a disgraceful tackle? Just trying to gauge the seriousness of it, I have a vague recollection of a cash foul but nothing that made me think he might get sent off, I will admit I did think there was a chance luiz might get the red until I seen the replay and the Tom daly impersonation, that’s the difference between football and rugby, players are meant to go for the ball with their head or feet, not supposed to use their arms but Doherty missed the memo I think.

6.) 11 Oct 2023 17:01:44
Hi whackattack the incident I refer to is when Cash smashes Aitnouri with shoulder into Aitnouri's jaw the game was stopped whilst he had treatment and he didn't come back out after halftime hope you can take another look mate. I have read your comments in the past and have found you to be fair minded person.

7.) 11 Oct 2023 18:37:51
Actually as result of that incident Air-Nouri suffered a concussion so was subbed at half time and will also not travel for the internationals.

8.) 11 Oct 2023 21:17:52
Hi longmynd as I said if you watch the gbh attack it should have been a straight red and why didn't var pick it up.

9.) 12 Oct 2023 09:02:51
It’s not on YouTube or in the highlights so unfortunately I can’t see it anywhere, looked back through the match thread on sky sports app there’s no mention of any serious foul play or a var check for the incident, it just says he catches him late, hope he’s ok ?
