Lancs,

Tim Nash is more of an insider than most journos. Exciting news then. If true, Fosun are not messing about.

This will wind-up Mick McCarthy no end.

You can see what Mick is saying though. If we were still dragging along the bottom with M&M, and Fosun had bought Ipswich instead, with them, Middlesbrough, Villa, Fulham etc etc, probably the best you could hope for is survival. And as for McCarthy himself, it's clear managers like him aren't going to be getting picked by the big spending clubs, short of a miracle he's never getting back to the Prem. It all turned for him in that hammering we took in that Baggies derby.

Lots have suffered / been knocked out by Morgans little adventure into football, while the pro modern international nature of the game has caught up and taken over.

I really hope we will sign two strikers and whoever joins us, I will totally support. I must admit though that I really hope neither one will be Gray as he is over priced and has a whole lot of very unpleasant baggage. Wolves can do far better in my opinion.

I'm not a great fan of gray but he is a better version of dicko. In terms of baggage I can't hold something against that he posted when he was young. We have all do daft things in our youth.
Gray and afobe would make us formidable and make teams fear coming to the molineux IMO. Plus add felxibility in formations that we need.
Plus ultimate respect to dicko to coming to us when we were at our 21st century low. UTW.

If it is true that there will be another striker after Bonatini then of the names mentioned this Summer these three, in this order, would be my preferences;

1 Vincent Aboubakar
2 Andre Gray
3 Benik Afobe

Not a fan of Sam Gallagher to be honest.

Whatever - it's still a far cry from Lambert's Jonathan Hugill links!

Unfortunately most egotystical footballers have baggage but people tend to have short memories particularly if the players produce the goods. Just look at John Terry. His many indiscretions hardly get a mention but if he was in a 'normal' job he'd have been hounded out years ago.

Very fair comment Anewdawn. We will not sign both Afobe and Gray now and my choice between the two would be Afobe every time. Who knows -Fosun may well come up with a name we haven't considered or even heard of. Time will tell.

John Terry fits the London mob brand, it's cool without being excluding, it worked because he was at Chelsea and they were loaded, and in the Capital city. Man City do fine with hoodlum / gangster types, like Tevez, Ballotelli etc, with their Oasis etc supporters, because they're the urban / street counterpart to glam Man U, they've even developed relationships with New York in that 'street' vein. The kind of thing Brum should be trying to be.

By comparison, Wolverhampton is small and provincial, run down, we wouldn't get away being gangster and still be inclusive, we're not big enough to ride it without it defining us and making us look like broken Britain.

Sorry ULF but what the hell are you rambling on about? Wolves won't be buying Gray to be enhance the brand of wolves, they'll buy him because he scores goals, and that is what will help with a promotion push.

Re when Gray was young - he's not putting it behind him though, his twitter account is led with a photo of the scar, he's made it his identity. What are people supposed to think, that's it's a Prussian fencing scar?

Ulf,
Come again? Have you swallowed a PR or sociology textbook? Or something? Obviously we're not going to take a chance on a bad 'un like, say, a younger Joey Barton. I thought we are looking for a striker to, err, score goals, and not to enhance any brand image. We just want a bloke to do what it says on the tin. Score! And I don't mean with a teammate's missus.

Cheers Doncaster wolf Afobe and gray would be dreamy though🐺🐺🐺😜😜😜
There is no baggage with gray nor Afobe. Gray was young when he posted those tweets I'm not going to guillotine him over them. They were wrong but capital punishment isn't in the offing. Afobe left because the club had no ambition and was been asset stripped at the time by Morgan and moxey did his bidding.
This is a new style of football where possession and having effective strikers will be paramount. I trust Nino in this regard I just home he doesn't u see estimate the midfield battles we will come up against as price and saiss will get found out. Also I have my reservations about 3-4-3. UTW.

Ulf what is gray supposed to do about he's scar?
Put a bag on his face when he wears the shirt.
Com'on back to reality. Fans who start to support wolves won't search every players life he also paid the punishment.
We are too nice already!

No, I'm arguing if they're going to spend a ton of money on Gray, it would make much more sense to spend it on Afobe. I don't doubt either could win us promotion, but Afobe is younger, more potential to develop, and a positive rather than negative match for our brand. And brand should matter to clubs hoping to be at the top.

Ulf I'm sorry but give it a rest mate. You spouted all this crap about brand, identity and being urban with money shop last year and judging by the players we are signing it obviously hasn't affected us in the slightest. Every post you are just repeating yourself and it gets tedious to read. All we want is someone to come in and score goals, end of! I don't particularly want Afobe back after the 4 months of sulking and unprofessional he displayed but if he does come and does the job I'll be over the moon. Andre Gray is class at this level and has done it in a struggling premiership side too so much the better option surely.

Hear hear south banker. Fo example Suarez bites someone he still plays for Barcelona does it stop them? The big club have right dodgy deals such as Barcelona claiming to save children then put youngsters to produce Nike kits in Asia. It doesn't effect the brand football fans enjoy football end of. Money shop will be gone next year. And everyone has forgot about grays past apart from you Ulf. Get with the future. I'd rather have a local lad do well with the wolves and be a good star for our youngsters! UTW.

Absolutely guys. Someone on here is obsessed with our so-called brand. Brand? That's for burgers and fried chicken! Mick got us promoted with his brand, which was all about putting a shift in. Nuno is a far smarter operator than Mick, and has the backing of Fosun/ Mendes. Our brand is winning the title with fast-moving free-flowing possession-based football. I don't give a toss if our footballers or fans are urban or rural. End of.

If he scored 20 goals for us and we got promoted I'm pretty sure nobody would careless about his twitter profile.
